As she has apparently sprained her back.

I do wish the Palace would be honest about her health (without giving details) rather than setting her up to attend events that they know she won't be at. It can't be good for her, they should just say she's out for a while, which at her age would be completely understandable.

@HarrisonStickle

It would be a massive shock if Camilla was very seriously ill and passed away before the Queen. She's only in her 70s, so I hope this isn't the case.
What a blow to Charles-finally being King & without a Consort.

I think that Camilla's mum died young didn't she?

Early 70s?

julieca · 15/11/2021 12:54

Early 70s really is not that young to die.

Sparklingbrook · 15/11/2021 12:56

I think early 70s is young to die these days.

JudgeRindersMinder · 15/11/2021 12:58

I think I the average age for death is now up around 80. They don’t have their troubles to seek do they? It’s not a life I’d choose

julieca · 15/11/2021 13:06

Yes average age of death is 80, 82 for a woman, But that means some naturally will die before this and some after this.
It is statistically impossible to have an average age of death for women of 82, and have everyone live till 82 or older.

Obviously. But early 70s is young to die these days.

I wouldn't wish anyone to be ill, never mind dead, but can't deny it occurred to me it would save the carry-on over what to call her as consort

Laiste · 15/11/2021 13:18

Re: the 70s young/not young thing, my DM is now early 80s and is basically crippled. She's never had any specific health issues however she's been 'old' in mind and very sedentary since her late 50s. Scoffing at exercise and healthy eating.

PIL are ten years younger than her (early 70s) and enjoy a really full life with lots of walking and healthy eating. MIL is not a medially healthy person per se, with heart problems and all sorts, but keeps slim and active and is more active outgoing and mobile in her 70s than my mother was in her 50s!

I guess it depends on luck but also outlook and choices when younger.

I thought this but wasn't brave enough to post it Grin
Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/11/2021 13:29

I confess to having thought twice myself, Laiste Wink

Of course I'd respect HQ's wish if they want to delete it, but it seemed to me a straightforward fact

Laiste · 15/11/2021 13:43

Maybe no one else'll see it.
I won't tell Grin

julieca · 15/11/2021 13:59

Okay if you say so. I know plenty of people who have died in their sixties and seventies, as well as people who died in their eighties and nineties.

Camilla’s mum died at 72 in 1994. I’m not sure how young or old 72 was considered then.
Camilla has said she died from osteoporosis, same as camilla’s maternal grandmother.

julieca · 15/11/2021 14:13

In 1994 life expectancy for women was 79.5 years. So she died 7.5 years earlier than life expectancy. Early, but not ridiculously so.
Camilla will have access to modern treatments for osteoporosis.

thereisonlyoneofme · 15/11/2021 14:14

I did think Camilla looked very thin in the face and drawn at the Albert Hall

Me too.

Unless they had cancer or some other obvious illness, it's something of a surprise when a person in their early 70s dies. It's the younger end of being old. The people I know in their early 70s are all in pretty good nick and it'd be a massive shock to hear any of them had gone.

ancientgran · 15/11/2021 14:39

@the80sweregreat

Maybe Charles hasn't been invited to see Harry and the family ? Or they just don't want to go ? It would be a logistical nightmare I would imagine as well. He saw Harry back in the summer too. Many families don't see each other for years when they choose to emigrate, it's how it is!
Particularly hard to visit when there is a pandemic on. At his age he is vulnerable and the US had their borders closed for ages.
ancientgran · 15/11/2021 14:43

@LakieLady

Not sure about Prince Philips father but I do remember his mother at some events and she seemed very old but back then anyone over 30 looked old to me

His parents were separated and his father died in exile towards the end of WW2. His sisters were married to Germans, and at least one of the brothers-in-law had close connections to the Nazis.

My late father used to rant on about his family connections to the Nazis whenever the DoE was in the news.

Did he mention Prince Philip serving in the Royal Navy through the war? His bravery was mentioned in dispatches and fought in many battles.

My father was in the RN during the war, he thought very highly of Prince Philip and his war service.

Well I have googled and it seems some trashy tabloid in america started the story in 2019, Camilla having 7 month to live (obviously not true) Charles wouldnt let her have transplant because she wanted a divorce and he didnt want to pay. Various other loads of old codswallop.

Poetrypatty · 15/11/2021 15:14

I agree it sounds like nonsense because a quick google says rumours like this have been around about Camilla since 2004

HarrisonStickle · 15/11/2021 16:15

Good!

peridito · 15/11/2021 16:55

Can people die of osteoporosis ? I can imagine that the broken bones that it can lead to might be difficult to recover from if you're 85+++ ,but dying of osteoporosis at 72 sounds unlikely to me .
