Another Bloody Downing Street party

999 replies

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

@Kendodd

The only thing that surprises me about all these parties is that they had to bring their own booze and it wasn't supplied by the tax payer.
Yes I think we just supplied the food and the venue.
jgw1 · 11/01/2022 12:59

@the80sweregreat

How dare people on here say that following the rules back then were stupid ! How fucking dare they ! :( .. just when I thought that people couldn't go any lower. The care home or hospital wouldn't let people in anyway, so how do they square that one ?
I have to say that I assumed that those posts were from Nasty Party HQ demonstrating their empathy and humanity.
merrymouse · 11/01/2022 13:00

@the80sweregreat

While she is at it, can Sue Gray tell us on here if Boris Johnson and Carrie were at this party in 2020 ? Why the ' inquiry ' into who was there ? Why not just ask a few people ? 100 I think were there eating cheese and quaffing wine Surely one of them saw him there or not ? It's just farcical.
Yes, it’s ridiculous.

The enquiry was set up when he was claiming he knew nothing about the parties or whether they had taken place.

Now it’s clear that parties took place and he was there.

Enquiry over.

Ah, those attending weren't rich enough to be allowed tax payer funded handouts.
NewYearNewKale · 11/01/2022 13:04

Well yes! They really continue to take the piss.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 13:05

Is being debated in Parliament right now as an Urgent Question to the PM

Note that not only is the PM not in attendance but there are barely any Conservative MPs there either.

they are at a fridge party

I like the way the minister apologies for the hurt the allegations might have caused.

Why not just apologise for breaking the law and tell us when the Prime Minister is resigning?

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 13:09

Must be a photo somewhere , surely?
Nice selfie with the cheese boards?
As someone said, it's just ' drip drip drip ' and now another 'injury ' to see if the PM was at the do or not !?
It's just a farce.

merrymouse · 11/01/2022 13:11

Yes - no amount of apologising or enquiring will change what clearly happened.

NOTANUM · 11/01/2022 13:14

Three observations..

  1. Ed Milliband did a brilliant tour of the television stations this morning. He even praised Cameron saying he had never said a good word about him in 5 years but doubts he’d behave like Johnson’s gov.
  2. No gov minister did any PR today. Kwasi learned his lesson and stayed away. Truss and Sunak are nowhere to be seen.
  3. The Tory benches emptied for the Labour question in Parliament. It might be in solidarity or it might be an enormous raised finger to the nation. Either way it looked bad on Twitter.

Meanwhile Johnson needs the Grey report to know if he attended. That’s Grey who works for him. I think the rest of us know where we were in May 2020 and that’s nowhere.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 13:15

Or answer the easier question, was the PM there?
A simple yes or no would do

merrymouse · 11/01/2022 13:15

The thing I find so offensive is that they keep trying to find the excuse or the loophole, as though there weren’t thousands of people in far, far more difficult and heart breaking circumstances who didn’t get to think up their own loop hole.

User1isnotavailable · 11/01/2022 13:16

@ohfourfoxache

Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab was a 13 year old child

He died - alone - in hospital. Probably terrified, probably in pain and undoubtedly suffering

His own parents were not allowed to sit at his deathbed as he passed

And these UTTER CUNTS were having fucking drinks??? When thousands were dying, alone, in hospitals and care homes and in their own homes??

History has it’s eyes on our “leaders”. Disgraceful, evil cuntweasels Angry

Indeed but the people in government don't care. Johnson doesn't care. They hold the man on the street in contempt. They tell us what to do and when but carry on as they want to.

This is because WE the people do not hold them accountable. They get away with various behaviours time and time again. We let them. They are arrogant and deceitful and we let them be. Excuses from their supporters include 'move on', it's a long time ago' 'what would the opposition have done', 'I don't like the opposition so it's the best we have'. All nonsense of course and a massive get out of jail card is handed to them to do what they want, time and time again.

Until the voters stand up and say 'enough is enough' they will continue to hold us all in contempt.

kittensinthekitchen · 11/01/2022 13:16

Bets on Johnson now claiming a positive covid test?

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 13:18

@kittensinthekitchen

Bets on Johnson now claiming a positive covid test?
To avoid PMQs tomorrow?
BluebellsGreenbells · 11/01/2022 13:19

On another note, school trips to Downing Street have been cancelled as they don’t want the spread of Covid. Totally ok for a party but school children who don’t spread Covid are banned? Mmmm

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 13:19

The Conservatives won't put in the letters for him to resign , yet. They probably don't see it as a major problem and hope it goes away
Sue Gray will say ' they wasn't there ' and the other 98 people will back her up. Tin of whitewash.
Then ( maybe ) Cummings or someone will produce a dated and timed photo of this big gathering showing them all having fun whilst the rest of us were stuck indoors. Including our PM.
I hope this might happen, it probably won't, but I'd be the first to smirk if it did.

User1isnotavailable · 11/01/2022 13:20

@orinocosfavoritecake

Meanwhile the worst dirt that anyone’s managed to dig up on Starmer is that he bought a field next to his mum’s house to house rescue donkeys.
But he is still the devil incarnate to Tory supporters and obviously would do a far worse job that the current incompetent, lying, twit.
SpindleyCrow · 11/01/2022 13:20

Fucking hell, Jim Shannon MP is in tears, he's broken down speaking about his MiL dying alone.

Tiredmummiesunite83 · 11/01/2022 13:22

Bastards
Could England stop voting them in,now?
Totally not surprised , approaching apathy. But that’s probably what they want …

SpindleyCrow · 11/01/2022 13:30

So the very well-spoken Mogg-lite Junior Minister sent in to front for Johnson has refused to answer a single question. 'We must wait for the results of the investigation'. 'I'm not going to discuss private discussions between ministers'.

Michael Ellis, Paymaster General is not having a good day.

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2022 13:32

Was he there or not?
So much blinking theatre , when it's one of the most easiest questions in the world!!

Wonder what he had done wrong to have to appear in the House? Did he forget to lose his phone last night? Not booked a convenient holiday to avoid it?
LondonJax · 11/01/2022 13:34

Whether Boris attended the party or not (if you're giving him benefit of the doubt), it took place at his home. Which is, as Rabb loves to point out, also his office.

If he wasn't there then he can prove that. Carrie probably was at home at number 10 as she'd not long had a baby, we were in lockdown and there was not many other places she could have gone. If she wasn't there then their house or office staff were.

So where did his private secretary get permission for the party from if not from him or her? You surely don't invite people into the back garden of your boss's house without him or his wife knowing you were going to do it.

This didn't take place at some obscure park. This took place in the back garden of the PM home. No-one hovers around those grounds with permission, I would imagine.

So attending or not, Boris and Carrie knew it was happening, did nothing and are now lying.

All of which is immaterial. If Boris didn't attend and could prove he was elsewhere (which as PM is pretty easy as visits/meetings are documented), he just has to say he didn't attend. But he won't say that because he was there. And he knows a photo will surface if he says he wasn't.

It's not going to much better when he sees this digital ad.
