What jobs would put you off a new partner ?

Raonbowwatermelon · 30/12/2021 13:35

Lighthearted and not meant to offend.

My friend's neighbour has recently asked her out. He's lovely.

But....he works as a funeral director and my friend says she finds this so , so off putting.

This kind of reminded me of an ex boyfriend who dumped me when I went for an interview as aa trainee dental nurse, ( he had a complete phobia of the dentist). I didn't get the job anyway...

But it got me thinking , are there any jobs that would be a hard no from you from prospective partners:

Think I would struggle with Tory MP, Boarder force or bailiff tbh.

Humour me, self isolating and bored, ( and also want to persuade my friend that her neighbors job really isn't that bad...)

What, dare is ask, is a chugger?

It's a Charity Mugger livefor
The ones who pester cajole and sometimes use every dirty trick to get you to donate or even set up a SO or DD to the charity .

Deathraystare · 31/12/2021 12:19

As others have said, no police, army, bnavy, abbottoir worker, butcher (vegetarian), in pounds industry or stripper, nor a vicar.

Deathraystare · 31/12/2021 12:20

Porn industry not pounds!!!! Also not an mp.

RevolvingPivot · 31/12/2021 12:49
@userisi2 I know the pension isn’t final salary anymore but I know someone who retired a few years ago on final salary. The poster said their OH was at retirement age so he may still be final salary.

Our MQ are just under £400 and include a new build four bed semi, council tax and water rates. Houses on the same road rent for about £1,350 a month so we are pretty happy! My husband was deployed in the UK for 11 months last year so came home every weekend, petrol costs were high but didn’t add up to the difference in rent.
Ok well speak for yourself with low cost housing not everyone else. We are really struggling.

Guacamole001 · 31/12/2021 17:19

I wouldnt mind an ex porn star. At least they might be good in the sack. Lol.

Flowerpower23 · 31/12/2021 19:03

I would love a farmer. Anyone know of any? Wink

Benjispruce5 · 31/12/2021 19:05

Yuk @Guacamole001 would they really? I think not.

SalveVagina · 31/12/2021 20:38

Do it, OP! I was just thinking vaguely of starting one, but far better for you to do it.

If I could choose, I would date:

Barrister (either defence or prosecution - don't care which, as my friends are all barristers and are all clever so are therefore all beddable)

Musician, because they're good with their hands or tongues.

Writer, because they are purveyors of honeyed words.

I am not sure I'd have much in common with a doctor or a dentist as they might be a bit science-y, but that would suit me better than, say, a bank clerk or a shop assistant. I would probably piss the latter off, too.

VladmirsPoutine · 31/12/2021 21:03

There is nothing in this world that could get me to date a police officer.

Ohisitreally · 31/12/2021 21:10

Butcher, Abbatoir worker

ilssagain · 31/12/2021 21:13

@SalveVagina

Musician, because they're good with their hands or tongues

May I recommend natural horn players as they are exceptionally good with both?

foxlover47 · 31/12/2021 21:24

Anyone working at mbr beagles
Anyone whose job was say a terrier man for a fox hunt
Anyone working in a abattoir and that's largely due to a friend who did sales and had to visit a London based one and told me things I can't forget ( and yes I don't eat meat and vegan fully now )
More mainstream I wouldn't like to date a personal trainer only due to my insecurities and my body shape lol
I dated a runner earlier this year and he made me
Feel like a blobby

foxlover47 · 31/12/2021 21:25

I was also going to ask what is a chugger 🤣

FluffyBooBoo · 31/12/2021 21:31

Anyone in the public eye, don't care what role - politician, comedian, actor, singer/musician, news reader, chat show host. No thanks.

derxa · 31/12/2021 22:05

@ReginaaPhalange

Any job which involves hurting people or animals.

I once dated a farmer and he was, and still is, a lovely guy, but he said he feels no remorse when it comes to putting a bullet through the head of a lamb born with severe abnormalities......!!! He would do anything for anyone, but I just couldn't see past that comment. He says it's the quickest way to deal with the situation as lambing season can be so busy to wait around for a vet to administer an injection and you just don't know if the lamb is in pain etc. he might be right, but I just couldn't....

This sounds very unlikely: A lamb with severe abnormalities would die naturally I've never known my shepherd to shoot a newborn lamb You wouldn't call a vet out for this Newborn lambs with abnormalities are actually very rare. Honestly the stuff people write on here

What a cunt. Farmers are heartless bastards IME.

I've just said this doesn't happen. We're doing our best to keep lambs alive not shoot them. I've had many lambs in my kitchen trying to heat them up. Hell I've even given a lamb mouth to mouth resuscitation I wouldn't do that for a human

I’ve seen it happen and similar things. I presume you’re a farmer. You’re not on every farm so you can say it it doesn’t happen. It does. And of course you’ll try to save a lamb, they’re worth nothing to you dead.

Mandy8888 · 31/12/2021 22:28

@CorrBlimeyGG

Police officer, army, anything that comes with a high level of aggression.
Same
derxa · 31/12/2021 22:31

I’ve seen it happen and similar things. aye right. You've never been near a farm.

Vegetalienne · 31/12/2021 22:34

You've never been near a farm.

Confused I was brought up on one.

Really? what kind?
5thnonblonde · 31/12/2021 22:45

Once my DH came home v drunk and said he’d been out drinking with some farmers he’s met ‘what kind?’ I asked ‘just like, MEN’ were his drunken words as he collapsed into bed…

buckeejit · 31/12/2021 22:50

Well there are different kind of farmers but my brother who's a mini farmer & worked on one for many years, would definitely kill an animal himself if it wasn't going to thrive & it was easy to do himself.

My mum has just died & the funeral director has been ace, he's very likeable & that counts for a lot. It's a big tick for me. Couldn't date a politician or someone involved in sex work.

RoyalFamilyFan · 31/12/2021 22:56

Depends what you mean by thrive. Do you mean make money for effort put in to save them? Or just wont survive?
