Would you rather have two eyes or one large one?

I was pondering this morning as I put my mascara on that I’d save a lot of time if I only had one eye like cyclops.

But then I wondered if I actually would since presumably my one eye would be a very big one.

And then I thought that my one big eye would allow me to see much better than my 2 small ones (I’m ridiculously short sighted). So even if it didn’t save me time doing my make up, it would generally serve me better in the being-able-to-see stakes.

Anyway, I didn’t manage to reach a satisfactory conclusion to my pondering so thought I’d seek out other opinions.

What a thread to find after a couple of mulled ciders!

I'd have 4 hands
Toes like fingers
Sing the last word of every sentence
Eat poo

I like the idea of one central eye but I'm clumsy so should probably stick with two just in case.

Oh and to PP asking about which side the diamanté wings would go on a monocle/glass...I think it would be appropriate to be winged on both sides, for evenness and pizzazz.

My son asked me about a week ago would I prefer a big spider to live in my belly button full time or occasional scorpions in my socks which I wouldn't be allowed to check for prior to adorning said socks.

I was completely stumped and still don't have an answer so I'll put it out there for you all as this seems the perfect thread for it.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 23/12/2021 00:49

@filka

Two - you wouldn't be able to judge distance, so you'd poke out the one with a mascara brush.
I've managed that despite having two since my eyesight deteriorated so much that a standard magnifying mirror is about as much use a the back of a soupspoon.

Think I'll opt for salon lashes in future. Far safer.

FilterFrog · 23/12/2021 00:59

Definitely spider in my bellybutton full time.

I have one foot where my toes work a bit like fingers and the other where they are just dumb toes. I prefer my finger toed foot.

I was trying to find some suitably glitzy glasses for the one-eyed amongst us and I came across these “no lens eye glasses”. Or, as I think most of us would describe them, these twisted bits of wire.

Would you rather have two eyes or one large one?

More suitably, I also discovered this. Of course, you’d have to adjust them and position them centrally. Or indeed, wherever your one eye happened to be.

And, if anyone would like to buy them, they’re £23 on Etsy. And £118 on eBay. Your choice …

One eye but only if it was on a stalk/stem on top of my head so that I could swivel it around and see all around me whenever I want. If I can't have the stalk then I'll take two eyes please and thank you.

3luckystars · 23/12/2021 01:56

A stalk is a mistake.

AliceMcK · 23/12/2021 02:05

I don’t wear mascara or eyeliner so happy with the two, I also think it’s more attractive to have two rather than one big eye in the middle of your head. You post did make me think of an old episode of Angel where people had an eye grow in the back of their heads, now that I could get on board with, especially with my kids!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 23/12/2021 02:08

I'd like 2 at the front and 2 at the back please (of my head) Smile

I'd probably not bother with the mascara though.

And 4 feet.

On the end of 4 legs.

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 23/12/2021 02:10

Ive just been obliged to poke dp awake to ask him and his response was ' I'll poke you in the twatting eye if you wake me up asking stupid questions again'

How bloody rude of him! But he did say eye, not eyes. So I think subconsciously he'd prefer one.

I however quite like having two, better for giving the dc the death stare for a start.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 23/12/2021 02:11

Ha! Didn't see AliceMcK's post before I posted mine!

FilterFrog · 23/12/2021 02:16

I imagine the death stare would be very intense with just one eye.

Holothane · 23/12/2021 02:56

I’ve only got one eye anyway so used to it,, but interesting question.eye middle of forehead?

Riverlee · 23/12/2021 03:03

Not really thought about it, but one of the best mumsnet post titles ever!

CheeseMmmm · 23/12/2021 03:18

Two! So covered if one not so good etc.

Made me think of thingy in Futurama!

Hmm.

Bees flies have amazing eyes.

Butterflies, bees... And I'm sure more. Anyway.

Can see ultraviolet!!!!

When they see flowers they have all this extra colour pattern etc that we can't see!

If choice then I've decided. (Assuming this is norm and wouldn't get whisked to USA area whatever with the aliens).

Three eyes for extra backup.

Like a bee. Just googled they look like massive awesome really black shades Grin

CheeseMmmm · 23/12/2021 03:19

One is ok if never degrades, squints etc never happen, and they are impervious to damage completely.

Still needs to be like bee though.

Final answer Chris!

Atmywitsend29 · 23/12/2021 03:27

Definitely two. I love winged eyeliner and I've no idea how id do winged liner on one big eye?

CheeseMmmm · 23/12/2021 03:43

One wing each side of massive eye.

Would be vv striking I reckon.

FindingMeno · 23/12/2021 04:53

You know what op? You've made a lot of stressed people smile with this thread and that's much needed I think at the moment.
Thank you Flowers

FlamingGoat · 23/12/2021 06:37

I would like two but the ability for them to come out on stalks for gigs and swivel as I'm short.

Wendyer · 23/12/2021 10:36

That’s a lovely thing to say, thank you :)

I hope I haven’t inadvertently added to the stress though, forcing such difficult decisions on people.

You could compensate for the one eye by having three ears, like in Star Trek.
A left ear, a right ear, a final frontier...
Sorry. Couldn't resist!

AffIt · 23/12/2021 16:20

I know that your ears aren't completely symmetrically placed on either side of your head so that you can hear in stereo, but would more ears be useful? Like maybe four? Where would the other two go?

Crankley · 23/12/2021 18:10

I had no idea we had a choice Shock
