I'm so fucking broody. Tell me all the terrible things about having a baby.

I'm really, really broody.

I have one 15 year old DC who I had young. Raising him has been a challenge to say the least. Freedom is within sniffing distance. So WHY am I suddenly so desperately broody?!

I know it's probably my hormones. So please remind me of all the rubbish parts of having a baby (or the wonderful parts about having kids so old they no longer need you!).

You never sleep and you have no money.

Iamtired123 · 21/12/2021 22:05

LACK OF SLEEP

Dozer · 21/12/2021 22:06

Sleep deprivation. Loss of free time and autonomy.

Stiffcondomhat · 21/12/2021 22:07

Its just mother nature pranking you love. Keep calm and carry on with your sensible contraception methods Grin

You give up your social life, your career prospects, your body to them. You have to listen to their inane banter for YEARS. They mostly don’t give a fuck about your well being. All the things you love doing you won’t be able to do anymore.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 21/12/2021 22:07

School runs, constant illness, no sleep, no time for a wee on your own, no time for exercise, no sleep, illness, no sleep....

LemonCake79 · 21/12/2021 22:07

Sorry OP, babies are just lovely. I'd have another one tomorrow.

I can offer up the awfulness of toddlers, teenagers and 30 odds that want you to babysit for them. Babies are like puppies at Christmas in that respect...!

Doublechins · 21/12/2021 22:07

Babies are awesome....but then they grow up

Bouncer500 · 21/12/2021 22:08

Bad points about having a baby are - no sleep, boredom, worrying about them all the time. The rest of it is just lovely.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 21/12/2021 22:08

Oh yes the career hit...
The figure going to shit and additional wrinkles from the LACK OF SLEEP Sad

RandomMess · 21/12/2021 22:09

The 2nd one trashes your stomach and fanjo if the first one didn't Sad

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 21/12/2021 22:09

It’s your hormones. Don’t do it. I have a 17 yo and a 2 yo, as well as 2 in between. Dealing with a toddler now I’m older is bloody miserable. I suspect I’m in peri menopause so everything is pissing me off atm, but hormonal me and unreasonable toddler is not a good mix. I’m not enjoying it half as much as I did my others. Sad but true.

RandomMess · 21/12/2021 22:10

Imagine having a 13 year old but when you are 14 years older than you are now 😳

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 21/12/2021 22:10

And yes to the constant illness. This house has been like a plague pit since dd started nursery in September. 2 sickness bugs and counting Envy

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 21/12/2021 22:11

I do love teeny tiny newborns though Bear

Sometimes the egg gets excited and SPLITS and then you have TWINS who don't nap at the same time and wake each other up in the night. Even at two.

TokyoSushi · 21/12/2021 22:13

The lack of sleep, the crying, the constant logistical juggling, the expense! They are lovely though!

Stiffcondomhat · 21/12/2021 22:13

I'll be in full menopausal swing when my youngest dd hits puberty. What kind of sick joke is that!

HalleLouja · 21/12/2021 22:14

As you already know babies turn into teenagers. 😂

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 21/12/2021 22:14

Before I clicked on the thread I was going to say they turn into teenagers. Hold out for grandkids!

prettymum · 21/12/2021 22:14

Think of all the stuff you have to pack for a trip outside.... and you can't give them back... Oh and forget the lie ins.
