I hope they aren't down playing anything.

I know she is 95 but I hope she really is as ok as they are saying she is.

A news journo taking an obviously personal affront isn't professional though. You don't see political reporters getting all huffy everytime Boris tells and untruth!

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 13:39

The Queen is back working today.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/10/2021 13:54

I think losing a life long spouse can really hit older people hard. I thought she looked far more frail than I've even seen her in recent photos.

lollipoprainbow · 26/10/2021 14:16

It didn't look like her in the pics today she looked like she was wearing a mask of the queen ! Very odd she doesn't look right.

julieca · 26/10/2021 14:18

@SunshineCake1 referring to his station is snobbery i.e. he is a pleb and should behave a certain way.

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 14:19

I never said he was a pleb. Do not put words in my mouth.

His job is to report the news. Not to act like he's personally affronted that the Queen didn't tell him personally and act like she should have done.

Andante57 · 26/10/2021 14:22

Ideas above his station!!
What unabashed snobbery.

Julieca surely it was quite clear that SunshineCake wasn’t referring to his class. More he thinks he is so important that the Royal Family can’t blink without him having prior knowledge.

Roussette · 26/10/2021 14:22

Nicholas Witchell is a puffed up windbag. Even the rf can't stand him.

Tyredofallthis1 · 26/10/2021 14:28

She looked like she had lost some weight on the pics on the BBC, but it could be just the effects of recovering from a tummy bug or similar.

Respect to her - she's still doing her duty and I think it would be hard to find anyone who would blame a 95 year old recent widow for taking things a little easier.

julieca · 26/10/2021 14:28

No it was quite clear this is about class and not professional role.
And he was annoyed that he had been lied to by the palace and had repeated that lie.
I guess its not surprising that people who wholeheartedly support the RF would also embrace snobbery.

Roussette · 26/10/2021 14:34

She can't be that sick as K&W and kids jet off from Heathrow somewhere, last Thursday and are still away. I'm sure he wouldn't go if she was really poorly

3luckystars · 26/10/2021 14:36

They would though. The show must go on. I really like the Queen and hope she does the 100.

I think you should give the class/snob thing a rest. The poster concerned has said clearly how it was meant.
Peregrina · 26/10/2021 16:17

Why does it matter if Kate and William are on holiday? Charles is the one who would have to step up, and that will be the time for him to lick them into shape.

Well you are wrong.

I am not a snob.

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 17:21

Thanks @IntermittentParps.

Roussette · 26/10/2021 18:02

Well.... the Queen isn't going to COP26, so I presume it's all too much for her at her age.

I have to say, it was a bit over saturation with five members of the RF going to it.

SunshineCake1 · 26/10/2021 18:03

I do hope she is okay but no doubt plenty will now go even more down the speculation route.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/10/2021 18:07

She's 95. It was always a big ask for her to go, even without the global pandemic.

Tuliptulip · 26/10/2021 18:32

I think it was a terrible idea to have a 95 year old attending a reception at COP26 with presumably hundreds of people when Covid is basically running wild through the population at the moment. Fingers crossed this is just a way of protecting her from infection.

campion · 26/10/2021 20:04

I was pleased to hear she has a 'late night TV habit'. At last, I've got something in common with HM!

Toddlerteaplease · 26/10/2021 20:54

She won't have missed church. She has a private chapel so would have gone there. Instead of a public service.

julieca · 26/10/2021 21:52

@Toddlerteaplease it was the chapel at Windsor she did not go to. A vicar attended her at home for prayers instead.

HarrisonStickle · 27/10/2021 08:15

She seems to be learning the hard way, just like my dad had to, that by the time you reach your mid nineties you need to slow down a bit. 😆
