DH has such form for sending several messages in quick succession, instead of just one.
I hate the constant pinging, especially when I'm doing something else and a string of messages every 2 secs keep interrupting me.

He's just taken DS3 for an ear check up, then sent 5 messages within 1 min:
"just been seen"
"ear's fine"
"drum healed"
"all good"
"coming shortly"

🙄 is it hard to combine those words in one message?
I guess action speaks louder than asking again to stop so I sent this back.
🤣

tell me, who else does this?

It's easier than using punctuation

No need to change the keyboard to find a full stop

Just hit the send button

That's my theory anyway

Thatsplentyjack · 01/11/2021 20:37

When my ds sends me a text, everytime without fail he sends "mum" and then just waits for me to answer with "what?", before he actually says what he needs to say.

Again, this isn't the same bit similar to a pp. My dp will phone me sometimes when he's got a spare 5 mins (usually at a really bad time for me) and will yammer on about nothing and then all of a sudden he will say "right ill let you go, I'm really busy" eh, why did you phone me then! He does this to everyone though, not just me.

Newbabynewhouse · 01/11/2021 20:39

I do this Grin oops sorry

FreshFancyFrogglette · 01/11/2021 20:41

Yep, I have a friend like this too. Argh. Also likes to send video messages of them talking, instead of typing out the message.

RAFHercules · 01/11/2021 20:42

My DD does this....
Mum
Mum
Mum
Mum
Mum
Are you there Mum?
Muuuum

Have you fallen out with me?? Sad

LittleDandelionClock · 01/11/2021 20:44

I hate it when someone messages

'Are you busy Saturday?'

Why just ask that FFS?! Tell me why you want to know, because if it's something I can't be arsed to do, I need to think of an excuse!

So I have just started to message back...

'Why do you ask?'

I also hate when companies, or a professional, like the GP practice or dentist or bank etc, ring me, and leave a voicemail, saying 'can you ring back when you get this message please?' No clue as to what they want, and it's almost always on a Friday after 4.00 p.m. and I don't notice the message til 6pm, so I can't get back in touch til Monday. Angry

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 01/11/2021 20:45

Oh God yes yes to this. My DD does it. All. The. Time. Drives me absolutely mental

Itsnotdeep · 01/11/2021 20:47

I do it too! I didn't realise it was annoying.

needtogetfit21 · 01/11/2021 20:48

I do this BlushBlushBlush

lottiegarbanzo · 01/11/2021 20:49

God how arrogant. As if you're standing there waiting, hanging upon their every word.

Like teenagers who can't get off the (old style) phone, because they're just desperate to maintain human connection and an audience for their every thought. Or toddlers, who really do think your word revolves around them and you probably lapse out of consciousness when they're not present.

This would cause me to ignore them until five mins after I was fairly sure they'd finished (so possibly forget). The opposite of the intended attention-grabbing effect.

CokeZeroAddiction · 01/11/2021 20:51

My DH always calls me when he’s 5 minutes from home to talk crap. Even he laughs now. Why he can’t wait I don’t know.

LittleDandelionClock · 01/11/2021 20:52

@RAFHercules

My DD does this.... Mum Mum Mum Mum Mum Are you there Mum? Muuuum Mum Mum Have you fallen out with me?? Sad
My DD sends mini rants like that on whatsapp, 'mum where are you,' and 'mum why aren't you answering the phone?' 'mum why aren't you messaging me back? I have messaged you 3 times in the past hour argh!!!' Angry (sorta half jokey like!)

But when I ring her, she NEVER answers and she only calls me back, maybe a third of the time. And she has also got into the habit this past few months of not responding to my texts and whatsapp messages, until I send another message 2 days later, asking if she got the message. 'Oooh, sorry mum, I saw it and forgot to message back.' Never forgets to message her mates back though. Grrrrr Hmm

And as I say, God FORBID that I don't answer her call when she rings, and respond to her whatsapp message within half an hour!Wink

lnsufficientFuns · 01/11/2021 20:53

I do it quite a lot

lnsufficientFuns · 01/11/2021 20:54

Sometimes to correct ytpos

Sometimes because I write too fast ....

lnsufficientFuns · 01/11/2021 20:54

Mainly because I’m always in a rush

thepeopleversuswork · 01/11/2021 20:54

I can't get upset about this tbh. I'd generally rather read a handful of brief messages than a huge long text.

Also agree that anyone who has the volume on their messaging on in this day and age is asking for trouble. I literally wouldn't be able to get anything done if I did this.

SparklyDino · 01/11/2021 20:55

Omg I do this!

It's the way I think.

Fast burst of thought.

Didn't realise it annoyed people :(

SparklyDino · 01/11/2021 20:56

But then ... this is mumsnet.

Everything annoys us!!

SparklyDino · 01/11/2021 20:57

Omg I've just done it here! Hahaha

lnsufficientFuns · 01/11/2021 20:57

Staccato sentences @SparklyDino
Like your style

👌

Porfre · 01/11/2021 21:00

I do this.
But not as bad. Not all the time though.

I type up my message intending it to only be one message. But then remember something else that I've forgotten to add.
So I might add another message. Then remember something else. So I send another. So the person may get 2 or 3 messages in quick succession.

Bringonthepjs · 01/11/2021 21:00

I do it
Quicker
No great wall of text

AssetRichIncomePoor · 01/11/2021 21:02

OP:

My

17 yo

does

this

and

it

gets

on

my

tits

It is yet another thing that irritates me about smartphones. I have an old phone, so write proper messages. It takes about ten minutes to write each one!

almaonao · 01/11/2021 21:03

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

Turn your ringer off It's madness to have message sounds switched on in 2021
Lol this
LittleDandelionClock · 01/11/2021 21:04
