Another Bloody Downing Street party

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

It's the smirking when asked about it that says it all. People were dying alone while he was at parties and he thinks thay is funny. Cunt is too nice a word for that man.

OhamIreally · 11/01/2022 07:12

@SylviaTrench

I know that they might think that we're all plebs, and that the rules only apply to us and not them, but how could they see the Queen sitting by herself at her husband's funeral and not feel ashamed?

They have no shame.

Roselilly36 · 11/01/2022 07:13

They must have been so petrified of the virus to be holding all these parties mustn’t they?

JustJam4Tea · 11/01/2022 07:16

I think people have stopped caring,. This would have been a resigning issue but they just smirk and move on….

Lying has become normalised.

How the fuck do we get these cunts out??
Getting an electable opposition might be a good start.

They’re all the same! That is the problem.

This is not true.

We have never had a PM like this. Starmer might not be Mr Charisma but he isn't a lying selfish toad.

They are absolutely not all the same.

Can you show me when Kier Starmer did anything even vaguely like the Conservative party have? What are there now, 3 or so parties?

They are absolutely not the same. It feels like that is an easy get out for people who are going to vote Tory come what may.

kirinm · 11/01/2022 07:18

@the80sweregreat

It is awful , but there is also a photo of Sir Keir Starmer (on social media ) at a do in someone's home too at around the same time. Not sure of the exact details though or if it was after some restrictions were starting to lift a bit ? Nothing like these ' byob' parties, but I'm sure someone will wheel it out. Makes me think that they are either all utterly stupid or just didn't care because it was outside and they all worked together anyway ? Not condoning the behavior at that time. It is bad, but why didn't someone just say no to it all or call it out ? It was against the rules at that time. Most people I know were sticking to all the rules , my elderly dad died of covid in may 2020 in hospital ( he was in a care home ) and we couldn't even go and see him :( Same as so many others too.
He's in his office with a beer. And it was in May 2021 when restrictions had been partially lifted.
gettingolderandgrumpy · 11/01/2022 07:18

What I’m more amazed is that he’s still prime minister and people saying well who else will take over . So what people are saying is that someone else will be the same ? . So basically they can set the rules and break them and we go along with that ok . Its outrageous that people didn’t see family or friends and if anyone dared to have their mum round they were ‘ selfish’ and this ‘was never going to end ‘ for gods sake people would even shout about people buying essentials and how busy it is on the roads . If any of this hasn’t taught anyone anything I don’t know what will .

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/01/2022 07:19

Some of those invited responded with incredulity and didn't go so at least some people had integrity. I saw Boris asked about this on last night's news. He knew. He went. Because if he hadn't he'd have said so and said he would be telling the investigator the same.

You cannot treat the electorate so poorly. They're taking us for fools. They think they are untouchable and do as they please.

theworldsgonefeckingmad · 11/01/2022 07:20

It wouldn't surprise me if things are being leaked deliberately to make people think "fuck it I'm no longer following the rules" to try and bring the pandemic to a close

kirinm · 11/01/2022 07:21

*not his office, a constituency office in Durham. It isn't vaguely the same which is why it isn't being wheeled out. They are not all the same.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/01/2022 07:25

in Myanmar he would go to prison

It is shocking that they hold us all in such contempt.
As I’ve said before Boris is gaslighting the whole country.

Malibuismysecrethome · 11/01/2022 07:38

As a previous poster has said they were obviously not afraid of the virus, makes you wonder why doesn’t it?

BellaChagall · 11/01/2022 07:50

Someone on here mentioned lying becoming normalised. I think that's true, and it's evidenced here on Mumsnet where often people will suggest lying to get out of situations. There was a thread the other day where the OP didn't want to go on an overseas business trip (for good reasons) and a number of posters were suggesting she lied and said she had covid.

It's awful, it's becoming endemic, and our toxic leadership are encouraged it by setting a terrible example.

Likkleredridinghood · 11/01/2022 07:52

This 'they are all the same' 'unelectable opposition' 'this is a mashup of the brexit party and UKIP' really' just lets them off the hook as usual. Gives people an excuse to carry on voting for them.
And the sad thing is most of this shower are behind brexit which funnily enough is rarely mentioned now.
No doubt Sunak or another useful idiot will be wheeled out and people will be persuaded to see it as a new government and so it carries on.

Not if these are Cummings revelations

If they are, the uncomfortable underlying question is whether to further the Cummings agenda

Rock or hard place, anyone?

Good question, I doubt the government are doing to as it damages their reputation, however it does beg the question, who does benefit?

I don’t think it’s that but I would like to know why too

Is it just DC or other

Notonthestairs · 11/01/2022 08:02

Javid was offered Chancellor but refused to work with DC which is when Sunak got a rapid promotion.

Wasn't there a poll at the weekend suggesting the party members preferred Sunak to Johnson as party leader?

And now Johnson (rightly) hoisted by his own petard.

PurpleParrotfish · 11/01/2022 08:02

Of course Johnson broke lockdown rules. He and his party already proved over and over again their contempt for the electorate, for the truth, for rules. See PPE contract corruption, Patel breaking the ministerial code and staying on, Johnson lying to Parliament all the time etc etc.
Once it was just a given that politicians didn’t do those sort of things. You might not like their policies or think they were competent but if they were caught out in obvious dishonesty they resigned.
I think some of it is Brexit-related - every Tory politician has kept their job by being prepared to deny reality - that Brexit would inevitably come with difficult choices and create big problems. Professing the faith and claiming 2 + 2 = 5 with a straight face. And that attitude seeps into everything else, they get away with it and are not held to account.
And then people say ‘there’s no credible opposition’. FFS, Labour could not possibly be worse than this shit show. So Starmer is a bit uninspiring and the Labour party is split between lefties and centrists? So what? But apparently that’s so terrible that people will overlook all the lies, corruption, incompetence and legislation to remove our civil rights and vote Tory anyway as the ‘natural party of government’ or something.

GlacindaTheTroll · 11/01/2022 08:04

Good question, I doubt the government are doing to as it damages their reputation, however it does beg the question, who does benefit?

No-one really. And assuming thus is Cummings revenge, there does need to be someone who benefits, as the whole aim would be the tearing down. Collateral damage not important in that scenario

Someone’s been holding on to these revelations until recently and they’re coming out one by one. I have been pondering why. Why wait till now?
