Just heard this on the BBC. So young

It’s not rock and roll to live forever

UniversalAunt · 21/01/2022 09:06

RIP Mr Loaf.

LaDoIceVita · 21/01/2022 09:06

"A wasted youth is better by far than a wise and productive old age"

RIP Meatloaf. You gave so much to so many.

User1isnotavailable · 21/01/2022 09:07

@AnyFucker

That is sad news but I don’t thing dying at 74 with the comorbidities he had is particularly surprising, nor young
74 isn't young given his health issues.

I guess we expect people to live longer than that even though many countries have lower life expectancies that in the western world.

FiveShelties · 21/01/2022 09:10

Bat out of Hell is the song I want played at my funeral - very very loud.

I love his music, just fantastic. Play his albums all the time.

RIP Meatloaf

Celia66 · 21/01/2022 09:10

Most of the 74 year olds I know have full and active lives, but it is not young. People were up in arms when the state pension age was raised to late 60s for many people!

RIP Meatloaf. Great entertainer and musician. So soon after the great Jim Steinmann. My favourite Meatloaf song was I Would Do Anything for Love but my favourite Steinmann song was It's All Coming Back to Me which he wouldn't allow Meatloaf to record. He gave it to Celine Dion instead.

Very sad for his family.

girlmom21 · 21/01/2022 09:12

@BoredZelda

It’s sad but I wouldn’t say 74 is young.

My mum is 74. I wouldn’t consider her old.

But would you consider her young?
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/01/2022 09:12

@CovidCorvid

It’s sad but I wouldn’t say 74 is young.
I'm 60.....it's young, wondering how much time I have left Shock
DrSbaitso · 21/01/2022 09:13

74 is young to die these days.

I'm very sorry. Great performer and always seemed like a nice guy.

WomanStanleyWoman · 21/01/2022 09:14

This is such sad news; especially only a few months after the death of Jim Steinman. The true masters of the rock epic.

And no, maybe 74 isn’t young, but there’s something seriously wrong with someone whose first reaction to hearing this news is ‘Oh goody - I can use someone’s death to score points off a stranger on the internet’. If you’ve only contributed to pick the ‘so young’ comment to bits, take a good hard look at yourself.

RedMozzieYellowMozzie · 21/01/2022 09:15

I wanted my first dance to be I'd lie for you (and that's the truth) but DH wasn't keen on such a long song. Spoilsport

Rip meatloaf

DidoDino · 21/01/2022 09:15

Oh no. Singing along to Bat out of Hell in the car is the best thing ever.

Quackpot · 21/01/2022 09:15

😭

Georgeskitchen · 21/01/2022 09:15

Not really young, especially if he has led a rock n roll lifestyle.....
That said, a hugely talented guy who will he sadly missed xx

PiesNotGuys · 21/01/2022 09:17

RIP Mr Loaf.

74 is a good long life surely. The type of life where people mutter about them having a good innings?

The last four people to die in my family (so the last four funerals I went to) were 58, 55, 69 and 44.

seperatedmum · 21/01/2022 09:17

@Tubs11

I remember when Bowie died I was super shocked that someone so young and talented had passed until I realised he was 69. Proof legends never age
hit the nail on the head there- he was a legend 👏🏽
Deux · 21/01/2022 09:19

Bat out of Hell is one of those few albums that I played as a teenager where I still know all the words today. Still love it, really loud.

Thewiseoneincognito · 21/01/2022 09:19

Terribly sad, he hadn’t been well for quite a few years now, videos of recent performances show he was struggling even as far back as 10 years ago. I think he lived the Rock life.

His music will live forever.

Isaw3ships · 21/01/2022 09:20

Er, So young?? With his lifestyle I think he was probably lucky to make it to 74!
So young to me is when Amy Winehouse died, or Heath Ledger.
So young isn’t a 74 year old who spend years and years off his tits on drink and drugs, God rest his soul.

MondeoFan · 21/01/2022 09:21

Oh how I loved Meatloaf and still do. Loved the whole Bat out of hell album.
It's up there with my top albums.
I loved the fact he wasn't your typical stereotype heartthrob singer. I didn't give a jot that he was overweight. Why did that matter?
Lovely voice, great man and loved the fact also he appeared in some films. Great loss

HotPenguin · 21/01/2022 09:21

So sad, he was a brilliant musician - he did what he wanted to do, and did it brilliantly. Not many like him left now, it's all manufactured/mass media/image driven.

Gonnagetgoing · 21/01/2022 09:22

I saw that. very sad news. great singer.

x2boys · 21/01/2022 09:23

Thank you for the music Meatloaf Rip

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/01/2022 09:24

Oh that’s sad! I always imagined he was a nice chap, but no idea why!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/01/2022 09:26
