I am, totally. I love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It has many layers of family significance for us. If I'm bored, depressed or stressed I will always listen to the soundtrack and feel better. I've seen it do many times in done many theatres, performed in ut, been the director as a teacher, watched my dad direct it when he was a teacher. Nothing else comes close!

A star is born - Judy Garland/James mason
Goodbye mr chips o’toole and petula Clarke
West side story
Sondheim generally.

Another Sondheim fan here.

I saw Pacific Overtures at (I think) the Donmar twenty-odd years ago, and it was spine-tingling.

@HeronLanyon I LOVE ASIB and always wish I could watch the deleted scenes if they are ever found one day!

Innatenvi · 27/12/2021 23:11

The Wizard of Oz, always. It captured my imagination as a young child and never really let go since. I watch the film once a month at least and I've seen it in various stage shows, plus The Wiz many many times.

No.

They are all, without exception an awfulness. I have a very dear friend who's convinced that one day I will be persuaded by trilling and prancing during a good play

Doubt it.nope

I don’t think this is the thread for you, @SunscreenCentral

Anyway, back to the lovely musical chat...

Has anyone seen the Dear Evan Hansen movie yet? It's available for streaming at a premium price, wondering if it's worth it?

Saw the show in London with Sam Tutty as Evan but would love to see Ben Platt.

TravellingSpoon · 28/12/2021 12:05

I thought it was awful and not a patch on the stage production.

I am odd to see WSS with DD on Sunday which I am very excited about.

EsmeraldaFudge · 28/12/2021 12:27

I thought the same. A "nice" film but not a patch on the stage show

TravellingSpoon · 28/12/2021 12:30

Yes, its kind of like if you read a book you love and they make it into a dire movie. But if you hadn't read the book first you might thibk it was okay. Thats how I feel about the DEH movie.

MeredithMae · 28/12/2021 13:29

Wicked, definitely! The show blew my mind and the soundtrack is always on in my car.

anotherchocolate · 28/12/2021 18:04

I saw DEH at the cinema. Hadn't seen the theatre show before. Thought it was okay if completely farfetched and made me laugh unintentionally in several places.
