Supposed to be going to sleep, but as per usual am wasting time, for some reason unbeknown reason to, I like to avoid sleep 🙄

Anyone else awake (and why😁)?

@HelloDaisy @sashh

Yes this is my first. No sign of waters breaking although I have experienced trickles the last couple of days which may or may not have been wee Blush

I do feel quite calm, maybe because I went to baby classes and I just feel ok about things. Can't change anything now, baby has to leave my body somehow!!

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 13/12/2021 04:48

I had my booster today, my arm is aching. It's my bad shoulder anyway, so always aches, which is why I asked for the injection in that arm so I could lie on my other side, but nothing feels comfortable tonight. And the cat wanted to go out, so kept pestering me.

HelloDaisy · 13/12/2021 04:52

NatMoz I felt quite calm about it too and excited that we would finally be able to meet our gorgeous baby.

sanityisamyth · 13/12/2021 04:54

I wake up at 2am most mornings and then can't get back to sleep. Currently watching Happy Valley to pass the hours before I have to do the school run.

Silkieschickens · 13/12/2021 05:01

Awake as have stage 3 cancer, being tested to see if stage 4 two weeks ago, don't get results until 20th and currently saying I am not allowed to see a doctor then only a nurse then will see a doctor then a further 6 weeks before any treatment. Worried sick as have 2 kids who need me and also having to isolate as if I get covid surgery gets delayed a further 7 weeks. Going to try and shift to private but its so expensive.

MrsTimRiggins · 13/12/2021 05:17

Back again! Same reason as before, hungry five week old!
I do have my darling dog for company tho, every time baby wakes in the night, the dog escorts me the whole way to baby… which is the grand distance of across our bedroom, from bed to armchair where he sits on the back of the chair supervising Grin

tiredanddangerous · 13/12/2021 05:17

I woke up at 4 and my brain switched on. Happens a few times a week and means I'll be half asleep at my desk by lunch time.

Flowers for everyone who's struggling

Holidaytan · 13/12/2021 05:50

I was awake reading this thread at 4am - very unusual for me.
I dropped off for about an hour and then had a horrendous sleep paralysis/night terror where I was convinced I was awake but couldn’t move.
Could feel a rogue cat walking on the bed that had got into the room and saw my husband standing over me about to wake me up, but he kept dithering and I realised I still wasn’t awake.
When I eventually did wake up I’ve had to get up and put all the lights on (just to check I actually am awake as these dreams/terrors can involve 3 or 4 ‘wakings’ until I’m actually awake) as I’ll be freaked out for a bit now and reluctant to sleep, although I’ve got over 6 hours and around 300 miles of motorway driving to do today, so I need to kip.

I know it’s morning for some, but I can sleep for another 3 hours, so it’s deffo night for me!

voxnihili · 13/12/2021 06:18

I’ve been up most of the night after side effects from my Pfizer booster. Got a bit of a sore arm for the first two but this time it’s been something else. I’ve also been itchy all over but only mild.

Finally got to sleep and then DD (3.5) decided 4.30 was morning. She’s always been a great sleeper through the night but is a chronic early riser. We’ll leave for work / pre-school just before 7 but which time it will feel like lunchtime.

GoldenOldBoy · 13/12/2021 06:27

I've been awake on and off all night. Ex DP forgot to pack the dc's Christmas jumpers when he dropped them off yesterday and they need them for the nativity play. He said he'd drop them round at 4:30am this morning before work. I said to knock gently on my bedroom window and I'd just grab them through the window.

We'll, my brain didn't like that and I've spent all night having the weirdest dreams/nightmares about different people knocking on my bedroom window. Ex DP featured several times, random people I haven't spoken to in years, complete strangers and even my deceased dad. I'm knackered!

DinkBoo · 13/12/2021 07:53

Good morning everyone Flowers

A gentle hug to everyone having a terrible time. I hope today is easier on you.

I fell asleep around 5, awake again at 7, and should really have got myself out of bed by now. I am going to try to motivate myself out of bed with the promise of a Lemsip, and hopefully a gentle day of answering emails and preparing for tomorrow's teaching.

SweetsAndChocolates · 15/12/2021 01:09

Another night, same routine 😬

I should go to bed, both dc seem to be able to sleep tonight (darn cold/cough) so no excuse...but some things never change 😁

Same here.
My sleep pattern is off the scale.
I had a really long nap earlier and of course, am awake now.
Just eaten two mince pies and given myself heartburn into the bargain.

Same. Minus the mince pies Grin I actually sleep better in the day or very early evening Confused
TuftyMarmoset · 15/12/2021 01:14

I’m awake because if it’s 5-7pm on the sofa of course I can doze off (but don’t let myself), but when it comes to bedtime and lying in bed I’m the most awake I get all day 🤦‍♀️

RobertSmithsLipstick · 15/12/2021 01:17

I'm also on steroids, so not sure if I'm on my arse or my elbow these days.

SweetsAndChocolates · 15/12/2021 01:18

@TuftyMarmoset sounds just like me!

repottingthescabious · 15/12/2021 01:26

same as me. Woke up a while ago. my latest trick is thinking about the cat and focusing on relaxing but not trying to sleep. I like wordsearches.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 15/12/2021 01:27

I keep playing a ridiculous bubble pop game on my phone - like I don't have a million more pressing things to do.

TuftyMarmoset · 15/12/2021 01:30

One thing that actually does help me sometimes is watching videos on YouTube of people having their hair brushed. Strangely relaxing!

PinkPlantCase · 15/12/2021 01:32

I’m awake because I’m convinced that once I fall asleep my baby will wake up.

It’s rather frustrating. I’m almost willing him to wake up so I can get some sleep

RobertSmithsLipstick · 15/12/2021 01:33
Grin
SweetsAndChocolates · 15/12/2021 01:34

@RobertSmithsLipstick ah yes games! I keep telling myself to leave phone downstairs...maybe tomorrow 😂

I also thought, no I won't watch anything on Netflix, but have just spent 2 hours watching a movie (it wasn't even that good Confused)

I woke at 1 again, just as per my post two days ago, saw the drug I'm meant to take every night at ten pm still sitting by my bed. It's a maintenance drug for ovarian cancer, I have to report a missed dose to the oncology team. Can't take it more than an hour after the scheduled time. I've never forgotten before. Had a bit of a panic, but have calmed down; I hope it's not too big a deal.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 15/12/2021 01:49

Did you take it or just leave it for tonight?
You'll have to set an alarm for 10pm or something.
