I am, totally. I love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It has many layers of family significance for us. If I'm bored, depressed or stressed I will always listen to the soundtrack and feel better. I've seen it do many times in done many theatres, performed in ut, been the director as a teacher, watched my dad direct it when he was a teacher. Nothing else comes close!

In fact I'd quite like my funeral to feature a flash mob performance of the Megamix with confetti shooting from the wings.

When I was 16 I was obsessed with The Phantom of the Opera. Everyone else was listening to Blur or Oasis or Nirvana...I was listening to Michael Crawford. Hmm

Wouldyoubaby · 26/12/2021 19:29

I used to watch Rent over and over at night when I couldn’t sleep. It was reassuring as I knew it so well I could doze and not miss anything. Love the soundtrack still! Love Blood Brothers soundtrack too, and will always try see it when touring production in town.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 26/12/2021 19:35

Six is also amazing!

We are seeing Six in a few weeks (Covid allowing!) soooo excited!

Got obsessed with Hamilton during first lockdown when it was released on Disney+. Still listen to the soundtrack all the time. I’m not sure I could see it live though, it just wouldn’t live up to my expectations!

This! I just don't think the current cast could be as good. Miranda IS Hamilton, Soo IS Eliza. Grin

I went through a phase of listening to Les Mis almost constantly after first seeing it about20 years ago, butAnnie was my favourite film when I was about seven and I can still quotelarge chunks of it. We acted out scenes in the playground and I watched it every time I played with my friends who had a video.

Oh it really would!

I've seen it live in London and in San Francisco. Both productions subtly different and both amazing!

NewlyJingle2021 · 26/12/2021 20:03

Also Hamilton! I could listen to it or watch it everyday. Wish I could afford to see it live. When I was little it was also Joseph, my primary school made my year group audition to be in it so we were very familiar with all the songs. Sadly didn't get the gig!

When I was younger my absolute favourite was Miss Saigon. I used to get cheap student tickets and go at least once a week when it was on in my local city. It's just mind blowing and incredibly moving and beautiful.

If covid hadn't interrupted I would've been to see Book of Mormon and Lion King quite a few times too. Got tickets for Beauty and the Beast next year, praying covid doesn't ruin that as well. I just love musicals!

Rainallnight · 26/12/2021 20:06

Great thread. Cabaret for me, though went through a major Evita phase in my early teens and still love the soundtrack.

StillMedusa · 26/12/2021 20:07

Jesus Christ Superstar will always be my absolute favourite ..We go every time it tours or is in London.
SIX comes a close second though! I saw it for the first time this year and was blown away.. can't wait to go again!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 26/12/2021 20:12

Les Mis, is & always will be my favourite, but &Juliet & Everybody’s talking about Jamie are regularly on my playlist.
I saw Anything Goes at the Barbican in August & definitely got a bit obsessed with that! Sutton Foster & Robert Lyndsey were amazing!!

Pret50 · 26/12/2021 20:14

Blood brothers, seen it multiple times, love it

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 26/12/2021 20:15

We like Billy Elliot and Cats.

PodcastFunFair · 26/12/2021 20:15

Six got stuck in my head for months after so catchy same with Cats

swampytiggaa · 26/12/2021 20:18

I’ve seen Six 4 times now… absolutely love it and have a massive crush on Cleves (tour version)

Also adore Hamilton. Saw it in London April 2019 hoping to see it again at some point.

Jesus Christ Superstar will be constantly on my playlist from the end of January 😂😂 seen it a couple of times but would love to see it again 😊

DedafalalalalalusBloom · 26/12/2021 20:31

When I was a teenager in the 89s my friend and I were absolutely obsessed with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. We had the barn dance down pat in my front room. Still love it all these years later although West Side Story and Guys and Dolls have crept up on me as well.

OrangeBananaFish · 26/12/2021 20:35

I first heard Ex-Wives from Six back in June. I didn't know much about the musical at the time, just that it was about the 6 wives of Henry VIII. Then I listened to the soundtrack and it turned out that my top 5 listened to songs according to Spotify of 2021 were all from Six. Me and DD1 have got tickets to see it in January (covid depending obvs), cant wait. She is obsessed with Hamilton. I've told her to watch Les Mis too.

I also love love love Phantom and the sequel Love Never Dies.

MrsFionaCharming · 26/12/2021 20:38

Currently Legally Blonde. I’m devastated it’s no longer on and I’ve never seen it 😭

Branleuse · 26/12/2021 20:39

Hamilton is brilliant live. Ive seen it 3 times. I love the OST but the show is anotherlevel

OldHip · 26/12/2021 20:40

Anything Goes (with Robert Lindsay) is on BBC 2 now! It's very good.

I was obsessed with Fiddler On The Roof when I was a young teen. I used to wear scarves on my head and ask my mum repeatedly if I had any Russian or Jewish relatives. (I did not.)

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 26/12/2021 20:41

What's the film with a nobody in Jesus Christ Superstar? Along Came Polly? BLOODY BRILLIANT
