As she has apparently sprained her back.

I do wish the Palace would be honest about her health (without giving details) rather than setting her up to attend events that they know she won't be at. It can't be good for her, they should just say she's out for a while, which at her age would be completely understandable.

So climate change isn’t really a top priority for him? What a joke.

peridito · 16/11/2021 12:09

So ,to be clear BiLumniouswhich do you think is most likely

a) that people die in their early 70s of osteoporosis
or
b) that people live into their 80s and 90s with osteoporosis and then die because of one of the many conditions that accompany old age.

He has flown to Jordan at the request of the British Government for diplomatic reasons. How would you suggest he gets there ?
Laiste · 16/11/2021 13:29

Royal row boat.

Butler rows, obvs.

PickupaPenguin8 · 16/11/2021 14:00

Haha! Maybe it’s time for the Govt to stop making such requests and look at ways to cut down air travel as much as possible. Especially on private jets. I can’t believe PC visiting Jordan is really absolutely vital .

SickAndTiredAgain · 16/11/2021 14:24

I can’t believe PC visiting Jordan is really absolutely vital.

It probably isn’t. But it also probably isn’t really within Charles’ power to refuse. The royal family won’t want stories about them refusing to do government requested visits that shore up “strong bilateral relations” (quote from the British embassy about the trip). They’re already called workshy as it is.

I mean, I’m sure they don’t do everything that’s asked, and I’m sure there’s some negotiation (“you’ve asked for Charles and Camilla for four days? We can do you Anne for three”). But still, whether you agree with it or not, this sort of thing is a big part of their stated reason for being kept around.

Roussette · 16/11/2021 14:31

Yes, they have to, in their mind, do this sort of stuff to stay relevant.

Laiste · 16/11/2021 14:41

Yes, diplomacy and charity work is often given as the 'point' of the royal family. Promoting Britain and being here and being there and visiting what ever and who ever ...

I'm no big fan of Charles but he's not an idiot and must know that we're watching his air miles. Perhaps he'd love to cut back?

I guess to properly cut his carbon footprint he'd have to become not much more than a glorified 'gentleman farmer' though ...

So as soon as someone raises the important issue of climate change, they’re no longer allowed on a plane without getting slated?

What a silly thing to say. Have a Biscuit

KeflavikAirport · 16/11/2021 15:22

PC can fuck off. What expertise does he have in diplomacy, or Middle Eastern affairs, or anything, the massive hypocrite? He should stay at home, shut the fuck up, and learn how to squeeze his own toothpaste.

HarrisonStickle · 16/11/2021 15:38

Charles, Camilla, Anne, Edward, Sophie, William and Kate are now all stepping up to carry out the Queen's duties so she can rest over Winter apparently.

I think for whatever reason she's now incapacitated and we won't be seeing her out and about again.

I'm erring on the side of her still doing her Christmas message as it can be done over time, and plenty of editing can be done to present a good finished product. It wouldn't surprise me if the others contribute to it quite a bit.

SickAndTiredAgain · 16/11/2021 15:50

I think she’ll do a Christmas message as normal, I don’t see why it would need lots of contribution from others. When you watch it it’s pretty heavily padded with footage from the year anyway, actual talking time is really not very long, especially considering you wouldn’t have to record it all at once.

ancientgran · 16/11/2021 15:59

@diddl

Just read that Charles has flown to Jordan & Egypt for four days so perhaps that's an indication that things aren't serious?

Although I'm sure he could be back quickly so maybe it's not an indication of anything!

The Queen was abroad, think it was Kenya, when her father died.
Roussette · 16/11/2021 16:00

She has to do a Christmas message because it's tradition in our family for us all to stick a couple of quid each in a pot and guess what colour she'll wear. I won last year 😇

KeflavikAirport · 16/11/2021 16:01

yes but her father died unexpectedly quite young.

Malibuismysecrethome · 16/11/2021 16:01

I believe the Christmas message is actually filmed during the summer months so HM may have already prepped for it.

HarrisonStickle · 16/11/2021 16:03

I suppose I meant that others would contribute as the start of a transitional phase. What if she can't actually do it?

ancientgran · 16/11/2021 16:08

@KeflavikAirport

yes but her father died unexpectedly quite young.
But they dealt with it, I mean if people could jet home in the 50s I'm sure they can do it now.

I would imagine this was planned sometime ago, there must be all sorts of issues to sort out.

ancientgran · 16/11/2021 16:13

@KeflavikAirport

yes but her father died unexpectedly quite young.
He had been ill for some time, had lung cancer and had a lung removed the year before.
Rinoachicken · 16/11/2021 16:23

So Prince Edward has just made a speech on behalf of his mother abs said something very odd to me.

“ Prince Edward told bishops and clergy at Church House, the Westminster headquarters of the Church of England, that his mother sent her "sincere and deep apologies that she cannot be here today.” The Queen's youngest son added: "I think you probably understand why, and she regrets that deeply."

WTF does that mean??!!

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 16:26

She's Head of the Church of England and can't be there at an important event for the said Church?

Rinoachicken · 16/11/2021 16:27

Yes Inknow that, but it’s the ‘you probably understand why’ that I find odd.

ancientgran · 16/11/2021 16:27

She's a human being, not actually a God.

He’s always a very welcome visitor where I live.

He’d had lung cancer for quite some time.
