As she has apparently sprained her back.

I do wish the Palace would be honest about her health (without giving details) rather than setting her up to attend events that they know she won't be at. It can't be good for her, they should just say she's out for a while, which at her age would be completely understandable.

@VladmirsPoutine

In any other job she would have been sacked for being so work shy.

That's why she was savvy enough to become a princess. It basically grants you a ticket to have the utmost lavish lifestyle without having to lift a finger. I'm sure she could hire someone to change her pad if she so desired.

There there now. We’ve noticed you.
julieca · 15/11/2021 00:06

@PriamFarrl you do know on that basis virtually everything people say about the RF is gossip?

My first big Royal event that I remember was also Princess Anne's wedding to Cpt Mark Philips in 1974! Friends had a colour telly so the whole estate went around to their house to watch. There were lovely stamps too, I had a bit of a crush on Princess Ann, would have been 9 years old. I remember someone tried to kidnap her in the '70's too, bet she just told them to bog off!

I think she did! When the attempted kidnapper told her to come with him she is meant to have said, 'not bloody likely'. Prince Phillip is meant to have joked that she would have given him 'a hell of a time'.

@Roussette

I would rather plant 1,000 cockroach eggs in my earhole than marry in to the royal family. Grin It would be hell on earth for me, I like being me and I couldn't be me in that family

Well after reading this thread i fully expected to turn on BBC Breakfast and find them in full mourning announcing the death of the Queen!

I should take less notice of MN Grin

No news is good news.

I expect she is just frail , as are most at 95 , and it is true that a bad patch can level out . My husband still has his GF living independently at 104 . That said , given the late decision it’s also possible that she has had a minor stroke , a fall, or has been said before a recurring infection . Who knows, I do think she should appoint a regent though.

peridito · 15/11/2021 09:28

I agree with posters remarking on how distressed Charles ( and Camilla ) looked at the memorial service on Sunday .Of course it was a very sombre occasion ,but I thought they looked very strained .

I'm inclined to think the Queen has had a fall or a stroke ,something sudden and serious . Watching her at the opening of the Scottish parliament it's apparent that she's quite unsteady on her feet with a worrying tendency to sort of cross her feet over each other as she walks .

HarrisonStickle · 15/11/2021 09:34

I'm glad someone else has mentioned her stumbling gait at the Scottish Parliament. She was also sitting down about to sign something, dropped her pen and looked very confused about it, until someone picked the pen up and handed it to her. Perhaps her cognitive awareness is slipping a little.

The next event is her Christmas speech isn't it? I wonder how that will go.

diddl · 15/11/2021 10:02

"The next event is her Christmas speech isn't it? I wonder how that will go."

Possibly already done?

"I agree with posters remarking on how distressed Charles ( and Camilla ) looked at the memorial service on Sunday .Of course it was a very sombre occasion ,but I thought they looked very strained."

My first thought was that Camilla was unwell & PC concerned for her.

Would equally make sense that HM is ill & they are both concerned.

EdithWeston · 15/11/2021 10:19

It's recorded in dvance, but not this far in advance. It used to be done very close to the day of broadcast, but now it's about a week before.

Too many people would know if it was unexpectedly brought forward by over a month, so I really don't think it'll have been done already. Not if the aim is for business as usual (both genuinely, and also for appearances of)

diddl · 15/11/2021 10:26

Yes I was thinking it might be a bit early, but also thinking if HM has had less of a schedule than usual this year a chance might have been taken to get it out of the way iyswim.

KeflavikAirport · 15/11/2021 10:31

PC has just come away from COP26. Hopping on a provate jet to LA would not be a good look.

You mean W&K do a whopping FIVE DAYS WORK A WEEK between them? Wow, I am in awe.

peridito · 15/11/2021 10:37

diddl - that thought ,about Camilla being ill ,also crossed my mind .Her face is much thinner and she looks drawn to me . At the Scottish Parliament she seemed unable to stop fiddling with her programme .Very unsettled .

Though who knows ,she's getting older and maybe sitting on a chair by herself exposed to lots of MPs and others is more than enough reason to be unsettled !

HailAdrian · 15/11/2021 10:37

None of this is worrying though? She's 95, it's a 'good' age to die. She's lucky tbh.

I looked at the court circular last night. In November William and Kate did two whole days of work related to Cop 26. This counted as 6 engagements each. Each event or talk at Cop 26 they attended was billed as a separate engagement.
Apart from that, Catherine attended one early years meeting, and that is it.
William visited MI5 - just visited no ceremony, or speech. And took over on behalf of the Queen an investiture. He only did that because the queen was not well enough.
I read the court circular fairly regularly. This was a pretty busy fortnight for William and Catherine in terms of engagements. Officially it will be recorded as William doing 8 engagements in a fortnight and Catherine doing seven, which the pro-Royalists would present as if this was 7 or 8 whole days of work in a fortnight.

peridito · 15/11/2021 10:42

Not worrying ,no . But sobering I suppose .A reminder of mortality .

The Queen seems to have rapidly gone from very old but managing in a fantastic way to very old with frailties that prevent her from managing .And that brings me up short ,makes me reflect on life and death .

julieca · 15/11/2021 10:47

@peridito I think that is common with elderly people. My gran who lived till 97 went from being a bit unsteady on her feet, to having TIAs and not being able to walk within a few weeks. If that is what is happening to the Queen, she may not survive many months.

KeflavikAirport · 15/11/2021 10:51

I've answered fifteen emails this morning. Put that down as fifteen separate engagements, will you?

HarrisonStickle · 15/11/2021 10:55

It would be a massive shock if Camilla was very seriously ill and passed away before the Queen. She's only in her 70s, so I hope this isn't the case.

I know someone like that too. A fall and basically never got out of bed again.

Malibuismysecrethome · 15/11/2021 11:36

I’m really fond of Camilla, I hope this rumour isn’t true
