Another Bloody Downing Street party

999 replies

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

@Poetrypatty

England used to be looked up to as having high standards. We've fallen so far

Yes it's painful to see how far our country's reputation has been trashed.

You get what you vote for.
merrymouse · 11/01/2022 20:48

Labour MP for North Durham.

I would contact his constituency office if you are concerned about his behaviour. They might be confused if you aren’t a constituent though.

This thread is about the PM and his government. In 2020 that did not include Labour Party back benchers.

Notonthestairs · 11/01/2022 20:49

No User135644 - we get who the Tory party donors pay for.

I think Alexandra2001 wants you to focus on the thread topic - all that stuff about Boris Johnson's marriage is confusing her.

No, the post was addressed to you.
BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 11/01/2022 20:50

Kevan Jones is a decent MP. He's not the one at fault here.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 20:52

@ancientgran

I'm thinking back to then and how lonely it was. I was on my own as a carer with disabled DH, my children have all moved away, well they went to uni and didn't come back as got jobs in uni city. I've been annoyed/angry with the other revelations but now I just feel an overwhelming sense of loss and despair at what we went through while they were partying.

I can't imagine how people who lost loved ones must feel. Remember the boy who died alone in hospital as his parents couldn't visit.

I could cry.

I'm so sorry that sounds so lonely for you.

I hated that time as well. Two children at home (nurseries closed) trying to work full time as well, lone parent so no support. Didn't see another adult for 3 months as children weren't exempt from the rules on meeting only one other person outside.

But you're right, it's when I think of that poor boy dying alone and scared that I get really furious.

User135644 · 11/01/2022 20:53

@bevelino

You can be sure the Tories will throw a load of cash around just before the next election and people will be taken in and vote for them.
And "Keir Starmer will eat your baby" headlines in the Mail, and "Coalition of chaos" soundbites everywhere which the lemmings will be shore to lap up.

The Tories take the English for total fools.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 20:54

@ohfourfoxache

Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab was a 13 year old child

He died - alone - in hospital. Probably terrified, probably in pain and undoubtedly suffering

His own parents were not allowed to sit at his deathbed as he passed

And these UTTER CUNTS were having fucking drinks??? When thousands were dying, alone, in hospitals and care homes and in their own homes??

History has it’s eyes on our “leaders”. Disgraceful, evil cuntweasels Angry

This. Sad

Labour Party back benchers get to vote on Covid restrictions don't they?

Clavinova is definitely Anne Widdecombe.

The thing is, the scientists probably warned them all in early 2020 that pandemics tend to last two years but there would be a vaccine and an end game eventually.
Surely they could have just all taken a vow to just keep a low profile and play by the rules ? The rules they had to implement to get us through it ?
The Queen sat by herself at her husbands funeral , it was a stark reminder that people were in it together. That the virus was above money or status or who you were.
They could have made life easier for themselves by keeping their heads down and at least pretending they knew how we all felt. Time for parties could be held off.
They could have won over people , but instead it's all just gone really tits up.
If they ever needed another lockdown it would never happen too now. Who would comply?
These people run our country and it's amazing just how thick they really are to be honest

Notonthestairs · 11/01/2022 20:57

PM put forward legislation to restrict contact beyond one other person.

PM private secretary invites 100 people to a party.

PM pretends to be furious about said party.

You can't square it Clavinova. Divert all you like. It's bloody filthy.

jgw1 · 11/01/2022 20:57

@DuncinToffee

Labour called thr Urgent Question today, PM and majority of Tory MPs were absent. Labour party also released a statement.
These are what is known as facts. They are often used by experts, and we know that we are living in a post expert world, so it figures that we also do not want to pay attention to facts. Please do not use facts again, but instead allow posters to try and post about the latest irrelevant squirrel they have seen.
User135644 · 11/01/2022 20:59

But it was too late, as the vote was in, and decades of anti-EU propaganda had served its purpose in the context of an electorate that saw a Leave vote as a way to stick up two fingers at mainstream Conservative AND Labour politicians.

The same Conservative and Labour who'll continue to fill the Commons benches every election.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 20:59

@SmellyOldOwls

How the fuck do we get these cunts out??
I believe the good people of Uxbridge have the right to recall their MP (Johnson). And if he's chucked out as their MP he can't stay as PM...
MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 21:01

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nail on the head there!
ancientgran · 11/01/2022 21:01

@MagpiesStoleMyTreasure Thank you. It was hard wasn't it. It must have been so hard with little ones and work, I know my DIL struggled alot and of course I couldn't do anything.

Hope we don't go through that again.

I was pleased to hear Johnny Mercer (Plymouth MP) has spoken very clearly against what went on and the Scottish Conservative leader but I can't remember his name. Douglas someone? Douglas Ross? I think that's him, he says Boris should go if he was at the party/gathering/socially distanced byob meeting.

jgw1 · 11/01/2022 21:02

@Notonthestairs

I don't why people let themselves get diverted.

PM's private secretary invited 100 people to a party in Downing Street whilst the rest of us were told we could only meet one other person.

And then PM claims he's "furious" at said parties. 🧀🍷

If he was furious about finding out there had been a Christmas party he had not been invited to, how furious will he be that he was in his garden while a party was going on and wasn't invited.
merrymouse · 11/01/2022 21:03

So you are saying that an obscure back bench opposition MP is more involved in the business of government than Boris Johnson, his cabinet and his advisors?

To be fair you might be right.

They are all just trying to save their own skins though at this point IMO. They have most likely received thousands of emails from furious constituents. If any of them had any morals they'd never have supported a leader like Johnson in the first place.

We don't know why Ismail's mother (a widow) wasn't there - the hospital declined to explain at the time.

I think 🧀 may be the new Biscuit

Tealightsandd · 11/01/2022 21:07

This isn't good news (unless you're on the side of the ERG and want to let the bodies pile up).

Those on the left and/or anyone who doesn't want to see mass death and disability cheering this on? Do you think it's the end of the Conservatives in government? Because it really isn't.

Boris has behaved very badly and he's handled the pandemic poorly.... But if you think things are bad now, wait until his replacement is in situ.

Today nearly 400 people were killed by Covid. Many more left disabled.

Get used to such totally avoidable high numbers of death and disability being reported as "low stable" and "coming out of the pandemic". Oh and of course the biggie - "living lots of Other People dying or being disabled with it"

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 21:07

Seriously Clav. We know you love Boris and seem to hope you can be his 5th wife or whatever. But that's low even for you. Give it up, you're convincing nobody that any of this is ok.

Anne Widdecombe is much older than me. Grin
