Brilliant film.

Shit ending. Completely useless addition.

Anyone else?

Yes I just watched it tonight. I’m not sure what you mean about the addition? I liked it!

Tulips21 · 27/12/2021 23:56

Really pointless ending, I'm guessing you mean the naked bit!

Watched it last night, Dp loved it I wasn't fussed.
Leo, as always, great actor.

AnyFucker · 27/12/2021 23:57

Liked the film . Liked the ending. Both of them.

StrangeAddiction · 27/12/2021 23:59

Watched it earlier and while I can see the message behind it I thought it was ok, wouldn't watch it again but dh thought it was brilliant.

itwasntaparty · 27/12/2021 23:59

On my list...

TippledPink · 28/12/2021 00:00

Bit disappointing, didn't hold my attention. Felt a bit try hard.

Mogwaimummy · 28/12/2021 00:01

Have you watched the end credits?

I liked the film, but it did annoy me a bit. The whole Arianna Grande taking the piss out of herself thing. It did feel a bit like smug, sanctimonious actors by the end. I started thinking of that Team America film. Grin

BikesGoInTheShed · 28/12/2021 00:04

Yes. I meant the naked bit. It should have ended at [silence] (watched with captions)
I get it ties into what he told the president, but it seems off beat and to detract from the message? Dunno.
Also, ds just told me about the post credit scene with the son and social media. Didn't see it, but again, sound pointless, and also, how?!?

OP posts:
BikesGoInTheShed · 28/12/2021 00:05

Also raised good conversation with ds about how the guynwas lauded, the girl was written off as a nutter. Trying not to do spoilers here for those who haven't seen it!

Meh

Feelingoood · 28/12/2021 00:20

Why see a lady on top of a bloke shagging? Why? Why is she naked and we see her knockers ? Why? Why do I have to see this ? Why can’t they just be holding hands or why the f. Can’t she have some bloody clothes on? It REALLY pisses me off!

AgnesNaismith · 28/12/2021 00:25

I just hope Chris Witty doesn’t watch it for his own sake!

AgnesNaismith · 28/12/2021 00:25

@AgnesNaismith

I just hope Chris Witty doesn’t watch it for his own sake!
I'm planning to watch this and my mind is boggling 😂
BikesGoInTheShed · 28/12/2021 00:28

I still want a next slide please mug!

OP posts:
spotcheck · 28/12/2021 00:39

I couldn't make it to the end

hugocat · 28/12/2021 00:58

Switched it off after 20 mins

SufferingJet · 28/12/2021 01:04

Loved it. So there.

doubleshotcappuccino · 28/12/2021 01:11

Brilliant film -

echt · 28/12/2021 05:12

I couldn't get past how Leonardo de Caprio completely channeled/ripped off Johnny Galecki's Leonard Hofstadter of "The Big Bang Theory": the hair the specs, the vocal mannerisms, the hand-wringing/fidgeting.

Greyrootszerohoots · 28/12/2021 05:47

Watched it last night too and really enjoyed it. The post-ending bit wasn’t needed, I guess that was to bring it back to comedy but it took away from the final feeling.

I went on a Google deep dive of reviews after and was really surprised by negative views, but then it seems media and the groups it portrays negatively probably aren’t going to like it!

It actually left me feeling a bit like I did when I watched melancholia, though totally different style of film of course.

Kona84 · 28/12/2021 06:13

I think it was clever and is happening now in the context of climate change.
Just as it feels people are starting to take climate change seriously another distraction happens that makes us ‘not look up’
The ending with the naked bit says to me that those who are thinking there is a plan B are wrong and the grass isn’t greener.
The social media bit at the end was spot on too- amid disaster there is always someone still trying to get likes and followers.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 28/12/2021 06:23

I thought it was a brilliant satire about the climate change issues. Loved the film. I was a bit "meh" about the additional scene but overall thought it was amazing.

stayathomer · 28/12/2021 06:28

I hate that on social media if you didn't like it you obviously didn't get it or are living with your head in the sand- I knew from Leo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep being in it what it was going to be and it had such a great cast that I was excited for it but I actually think now if it hadn't been Jennifer Lawrence and them in it nobody would have watched. But I get some people loved it- to each their own, I only get a small window of tv watching time and I wish I hadn't watched it!!

Heruka · 28/12/2021 09:20

I think I missed the naked bit, was it after the credits?!
