Supposed to be going to sleep, but as per usual am wasting time, for some reason unbeknown reason to, I like to avoid sleep 🙄

Anyone else awake (and why😁)?

I’m awake again, today we’re visiting someone very special again, so that kept me awake until about 2ish. I finally starting feeling sleepy and then they dog decided he needed a wee, half an hour later I was starting to snooze and my son woke up and put an end to that. Five hours of driving will be fun today.

@garlictwist

I am awake as I have a sore throat and a bit of a cold (lateral flowed negative). I was going to try get my booster today at a walk in clinic but I wonder if I should wait until the cold has gone. Anyone know?
As long as you don't have a fever you'll be ok to have your booster

Hope the journey is ok, take regular breaks xx

Awake here on the sofa....fucking dh and his snoring

Lauren1983 · 18/12/2021 03:33

Checking in. Night number 11 of very little sleep due to a virus. I've kinda forgotten what nice normal sleep is like. My cough isn't too bad during the day but as soon as I get into bed it starts up with a vengeance.

checkedcloth · 18/12/2021 04:13

Awake on the sofa here too. Going through a terrible period on insomnia at the moment, lots of menopause symptoms at the moment despite increasing my HRT.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 18/12/2021 05:42

I've been awake most of the night, despite not looking at my phone.
If course, now I'm desperate to close my red, slitty eyes and drift off.

SweetsAndChocolates · 18/12/2021 07:37

@FlyingHighandDry so sorry to hear that Thanks

It's awful not being able to sleep because of illness.

Going to be a long night tonight, think I've managed to catch the virus (I thought I escaped whilst dcs and dh had it).

Hope everyone else is doing better

@RobertSmithsLipstick hope you manage to get some sleep tonight

OP posts:
RobertSmithsLipstick · 19/12/2021 02:00

Meh.
Can't see me getting much sleep tonight.
How you feeling?

1WeekTillChristmas · 19/12/2021 02:20

Just laying in bed after a day of wrapping presents and my feet are swollen

Just praying like most, that Boris doesn't lock us down for Christmas

1WeekTillChristmas · 19/12/2021 02:21

Poor u @SweetsAndChocolates

I think everyone is praying that they dont get ill in the next week

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 02:52

Can I join? I've hurt my back and need to sit bolt upright, rang our out of hours care (I'm in Northern Ireland) and it's going to be 7 hours for a callback from a Dr, I just need some proper pain killers 😢 my lovely DH is asleep on the sofa beside me despite me telling him to go to bed. The spasms are taking my breath away, and I am so so tired

BarbaraLoganPrice · 19/12/2021 03:01

Awake here. We went shopping yesterday and youngest DD dropped her favourite stuffed toy. I usually strap it in so I am blaming myself, DH blaming himself as he was pushing the buggy when I went to get my hair cut and didnt notice her throw it out.
Searched everywhere, did two lots of tracing our steps and asked in every shop. No sign. She's been awake crying for it and I can't get back to sleep, I feel so stressed I've got an ache across my front. Think she'll be OK, luckily she has a backup but I just keep thinking of someone taking it home with them and how much she's missing it.

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 03:17

Oh no, that happened to us when my DD was a tot, one of those impossible to replace because it was discontinued jellycat toys, we had a few nights of years but I managed to get something similar from ebay and she made her peace with it, try posting on your local town's FB page, FB marketplace etc

IKnowAPlace · 19/12/2021 03:22

Awake here. Brother who lives miles away is having a serious breakdown and tried to hurt himself tonight. Apparently it's been going on for weeks. I need to stay awake until 6am to see when my dad can get there to let my younger brother get some sleep.

Not entirely sure why I'm on mumsnet! Really worried, I suppose.

Blizy · 19/12/2021 03:22

I'm awake. Just got Covid results and my 6 yo ds is positive (a symptomatic) and waiting to hear for my 1yo dd who has symptoms and mine. I'm devastated that our Christmas plans are cancelled, my dad died a few weeks ago and we have planned to have Christmas with my mum and siblings. I now
Can't sleep.

SparkleWhale · 19/12/2021 03:25

Awake here. I think sertraline is messing with my body and causing insomnia (began taking it on Tuesday 50mg and I'm usually exhausted).

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 03:28

Blizy one of my kids has tested positive too so put Christmas plans are out the window, your poor mum I'm sure she will miss having you all there to support her, first Christmas without a loved one is very hard

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 03:29

iKnow hope your brother is ok, I'd be worried too

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 03:30

Sparkle could be the medication, I wish I could sleep too, I'm utterly exhausted but in so much pain, don't know how I'll get through the day tomorrow if this continues

IKnowAPlace · 19/12/2021 03:31

Ah, I'm sorry that Covid is messing up your plans. I hope it's fairly mild.

@Roadhouse111 thank you

Blizy · 19/12/2021 03:32

Sorry to hear that @Roadhouse111 how is your ds? My dd had a brief temperature, has a runny nose and is very irritable, poor thing has been so upset all day. I got her tested yesterday and thought I'd just test ds too as a precaution, was not expecting him to be positive! He was at Besvers yesterday Shock he has asd so the next 10 or more days are going to be torture.

Krustykrabpizza · 19/12/2021 03:36

@SparkleWhale

Awake here. I think sertraline is messing with my body and causing insomnia (began taking it on Tuesday 50mg and I'm usually exhausted).
I had this awfully when I started sertraline, it was hellish but it does wear off. Took less than two weeks for me.

I'm up as I have a UTI. Currently just sitting on the toilet waiting for the antibiotics and painkillers to work. Got a three year old to look after tomorrow Xmas Sad

Roadhouse111 · 19/12/2021 03:37

Blizy my DD had it last week, we only tested as she was a close contact with a positive case, her isolation ends today, and we were doing our day 8 PCR and my DS tested positive, so far me and DH have escaped it, track and trace said it would be very unlikely for us to get it now having been exposed for so long. Both kids had stuffy nose and headaches, but nothing Calpol couldn't fix, there's bound to be so many people walking around who have it and don't even know!
