I’m on my own (with the dog Grin) for the next few days. Happy to bore you, the most excitement I’m going to get this Christmas is opening my work Secret Santa present. If you don’t count starting on oestrogen gel, that’s the other thing I’ve got lined up.

Turkey in. Yoga done. Off for a walk now. I'm feeling peaceful and liberated. Glass of something when I get back.

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 13:23

Not doing good am a blubbering wreck all I want and need is a hug from my husband only thing I can't have is a hug from my husband he always made things better

Yummypumpkin · 25/12/2021 13:26

I'm sorry. I didn't mean you were feeling ok. But I am glad you are on the thread and glad you're feeling your feelings. Grief is wracking. And I do understand today is so hard.

EducatingArti · 25/12/2021 13:37

@Tomanyhandbags
I'm so sorry it is so hard. 💕

AsanteSana · 25/12/2021 13:37

@MuthaFunka61 and @Tomanyhandbags Flowers

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 13:45

Yummypumpkin knew your message was meant in a positive way but it wasn't this hard last time and I know I coped better but seem to have developed a form of agoraphobia only feel safe at home it's a good job I had a back up plan and also had a dinner waiting for me at home, have taken my medication so hopefully will feel numb again soon

MuthaFunka61 · 25/12/2021 13:52

(((( @Tomanyhandbags ))))

Garysmum · 25/12/2021 13:57

@Toomanyhandbags - hugs. Wish I could say or do something more constructive but that's all I can offer

@Yummypumpkin well done on the yoga

I have returned from 2 very cold hours on the bike. Having a strong coffee

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 14:06

Am thankful for all your messages of support unfortunately there's nothing that can make it better but I will find ways to cope as time goes by

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 25/12/2021 14:27

Toomanyhandbags you're not the only one whose shed some tears today.

I'm the blacksheep of the family and today my mother/sister/baby niece are all celebrating a family Christmas together whilst I'm alone.

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 14:54

There will be lots of tears for some people but hopefully lots of smiles and laughter for others to. People can be cruel and spiteful as well as welcoming and kind at every time of year let's hope we all meet the good ones .

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 25/12/2021 15:09

My friend just sent me this.

Hope you have a restorative day spending some quality time with a really beautiful person!!

Let's see today as just that.

Love to all x

dapsnotplimsolls · 25/12/2021 15:12

Little Women is on Film 4 - good for a cathartic cry.

Mimilamore · 25/12/2021 15:13

Could be worse, I am surrounded by over tired children who woke at 13.30🙁 a floor that I can't walk across, poorly husband ( non Covid) and no space to put anything down.... looking forward to the lull between the weekends and a possible walk in nature😜

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 15:25

Enjoy the chaos believe it or not you will miss it when they grow up and will look forward to grandchildren so it will happen again. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 25/12/2021 15:31

Mimilamore

Whilst I understand you're trying to be funny but some of us would gladly swap to have even just one other person in the house to share the day with.

So sorry that you're surrounded by your family on a day like this.

forcedfun · 25/12/2021 15:40

@Mimilamore I would give anything to have my own overtired children here today. Or at least to got their dad to let them call me. I think there are probably better audiences for your post

Yummypumpkin · 25/12/2021 16:02

I'm on Mary Poppins Returns. It is sort of just right for my mood..but I will seek this out tonight!
Feedingthebirds1 · 25/12/2021 16:17

@Tomanyhandbags

I'm with you. Technically I'm not on my own today, I'm at my sister's, with her and her husband and daughter. But I'm here because DP of 44 years died on Monday, and I've never felt more alone or lonely. It should be the two of us at home, watching cheesy films and doing quizzes. Not this.

I understand.

Tomanyhandbags · 25/12/2021 16:25

Feedingthebirds1 yes you can be in a room full of people yet still feel very alone and the one person you turn to for comfort is missing and that's exactly why you need that comfort. At least you have family to support you mine chose to disown me when I got married so am missing them as well but somehow it was easier to put that into the background then. I hope you get some relief from your feelings in the coming year.

soyabean · 25/12/2021 17:06

Hello everyone. I’m sorry it’s such a hard day for so many of you. Flowers
I’m enjoying the quiet day tbh. I’m nearly better but tired and headachey still, and wouldn’t really have coped well with lots of people around. My isolation ends tomorrow. DS1 delivered meal cooked by DS2 which was delicious. And I’ve just watched Last Christmas. (Silly but an east watch, if you are looking for something)
I wish you all a peaceful evening

Graphista · 25/12/2021 17:59

@Tomanyhandbags so sorry you're having such a rough time. As someone just emerging from over 4 years housebound with agoraphobia please just be aware it creeps up on you. Today no biggie not getting out but get the support you need to ensure one day doesn't turn into a week, a month...

There's been a few tears here too mainly as missing dd.

@Iguessyourestuckwithme that's lovely

@Feedingthebirds1 so sorry for your loss too

@soyabean I wasn't sure as a huge George Michael fan if "last Christmas" would be any good esp as such a poor reception on release but it's not a bad wee film! But it can be a bit of a tearjerker (but not in the way you might think) and quite an apt movie for this thread the underlying message being "don't give up" maybe not for @Tomanyhandbags or @Feedingthebirds1

But for others they may enjoy it

awesomekilick · 25/12/2021 19:12

God what a miserable day for me and for so many of us. It's helped somewhat to know the at not everyone is mingling with loved ones today. My major cry was out walking earlier before people shut their curtains. I'm in the booze now please ignore any subsequent posts!

Yummypumpkin · 25/12/2021 19:17

Ah sorry to hear that @awesomekilick

Hope you have a nice tipple to hand now

misscockerspaniel · 25/12/2021 19:30

DoingWhatSheWants - I hope you got to see the launch of the James Watt telescope.

I am looking forward to watching Call the Midwife. What is everyone else planning on watching?
