On BBC1 just now. Is there a more perfect film?? It has a bit of everything - catchy musical numbers, political tension, big houses, gorgeous costumes, romance and Nazis and nuns Grin

Anyone else a fan?

OdelayEEEE!

I'm enjoying it so much!

CorrBlimeyGG · 01/01/2022 15:42

I'm waiting for the bit where Priti Patel meets them at the border and tells them to go back where they came from.

PerkingFaintly · 01/01/2022 15:49

I haven't watched for years. It's aged really well, I think.

I’m watching despite having seen it loads of times before! Love it. My favourite bit is coming up (the cuckoo clock song).

Fireblanket · 01/01/2022 15:51

My annual New year's day treat!

Snuzzle · 01/01/2022 15:53

I’m watching too, can’t resist it. It’s my ultimate feel good film and I think it’s aged really well
My sister and I once watched it every day of the school holidays, that’s how much we love it Grin

My favourite ever film moment is when she walks down the aisle to meet him. It give me goosebumps every time and I don't think you will ever find two more gorgeous leads that what they are at that moment.

JanetandJohn500 · 01/01/2022 15:57

I love it but I'll still be anxious when they're hiding in the convent at the end!

WhatIsAWeekday · 01/01/2022 16:08

Love it. One of my all time favourites. Christopher Plummer was so handsome in it too, as Capt Von Trapp.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2022 16:09

I love it.

PerkingFaintly · 01/01/2022 16:09

Ooh, music about to well... So shall I...

Bananalanacake · 01/01/2022 16:10

I often wonder how many of us on this site were named after that film like me Grin

changeyourname11111 · 01/01/2022 16:23

Yes! Just watching it now, I love it so much. Never gets old.

Cookerhood · 01/01/2022 16:27

Love it! Only just realised that it's on.

HuntingoftheSnark · 01/01/2022 16:28

I so relate to and love this film! My father was a (very young - 19 when captured) German PoW, and a classical musician (we all had to play an instrument in the family orchestra) and my mother was in a convent, considering being a nun before she met him after his release from prison camp.

middleager · 01/01/2022 16:30

Only just realised it's on too. Perfect NYD film.

PerkingFaintly · 01/01/2022 16:30

custardbear45 · 01/01/2022 16:42

Love it so much. Maria walking down the aisle to 'how do you solve a problem like Maria' is just perfect. And Christopher Plummer is the ultimate dilf Grin

gettingolderandgrumpy · 01/01/2022 16:43

Love it !! Julie andrews is amazing.

RobotValkyrie · 01/01/2022 16:45

My parents hate it. I love it.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 01/01/2022 16:48

I love this film, to the extent that when dating my now husband he took me to sing-along-a-sound of music. He'd never watched it before and stood out in the audience a bit as a 25 yr old, heavily tattooed rocker waving his bit of adelweiss and trying to sing along 😆
