Would you rather have two eyes or one large one?

I was pondering this morning as I put my mascara on that I’d save a lot of time if I only had one eye like cyclops.

But then I wondered if I actually would since presumably my one eye would be a very big one.

And then I thought that my one big eye would allow me to see much better than my 2 small ones (I’m ridiculously short sighted). So even if it didn’t save me time doing my make up, it would generally serve me better in the being-able-to-see stakes.

Anyway, I didn’t manage to reach a satisfactory conclusion to my pondering so thought I’d seek out other opinions.

Two. You’ve got a spare,

QuestionNumberOne · 22/12/2021 19:14

One big eye might affect your depth perception. So there’s that.

OhLookMoreShit · 22/12/2021 19:14

That made me laugh thank you!! How about this OP...

If you had to stick with one of the following, which would it be? If you HAD to...

Sing out loud the last word of every single sentence you ever say. Or... do a cringy little Bruce Forsythe style jig every time you leave a room...

The amount of times I stab myself in the eye with the mascara wand, I'd need two or I'd constantly be blinding myself temporarily.

IKissedSantaClaus · 22/12/2021 19:15

Two. When you're really tired you only need to open one at a time and can rest the other one.

Yes, I do have a newborn.

AmyFl · 22/12/2021 19:15

Yeah, at least there's another one if something happens to an eye 🙂

ClemDanFango · 22/12/2021 19:15

This has really tickled me Grin one big eye for sure GrinGrin

Grin id do the Bruce jig

Would you rather have four hands or four feet?

filka · 22/12/2021 19:15

Two - you wouldn't be able to judge distance, so you'd poke out the one with a mascara brush.

TenThousandSpoons · 22/12/2021 19:17

Two eyes are useful for seeing in 3d. Don’t think one eye would be better, no matter how big it was.

Wendyer · 22/12/2021 19:18

Hmm, seems 2 is the consensus. I’m not completely convinced yet. It’d be easier to just have one contact lens to shove in?

I’d sing the last word of every sentence, doing a Brucie jig would be exhausting.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 22/12/2021 19:20

You need two for depth perception. If you only had one you’d spend a lot more time doing your mascara because you’d either be too far away from your eye or you’d poke yourself in the eye and have to start all over. Plus it would hurt!

Wendyer · 22/12/2021 19:20

But you wouldn’t stab yourself as often if you had a big eye - you’d have a bigger area to work with

I definitely prefer two eyes and two ears

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/12/2021 19:21

I'd rather have two eyes and a spare set in the back of my head.

Would you rather have fingers like toes, or toes like fingers?

UpsilonPi · 22/12/2021 19:21

Two. I have very poor sight in one eye so I am very aware I have no back up if my good one goes wrong.
I can attest though that one eye is fine day to day. Maybe I'll just not bother with make up on the bad eye...

Wendyer · 22/12/2021 19:21

I’d have 4 feet I think. Could buy extra lovely shoes :)

Wendyer · 22/12/2021 19:22

Tors like fingers - you could hide them away more easily.

One eye would halve my contact lens bill, but presume this saving would be offset by the monocle I’d have to buy? Would it be one central eye? And is it just me with one eye, or will everyone have one eye?

Bruce jig
4 hands

Newbabynewhouse · 22/12/2021 19:23

Nah definitely two eyes! Like other pps have said depth perception and tou get a spare eye.. your one eye would be at least double the size so you'd use the same amount of makeup or more

YerWanIsGettinNotions · 22/12/2021 19:24

@Wendyer But you wouldn’t stab yourself as often if you had a big eye - you’d have a bigger area to work with

Bigger area to stab, you mean! 😂

itwasntaparty · 22/12/2021 19:24

Two for sure.

If I say 4 hands do I keep my two feet?

olderthanyouthink · 22/12/2021 19:24

I'm going to assume there's a reason eyes generally aren't that big. Elephants are waaaaaay bigger than us but their eye ball is only about 1.5cm bigger in diameter. Birds have the best eyesight and their eyes are pretty small.

One big blurry eye with not depth perception doesn't sound appealing

autumnboys · 22/12/2021 19:25

Two.

I have a 12yo who is constantly asking me these sorts of questions so I shall run it past him as well. Grin

WeThreeKingsofOrientAre · 22/12/2021 19:25

Two Eyes
A Brucey-style jig
Toes like fingers
