I hope they aren't down playing anything.

I know she is 95 but I hope she really is as ok as they are saying she is.

What on earth do people expect the Palace to say? If you've lost elderly relatives or parents, you know full well that you just are clueless as to what the future holds sometimes.

Yes, if there is something drastic that has happened, like a stroke or a heart attack, of course.
But most of the time, you just do not know. The body slowly degenerates the older you get, organs function less well, muscles the same... it's a long slowing down.

I imagine there's nothing concrete to say and she's storing up energy for COP26.

Malibuismysecrethome · 25/10/2021 16:27

Her bereavement is very recent. HM is probably finding sleep difficult hence the watching TV late into the night. I imagine some nights she’s not sleeping at all.

julieca · 25/10/2021 16:36

She may have had a stroke or a heart attack. If she cant walk any more, they would avoid showing that to see if she recovers.

HarrisonStickle · 25/10/2021 16:40

Surely they wouldn't be talking about her attending COP26 if that was the case.

I just read somewhere that she's "knackered" because she's been having loads of family to dinner as she doesn't want to eat on her own, and has been staying up late watching Line of Duty and tennis. Grin

julieca · 25/10/2021 16:44

Why wouldnt they? They know she either has to attend Cop26 or they have to be honest and say she is really ill.

HarrisonStickle · 25/10/2021 16:54

She's not going to COP26 if she's had a stroke or heart attack in the last week or two. And it would be ridiculous of them to say she hopes to be well enough. Although, since they lied about her being in hospital, anything's possible I suppose.

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/10/2021 16:56

I though she looked tired and as if she'd lost weight before she was in hospital. He's had an incredibly difficult year loosing Philip.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/10/2021 16:57

I just hope she’s ok. She’s had a horrible year.

Cactus1982 · 25/10/2021 17:04

Wouldn’t they tell us if she had a stroke or heart attack though? How could they keep that a secret?

SpiderinaWingMirror · 25/10/2021 17:10

Let's face it, now prince Phillips gone, she is prime" how long is she going to live?" Territory.
I reckon she will go on longer that than the Queen Mum so we've got another 6/7 years of this.

Malibuismysecrethome · 25/10/2021 17:15

Poor soul, all this speculation isn’t very nice. Let her rest for a while.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/10/2021 19:47

Goodness I doubt it’s anything as dramatic as that.

Viviennemary · 25/10/2021 20:30

I doubt it's serious. I just read it was a stomach bug. Gastroenteritis if that's the right spelling.

littlestmunchkin · 25/10/2021 20:33

@HarrisonStickle I saw an interview with Nicholas witchell where he seemed personally angry that the palace had lied about the Queen being in hospital.

I'm a complete republican, but even I found his attitude hugely distasteful. You're right, he is taking it badly!!

I hardly think she is reading mumsnet!
Malibuismysecrethome · 25/10/2021 22:11

Julieca lol, no I don’t suppose she is

KrispyKale · 25/10/2021 22:15

Nicholas Witchell has imo been huffy about the royals since he took up the job. I wish he'd move on.

SunshineCake1 · 25/10/2021 22:27

He definitely has ideas above his station and thinks he has a right to know everything. He's probably annoyed he couldn't break the story. At least if he had we wouldn't have had it listen to him self importantly announce we are lead to believe, it is thought..

julieca · 25/10/2021 22:36

Ideas above his station!!
What unabashed snobbery.

True, much more likely to be on Gransnet.
Viviennemary · 25/10/2021 22:50

I can kind of see where he is coming from as I read that as a news presenter for the BBC if he is given wrong information by the palace and he presents it as news on the BBC then that isnt a good reflection on him or the news channel. Like the Queen is at Windsor but she isn't. She is in hospital. Which I think is what happened.

julieca · 25/10/2021 23:20

Yes I can see he would be annoyed at that. He was basically repeating as news the lie the Palace had told him. It makes him look stupid when it was their lie.

23minutesfromTulseHill · 26/10/2021 01:20

Can you imagine the hysteria if the nation was told that the Queen is quite ill
No.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/10/2021 02:33

hysteria???

not at all. people might be worried, upset and up their prayer quota.
memes will fly.
tea & biscuit consumption will rise ever so slightly
that's about it.

I'm not the snob.

He definitely has sulked that he didn't get to break it and said things that made him sound like he felt personally affronted and as it the Queen owes him anything.
