As she has apparently sprained her back.

I do wish the Palace would be honest about her health (without giving details) rather than setting her up to attend events that they know she won't be at. It can't be good for her, they should just say she's out for a while, which at her age would be completely understandable.

@Rinoachicken

Yes Inknow that, but it’s the ‘you probably understand why’ that I find odd.
It probably means you’ll be aware that HM has sprained her back and will understand why she’s not here today.

It’s a polite way of referring to someone being indisposed and ensuring their dignity.

alborana · 16/11/2021 18:05

Rinoachicken I imagine that it means that you know she is currently unwell as she wasn't able to attend the Remembrance service on Sunday. What else?

SunshineCake1 · 16/11/2021 18:13

@PickupaPenguin8

So climate change isn’t really a top priority for him? What a joke.
And the plane is running in something that offsets the carbon omissions. I can't remember what the newsreader said.
SunshineCake1 · 16/11/2021 18:15

@KeflavikAirport

PC can fuck off. What expertise does he have in diplomacy, or Middle Eastern affairs, or anything, the massive hypocrite? He should stay at home, shut the fuck up, and learn how to squeeze his own toothpaste.
He only had help with the toothpaste when he broke his arm. Stop embarrassing yourself.
KeflavikAirport · 16/11/2021 18:42

Aye right. Sources differ on the crucial toothbrush issue. Which side to believe? Anyway the man has a whole bunch of manservants and no discernible skills. Not really our best and brightest, and with a carbon footprint the size of Wales despite preaching to us plebs at cop26. And off on another pointless jolly within a week.

He’s achieved much in his life which is probably more than can be said of you.
KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 09:59

what has he achieved of note? And I have achieved plenty in my life, thanks, without sponging millions from the taxpayer.

Well the govt don't think it is pointless and they probably know more about it than any of us.
KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 10:17

He is unelected and has no training or expertise in diplomacy or international relations. He has just been wringing his hands over climate change on the international stage and now taking a private jet to an event where his presence is wholly superfluous. Does that not rankle even just a little bit?

ancientgran · 17/11/2021 10:21

No not at all. The govt have decided he should go, he'd be criticised if he didn't do something the govt thought was important.

I think he's had a lifetimes training in diplomacy and international relations.

KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 10:27

He's got a lifetime's experience in being wheeled out to shake hands and smile for photos, I'll grant you that. Let's not pretend he's beavering away behind the scenes with a thorough grasp of the finer details of climate policy, or that it would make the slightest difference to the outcome if he couldn't go for some reason. Andrew stepping back and the pandemic has shown us how very little we miss them when they don't fulfil their usual public-facing role.

SunshineCake1 · 17/11/2021 12:17

Who the fuck has trampled on to to think this is a nice way to feel @KeflavikAirport?

KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 12:20

Not sure I get your meaning sunshine but I'm deeply pissed off that these people hold the future of my kids in their hands and are clearly not willing to change the slightest thing to prevent climate change. PC flying round the world on private jets to show his face as an unelected figurehead is absolutely unnecessary and it's absolutely the first thing we should be cutting down on. Doing it within ten days of COP26 ending is just a massive fuck you to the rest of the planet.

SunshineCake1 · 17/11/2021 12:23

His plane wasn't running on usual jet fuel..

KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 12:24

ffs. talk about clutching at straws. He didn't have to go at all.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/11/2021 12:32

His plane wasn't running on usual jet fuel

Which "plane"? AFAIK he doesn't have his own, but - as with the yachts - latches onto those of others, and I can hardly believe they're all converting them to please him

Charles tries for an awful lot of mileage (excuse the pun) out of this "It runs on biofuel" thing; a case in point was taking yet another private jet to Davos then tootling up in an electric car for the last few miles. He's hardly an expert in anything, even if countless sycophants tell him he is, so unless he's got something new and worthwhile to say, why not just stay home and save us all the bleating?

Roussette · 17/11/2021 12:33

His plane wasn't running on usual jet fuel

Ahhhh, he had enough red wine and cheese left over from his Aston Martin to fuel the plane!

(This is the Aston Martin he takes out probably once every couple of years so he can say he's using biofuels)

SunshineCake1 · 17/11/2021 12:34

@KeflavikAirport

ffs. talk about clutching at straws. He didn't have to go at all.
Ffs to you. He has a job to do. Why are you so stroppy.

I can't remember fully. I just know it wasn't on fuel and has also off setted. He runs his cars on old wine and cooking oil,

Roussette · 17/11/2021 12:36

No he does NOT run his cars on old wine and cooking oil.

He has one Aston Martin that runs on old wine and whey from cheese and he brings it up constantly. Bear in mind the car is ancient, so he won't be travelling in it regularly. As I said... probably every couple of years or something. Just to be able to say that.

KeflavikAirport · 17/11/2021 12:38

His "job" is utterly pointless. We're paying millions to a man with no expertise or specialist knowledge. Yes, it does make me stroppy knowing that if nothing changes my kids are going to have a severely diminished quality of life.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/11/2021 12:42

You just saved me typing it, Roussette Smile

FWIW I believe he's made some noise about the royal train running on biofuel too, but there again why use (or even have) the blasted thing at all when there are perfectly good mainline services?
If they're good enough for the Queen I'd have thought they'd be good enough for her pettish son, but apparently not

I'm also reminded of Edward's wedding where they plonked all the visiting royals onto minibuses - apparently it was the first time the King of Jordan had ever been on one and he was said to be thrilled rotten Grin. If ever there was an opportunity for Charles to parade his green credentials I'd have thought that was it, but no - once again he had to have a limo

Roussette · 17/11/2021 12:59

I think Charles is good at talking the talk, but he needs to walk the walk.

SecretKeeper1 · 17/11/2021 13:49

Well, she’s not dead, so we can cross that particular conspiracy theory off the list Smile

She looked as she always does in today's news so I'm pleased. I did wonder if we would see her in public again tbh.
