One of my instructors from army basic training had a Shar Pei called Nigel Grin used to make me laugh every time I’d hear him calling for the dog

Badabingbadatinselbum · 06/01/2022 12:32

Our neighbour's dog is called Kenny. Always makes me smile.

wendywoopywoo222 · 06/01/2022 12:32

One of my labradors was Roy.

Ratonastick · 06/01/2022 12:34

I once met a whippet called Gerald. And a pair of cats called Ducati and Yamaha.

I love being at the vet when they come out and call by the pet’s name. My favourite was for Cookie Edwards. Sounded like a daytime to presenter.

whinetime89 · 06/01/2022 12:34

I have a dachshund X called "Neville". Most think an ode to Neville Longbottom but actually my son named Him after the Wobmat in Kangaroo Beach 🤣

WhatALump · 06/01/2022 12:34

When my exh (named Dave) and I got our first dog we named him Rodney. After Dave.

I know a big fat Labrador called Barry. There is also one who lives near us called Alan.

A friend of a friend has a cockerpoo called Virginia Woof!

GiantHaystacks2021 · 06/01/2022 12:37

Elvis - a ginger tabby cat.

Clarich007 · 06/01/2022 12:38

Pedro Grin

Katandra9 · 06/01/2022 12:39

Bruce 😊

TidyDancer · 06/01/2022 12:39

My friend has a cockerpoo called Alan. My former colleague has a Brian.

FeelingBlu92 · 06/01/2022 12:39

Not a dog (the oddest I've come across is 'Magic') but I've had some horses with bloody weird names! I had a 'Dunno' as when he was born it was a case of 'What shall we call him?'... 'Dunno' so they just went with that, and another horse, totally unrelated called 'Maybe' - Maybe what?!

EdithGrantham · 06/01/2022 12:39

In the vets waiting room a beagle got called in ahead of us called Jeremy, that amused me for some time

TheWernethWife · 06/01/2022 12:40

Our much beloved and departed dog was called Eddie. After Meatloafs role in the Rocky Horror Show.

WeirdCatLady · 06/01/2022 12:40

Arthur Pendragon 🐾

He’s a cutie Staffie-cross with a huge smile and a cute padded coat for when it’s cold.

CockingASnook · 06/01/2022 12:40

A boxer called Punch. Personally I prefer human names. I've still not got over the tragic story of Alan the dachshund in Conde Nast's revolving door.

lborgia · 06/01/2022 12:40

@EdithGrantham - LOVE that!

ANameChangeAgain · 06/01/2022 12:41

I knew someone with cats called Fred and Mary West 😬, he found it too embarrassing at the vets though, so renamed them Girl Cat and Boy Cat.

Buytoomuchonebay · 06/01/2022 12:41

Colin
He’s just the sweetest dog I’ve ever met
I must ask where his owner got his name from

Mylee · 06/01/2022 12:41

My friend has a bulldog called Steve, and my uncle has a mastiff called Alfred

MandyMotherOfBrian · 06/01/2022 12:43

A mongrel named Vyvyan Bastard (this was in the 80s Grin).
Two white GSDs, Barry and Brian.
And I met a black Labrador, on the beach yesterday, named Mycroft

jaguar67 · 06/01/2022 12:43

Ian !

limitedperiodonly · 06/01/2022 12:43

It's a cat name. I hope that's allowed. He was called Nimrod after the mighty hunter in the Bible. I plan to adopt a rescue cat and if it's a boy that's going to be his name. Diana (the huntress) if a girl.

But I hope they're like Nobby my last cat and named because he had no front teeth like the 1966 World Cup winning English footballer Nobby Stiles). Nobby Stiles was a fearsome defender but my Nobby wouldn't hurt a fly.

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 06/01/2022 12:43

I once saw a poster for a missing ferret named 'Ryan Giggs' (at the time, Ryan Giggs was footballer of the moment) which amused me for some reason. I hope they found Ryan the ferret in the end!
