Just heard this on the BBC. So young

74 isn't young when we're all told we need to plan for 20-30 years beyond retirement for pension saving purposes. I'd be bloody pissed off at saving hundreds of pounds a month for 40+ years and barely lasting more than 5 years after retirement.

Anyway, very sad about Meatloaf.

BarbaraofSeville · 21/01/2022 08:27

Sorry, 74 is young in a pension planning context.

Rubysocold · 21/01/2022 08:27

They're all going to go soon, aren't they? That whole wave of singers. Can't think of any in the next generation who have that power.

tigger1001 · 21/01/2022 08:28

@Samcro

so sad. saw him live back in the day, he was amazing.
I saw him several times live - always an amazing show
FireworkParrot · 21/01/2022 08:28

he wouldn't screw around behind her back. it is there in the lyrics ! she says sooner or later you'll be screwing around and he says I wont do that !

Exactly what I was going to say. My DF is in his early 70s as is my FIL and if they died now I'd feel they'd gone too soon.

Sad news, I love Meatloaf and he always came across as a nice guy in interviews.

I know it's sad news , but that did make me smile. Never forget the pension!
Tinacollada · 21/01/2022 08:28

I want to go to the bar out of hell 🤣

Tubs11 · 21/01/2022 08:28

I remember when Bowie died I was super shocked that someone so young and talented had passed until I realised he was 69. Proof legends never age

DorotheaDiamond · 21/01/2022 08:28

That’s so sad ;-( love BOOH but actually think bad attitude is at least as good!!!

Tubs11 · 21/01/2022 08:28

And RIP Meatloaf

Counterpane · 21/01/2022 08:29

RIP Meat Loaf.

bruffin · 21/01/2022 08:30

So sad

I had a double sided 45 of "you took the words right out of my mouth" played it constantly
One of my favourite records of my teenage years

RIP Meatloaf

x2boys · 21/01/2022 08:32

Well I can understand that @Sluj😂 Brilliant song ,but not appropriate for young ears .

Wolfiefan · 21/01/2022 08:33

Sad news.
Reminiscing here. Brought on by talk of your favourite. Paradise by the Dashboard light. BOOH. Two out of three.

AdoptedBumpkin · 21/01/2022 08:33

Sad news, he was an epic performer.

KittenKong · 21/01/2022 08:34

I saw a tv programme recently (well pre covid) and he was still doing shows and meeting fans who were in tears and telling him how much he had meant to them. He looked like he wasn’t well (walking stick) but looked genuinely moved and was hugging weeping fans and telling them how happy he was to have met them. He looked like a genuine nice people person. He didn’t look well though.

butterpuffed · 21/01/2022 08:35

I loved his music and always used to joke to my kids that I wanted Bat out of Hell at my funeral !

He was a one off. RIP.

LashesZ · 21/01/2022 08:37

What a rubbish start to the day.

I saw him in 2013, it was an amazing concert. His daughter pearl was the backing singer. He is one of very few artists that actually sound like their recordings when live.

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2022 08:38

That is sad. I actually didn't realise he was as old as 74, but 74 is not old!

Thisbastardcomputer · 21/01/2022 08:40

I'm surprised he lasted so long, I saw him live 20 odd years ago, he was huge, dripping in sweat and very out of breath.

His music was fab

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 21/01/2022 08:41

This is sad, I loved Meatloaf. I will always think of him as Eddie from the RHPS.

Shepley54333 · 21/01/2022 08:41

What the heck!!! I was just listening to Bat out of hell yesterday! I'm shocked.

HoldMeCloseImTryingToDanceHere · 21/01/2022 08:42

Sad news. I’m shocked at how emotional I feel.

Have been going through some mental health stuff, and ‘Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through’ has been my comfort song.
Some of the lyrics are framed in my bedroom.

Meatloaf, and his music, meant a lot to so many.
Thoughts are with his family.

LowlyTheWorm · 21/01/2022 08:42

To be honest- loved that song as a young ish child. Didn’t even really know what it was referring to until Back Into Hell and me owing my very own CD player (I was very excited by this- age 14!) meant I listened to Bat out of hell all over again with fresh ears! 😂
Shambolicatthleast · 21/01/2022 08:42

We saw him years ago at knebworth. He performed in a wheelchair as he’d fallen off the stage and broken his leg months earlier. Still amazing.
BOHH was such a huge part of my teenage years, almost like a theme tune to them. First boyfriend, living in Germany and having the best time. So many good memories brought back by it.
