DH has such form for sending several messages in quick succession, instead of just one.
I hate the constant pinging, especially when I'm doing something else and a string of messages every 2 secs keep interrupting me.

He's just taken DS3 for an ear check up, then sent 5 messages within 1 min:
"just been seen"
"ear's fine"
"drum healed"
"all good"
"coming shortly"

🙄 is it hard to combine those words in one message?
I guess action speaks louder than asking again to stop so I sent this back.
🤣

tell me, who else does this?

Mine doesn’t do that but does answer to tell me he’ll call me back as he’s busy, then calls back in 5 mins.. just don’t answer if you can’t talk?! You get family do the many messages thing - it is annoying!

SummerHouse · 01/11/2021 18:49

So annoying. I am so tempted to do lots of separate posts but sitting on my hands. Could you respond to each one individually just to make a point?

Queenoftheflumps02 · 01/11/2021 18:49

My DD (19) has a habit of doing this. I think it is to make sure she gets my attention!Smile Thinking about it, she doesn't do it to her DF!

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 01/11/2021 18:50

Turn your ringer off
It's madness to have message sounds switched on in 2021

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 01/11/2021 18:52

I realised that I do this - I think I’ve turned text messaging into instant messaging. So I just post conversational bits back and forth like I would with whatsapp or Slack.

Bloatstoat · 01/11/2021 18:52

My sister does this! I don't know if it's her kids interrupting or what but a simple message ends up as about 10 and I've often started to reply without getting the whole thing. If they're going to do this I think the last message should at least say 'message ends' or something so you know where you are!

TwinklyBranch · 01/11/2021 18:52

One of my work mates does this. I thought my irritation was just me being an old fart (she's about 20 years younger than me)!

Pumpkinsonparade · 01/11/2021 18:53

Law.

ParkheadParadise · 01/11/2021 18:53

I don't know anyone who does that.

When DH is at work he will send an emoji reply when I've sent a paragraph asking a question 😂

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/11/2021 18:53

@Careus

oh that's so annoying too.

If you're in a conversation with someone it's quite annoying to ask a straightforward question and watch for ages 'Bobby is typing...'

Def switch off the buzzer

So true! Grin

emmetgirl · 01/11/2021 18:56

My DD (26) lives a few hundred miles away. We're very close and speak
every day. But does she reply to text messages? Does she f*#k. Drives me mad 😂

Batshittery · 01/11/2021 18:56

Yes, I know someone who does this. She does put more than one word on each line but it's like a few words followed by more messages containing a few words. I don't understand it Confused

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/11/2021 18:56

@Pumpkinsonparade

🤣🤣
he'd told me before that it's because he wants to get the information out quickly, then he realises there's more...
it's like Columbo with his cliché doorknob questions "just one more thing.."

I know it's innocently done. but still urgh!

Voice clips on WhatsApp do my head in. Just fucking text! I'm not always somewhere I can play a voice clip.

SpookyPumpkinPants · 01/11/2021 18:58

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

Yeah, but he's a keeper so forgive him this --fucking annoying habit!

TheChip · 01/11/2021 18:59

I do this. But only to the kids when I'm sick of running up and down the stairs trying to wake them, or to get their attention to their phones to see my message faster.
It doesn't work on me as I keep mine on silent so they don't even try Grin

I know.
He's forgiven.

I just had to vent

NarcissistsEyebrows · 01/11/2021 19:01

I'm guilty of this sometimes

TBH it's laziness, or rather it's much easier to send many messages (same thing, different way of labelling it)

If l want to write a long answer in sentences and paragraphs then it is more hassle to locate the full stop, space, carriage return etc

If I just quick fire each sentence individually then it takes longer. This is especially true if I'm typing one handed

junebirthdaygirl · 01/11/2021 19:02

Oh l have a friend who does this
Her kids are sick so l get
Tommy sick
Saw doctor
Worried about appendix
Will keep you posted
And on it goes. I have started to reply to first message when next comes in so l don't know what l am replying to. Can be up to 20 different messages
Aaaaaaah..drives me crazy!!!!

CatherineCawood · 01/11/2021 19:02

My daughter and it drives me up the wall. I'm in a meeting and its ping ping ping.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/11/2021 19:03

🤣
that's as useful as a chocolate teapot.
maybe I should start doing that in mock retaliation

MissyB1 · 01/11/2021 19:06

Yes my friend does it!!! Sends about 6 or 7 messages literally one after the other - all about the same thing!! Often containing several photos as well relating to whatever she’s talking about. If I don’t answer she just carries on!

LadyJaye · 01/11/2021 19:08

I spent several months gently educating my colleagues about the gift that is 'soft return' on Teams / Slack.

I absolutely LOATHE being pinged multiple times. Not good for the blood pressure.
