DH has such form for sending several messages in quick succession, instead of just one.
I hate the constant pinging, especially when I'm doing something else and a string of messages every 2 secs keep interrupting me.

He's just taken DS3 for an ear check up, then sent 5 messages within 1 min:
"just been seen"
"ear's fine"
"drum healed"
"all good"
"coming shortly"

🙄 is it hard to combine those words in one message?
I guess action speaks louder than asking again to stop so I sent this back.
🤣

tell me, who else does this?

oh god, that’s me.

I only ever text dh though as i’m billy no mates, he’s not complained, yet.

There are often threads on here full of people complaining about their phone notifications when they're so customisable these days that it really shouldn't be a problem. I don't get a sound or vibrate every single time someone sends me a whatsapp message. Of course that would be annoying, that's why I turned it off!

mogtheexcellent · 03/11/2021 17:41

DH kind of does this. He sends a message quickly followed by an X.

This means i have to open my phone to see first message rather than see it on the notification Angry

He also records lengthy voice messages in whatsapp when a simple three word text will doe so think 2 mins 49 secs of waffle which basically was 'takeaway tonight?' HmmI refuse to listen to them now.

KathyWilliams · 03/11/2021 17:44

@Blueink

Turn Your Alerts Off! His breaking down of the message is excessive and annoying but your (lack of) management of alerts it’s what’s actually disturbing you
All very well - but my phone is a 10 yr old Nokia non-smartphone. You may be too young to remember these, but you don't get 'alerts' on them. You just get message after message, and the only way to get rid of them is to read them, not least as the phone only stores about 50 messages in total.

My messages from DD are all a variant on the
Mummy
Mummy?
MUMMY???!
MUMMY ANSWER ME
??
Where r u?

I then ring her and she doesn't answer because her sound is switched off/she ran out of battery because iphones are crap /she was too busy.

FFS.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 03/11/2021 17:49

Oh god mine does this thing that drives me insane!!!

Me: while you are out please could you pick up milk, bread, juice and mushrooms

DH: ok send me a list

Erm what the actual fuck did you think the previous message was???

He does this without fail. Every. Single. Time.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 03/11/2021 17:52

I do this😆

Yes! You aren't ruled by noises your phone came with, you're allowed to make it fit into your life rather than the other way around...

DDMAC · 03/11/2021 22:23

If I don’t put an X at the end of every text dh wants to know what’s wrong 🙄 son replied the other day as I was driving and purposely left the X off to wind him up

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 03/11/2021 22:42

🤣

MIL often signs of with "lots of love, mum" (I call her mum) until I remind her she doesn't have to do it, I know it's her!

She's almost as bad as Captain Holt when he & Jake are in a sticky situation on a bus and need to swap info quickly and he signs off with "Kind Regards, Cpt Raymond Holt" on each text despite the overwhelming time pressure
🤣🤣🤣

Parkhead Paradise same here...I will send a very detailed message and get one word back or one emoji ....Angry

MrsPetty · 06/11/2021 01:15

I’m guilty of it. I drives my sister bonkers! DH is so used to it he doesn’t bother to read them until the pinging ceases. I try to combine them all into one and it’s just too weird!
