What normal household task do you irrationally hate?

Our dishwasher has broken so we're having to wash up. I've remembered that I completely HATE washing up - no idea why. It feels ridiculously primitive to me, like taking clothes down to the stream with stones! We never had a dishwasher growing up so it's not even like something I've always been used to. I'm perfectly happy doing other cleaning up jobs in the kitchen, listening to music and pottering about. Don't even mind doing the bathroom and toilet!

Unblocking the bath and shower drain. The rest of the household would flood it rather than sort it out, so it's "my" job.

Done every time with much muttering and cursing about dirty bastards Grin

TurnUpTurnip · 11/11/2021 18:51

Washing up, I don’t mind anything else but washing up makes me feel sick I hate it, can’t get a dishwasher as kitchen too small but it’s definitely the worst

speakout · 11/11/2021 18:52

Many- but nothing irrational about it.

Who can get excited at cleaning toilets or washing floors?

SarahAndQuack · 11/11/2021 18:52

I actually don't mind washing up. I hate washing windows.

GrealishHairband · 11/11/2021 18:52

Putting the big shop away. Can not be arsed with it.

Fallagain · 11/11/2021 18:52

Putting the wheelie bin in from of the house for bin day.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/11/2021 18:54

Taking the bins out, I just.. resent it. Often there is a big full black bin bag in the kitchen, looking at me forebodingly..

It used to be washing up though. My table top dishwasher has given me such happiness.. it’s like having a maid.

Wotsitsits · 11/11/2021 19:02

Tidying up. I can barely be arsed to put my own stuff away, I can only do it if I follow the "don't put it down, put it away" rule.

The kids stuff.. is everywhere.. the number of random bits of toys that end up in the kitchen.. picking up and matching back to the set is Envy I have at least 3 big boxes shoved in a cupboard of just random bits where I've swept off the worktop in desperation Blush

DHs stuff.. honestly I see red every time now. He moans that it's passive agreessive to dump crisp packets and dirty pants on his work chair but I don't care!!! Tidy your own crap ffs!!

I think it's the mental effort and the constant bending down that makes me hate tidying!!!

Knobblebobble · 11/11/2021 19:04

Changing the beds. Particularly putting the clean sheets etc back on. Gives me the rage... well... more a small annoyance but....

Grrrrrrr

Wotsitsits · 11/11/2021 19:04

@TurnUpTurnip no kitchen is too small for a dishwasher.. spent £115 on an unbranded Currys slimline dishwasher, cut out the drawer unit and shoved a brass y piece on the washing machine feed. Job done and the utensils live happily in pots on the windowsill. LIFECHANGING!! I run it 3x a day if needs be Grin

MegaClutterSlut · 11/11/2021 19:05

Changing the beds

SickAndTiredAgain · 11/11/2021 19:06

Drying up. It’s a job that will literally do itself

DeathMetalMum · 11/11/2021 19:06

Putting the shopping away. I've almost trained the kids to do it now they can reach Grin

ragdollmum · 11/11/2021 19:06

Hanging up socks to dry. Having to match them up. Hate it.

Muddybanks · 11/11/2021 19:06

Cleaning the bathroom.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/11/2021 19:08

Going to the laundrette.
The other one is probably not a 'normal' household task, but cleaning the blinds. It's just impossible with mine and I can't take them down either. They're disgusting and even the string is dirty.

Yika · 11/11/2021 19:08

Putting the bins out. Dirty (the bins) and cold (going outside).

mrselizabethdarcy · 11/11/2021 19:08

Putting the bins out. Think it's the only thing I miss about exh.

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/11/2021 19:09

I hate ironing, but that's not irrational.

SpangoDweller · 11/11/2021 19:10

Bins. I would also say dusting but I’ve mostly stopped doing it (because I hate it)

VanillaIce1 · 11/11/2021 19:11

Mopping. Can't stand it! Give me hoovering or washing up but don't ask me to do the floors. I don't know why but it makes me so angry. Blush

FlickerBeat · 11/11/2021 19:11

Putting the laundry away. Don't know why, I just can't stand it!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 11/11/2021 19:12

Putting the washing away. HATE IT. Also changing the bed.

RobertsRadio · 11/11/2021 19:13

Hoovering, I bloody hate it, although I'm not keen on any housework really.

The only chores I don't mind are mopping the floor, ironing and washing up although I am considering getting a dishwasher when I get the kitchen done or move.

MagicalFish · 11/11/2021 19:14

Ironing. I do the bare minimum - probably half an hour once a month - but it puts me in a foul mood.

Also changing bedding. I'm not sure what's worse, a king size or a mid sleeper.
