What name did your DH come up with for your babies that you hated?

DH wanted to call our first DD Charlie.

Fucking Charlie!

SO many lovely girls' names and he comes up with that.

Sorry if your is called that...it's nice enough I suppose but it's just not something I'd choose for a girl.

Buddy (the fucking elf) he nearly wore me down too as I couldn't think of a name we both loved. Good job baby came out a girl. Phew!

@Aussiegirl123456

Our first son, husband really wanted to call him Shefki (pron chef key) after shefki kuqi, a polish soccer player I had a crush on.
I quite like Shefki!

Left to his own devices my husband would have chosen Clifford for our first born which I vetoed from the start. Our second daughter he suggested the name of a cartoon character. Not a niche anime character, a character from a strip cartoon in the daily paper. However it is a beautiful name with lots of lovely options for shortening it and it met our criteria to include a not to his grandmother so we went with it.

Melanie… nothing wrong with it but definitely not my cup of tea.

Although I wanted toaster for a boy so can’t talk.. lol

LemonElephant · 26/11/2021 10:48

He's just reminded me of another one!... Marcelo Shock AKA the leeds untied manager!! Honestly I don't know how i've put up with him for so long.. Grin

My exH wanted Primrose. Primrose ffs - could that sound any more like a farmers pet name for a cow? 🤦‍♂️😂 absolutely over my dead body!

MooseBreath · 26/11/2021 10:52

DS wanted Marceline for a girl and Merlin for a boy. Nothing particularly wrong with either name, but so not what I wanted!

Nsws2015 · 26/11/2021 10:54

I opened this with Charlie in my head 🤣 my dh and kids wanted to call youngest ds Charlie, I wanted Sebastian. They watched some stupid twisted unicorn thing where they would say Charlie in a really irritating (to me anyway 🤣) way and I was absolutely against it. My waters went and on the way to the hospital I went into a panic that we hadn't settled on a name....I ended up agreeing to Charlie just so he had a name, but it suits him to perfection and I honestly couldn't see him as anything else now after all that!!

I wanted Primrose and DH was horrified! He was all "NO WAY!" and I still think it's lovely.

My ex told me that in no uncertain terms his first son would be named Alan... Yeah we never ended up having kids (for more reasons than just that)

God DD (who wasn't Charlie) was nameless for two weeks! She was just "The Baby" whilst we wrangled.

Tbh in my experience it’s normally the Mums who come up with the dumbest names that kids would never want. Either something really pretentious for boys like Orlando or Theodore or something that they think is cute but the kid will hate, or something that is a nickname of a pop star or celeb for girls like Billie or Court (yes Court).

Musmerian · 26/11/2021 11:00

@PearlAsylum

Edmund.

Classic name, yes, but I could only think of Blackadder and the horrible Narnia one.

My second DS’s name! I love it but in a weird twist of fate he looks like a more handsome version of Roman Atkinson. Also you forgot Edmund from King Lear and the fact that he is the patron saint of pandemics!
AledsiPad · 26/11/2021 11:00

Linda.

Really!

TarasCrazyTiara · 26/11/2021 11:02

@Lairymary

Bad news for you, he can still nickname a child Buddy at any time, very few Buddies were actually born Buddy.

MiddleEasternMummy · 26/11/2021 11:02

@CatonMat

A combination of the two beautiful names - Carolanne with Ann as a nickname, maybe?
Both those names so old hat and not very nice in my opinion.
SelfHelpPlease · 26/11/2021 11:02

My DH suggested Evelyn, Ruby and Isabella! Not for me.

Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow · 26/11/2021 11:04

Floyd. We settled on Oliver, which wasn’t even a top 100 name back then. We couldn’t have known how popular it would become. There were none at school with him then it exploded about twenty years ago.

Yeah, I have no problem with it as a nickname, it's the formal situation. I couldn't imagine Buddy as an adult being taken particularly seriously. It made me cringe thinking about it!

Missrabbitt · 26/11/2021 11:16

DD1 (3yo) was absolutely desperate to call our second baby Colin. When I was pregnant she would tell everyone the baby was going to be Colin and went crazy when we suggested otherwise. She eventually accepted that if the baby was a girl she would not be called Colin but stuck to her guns that a boy would have to be Colin. Thankfully the baby ended up being DD2 and DH has had a vasectomy so we will never know the consequences of not calling a boy Colin (or have a son called Colin).

TuftyMarmoset · 26/11/2021 11:16

Moira for a girl. We are not Scottish/Irish and we’re not having a 90 year old Confused

Fittowork · 26/11/2021 11:17

My husband wanted Theresa - which I didn’t like - he didn’t even think on that our surname is Green.

Borderterrierpuppy · 26/11/2021 11:17

Depends on the child, my youngest has autism and will tell me absolutely verbatim what happened, my middle is quite the Walter Mitty if it suits his plans and my eldest can be somewhere between the two :)

musicviking1 · 26/11/2021 11:17

My husband liked Abigail, I don't hate it but I wasn't keen on calling our baby it.
