Frozen pizza £1.50
Breaded chicken things £2.50

cheese and beans on toast and a cup of tea. Approx 50p. Might have a fried egg on top, which would double to price

CareerConcerns1999 · 13/10/2021 17:39

Lasagne - I had no time due to working to prep a homemade one, so grabbed an Aldi fresh one £2.69 (easily cheaper than homemade but I suspect will be distinctly meadiocre)
Garlic bread - £1.50
Mixed salad - £1.50
Parmesan - 50p worth

Total £6.19, or £1.52pp

DinosApple · 13/10/2021 17:39

Jacket spuds so quite cheap. The combination of extras pushes it up though.
Me, left over chickpea curry.
DH - ham, tomatoes, cheese, cucumber and gherkins.
DD1 - baked beans and cheese
DD2 - cheese, ham, sweetcorn and beetroot... Fussy buggers my lot. No one eats the same thing.
Averaged out it's probably £1.50 per person.

2x meat pies... £5
Cabbage... 50p
Carrots... 25p
Broccoli... 50p
Gravy... 10p

£6.35/5 people... £1.27
I'm expecting left over pie.

OldTinHat · 13/10/2021 17:43

50p. A pot noodle.

Pyewackect · 13/10/2021 17:44

No idea. I'm not cooking it.

LoveFall · 13/10/2021 17:46

I'm making a winter stew with lots of root veggies and about 1/3 pound of stewing beef but it will do us several meals, so I estimate about 2 Canadian dollars each for the two of us.

Sometimes I regret having leftovers but mostly it works well.

FrazzledY9Parent · 13/10/2021 17:49

Homemade fishcake (from freezer) with oven chips and frozen peas. Guesstimate £1.50 per person?

TheUnbearable · 13/10/2021 17:50

Pasta £1
Meatballs £3.50
Passata 75p
Tomatoes from garden
Salad leaves £1
Cheese 50p
Spices 10p

For 4 people, should be enough left overs for one lunch

grapewine · 13/10/2021 17:50

A couple of apples and some boil in bag rice with curry powder mixed in. Hot tea.

At least I only have myself to feed.

3teens2cats · 13/10/2021 17:51

Cheesy bacon pasta

Value penne 30p
Smoked bacon £1.50
White lasagne sauce 59p
Grated cheese max 50p worth.

Total £2.89
Just 3 of us so 96p per person. Probably should do some greens but just don't fancy any today

Peggytheredhen · 13/10/2021 17:52

I have no idea. We are having pasta bake and salad so I am guessing not a lot.

TheUnbearable · 13/10/2021 17:52

I forgot to add
Broccoli £1
Carrots 30p

maras2 · 13/10/2021 17:52

menu for 2 pensioners
4 quality sausages (2 each) = £2.50.
2 Maris Piper spuds, mashed = 68p
Handful of mushrooms and same with onions = 20p (aprox).
Mushroom stock pot = 25p
Handful of frozen peas / carrots / sweetcorn. = 20p.
So posh sausage, mash, onion/ mushroom gravy and veg for 2 = less than a fiver or £2.50 each.
Nearly forgot the yorkshire pudding. Possibly 2 pence.

Biscoffee · 13/10/2021 17:52

Biryani.

The equivalent of

25 pounds for fresh tuna. About 3kgs.
About 15 pounds for the sauce all made from the fridge and store cupboard ingredients.
10 pounds for the basmati rice. About 10 cups
Saffron about 4 pounds
Chopped salad about 10 pounds

Total 64 pounds for approx 12 servings for today including one child and one not very big eater. There’s also some left that will be eaten tomorrow by my son when he comes off night shift.

HalfBrick · 13/10/2021 17:52

Sausages X10 (chicken but flavoured) £1.99
Potatoes 1/5 of a 99p bag
Savoy cabbage 1/3 of 60p

About 60p per person x4? Won't be any leftovers though and I'm using the oven so ££.

Doesn't include the oil, butter and pepper I'll use.

takingmytimeonmyride · 13/10/2021 17:53

We are having sausages, mash and beans. Works out at £1.12 each.

miltonj · 13/10/2021 17:54

Hmm the spaghetti was already in the cupboard so not sure.

Pesto... couple of euros, multipack of sweetcorn same and Parmesan, same. So probs around 6 euros for me and my husband. Daughter ate earlier, tinned beans and jacket potato, which will have been pennies. Although she had about two spoonfuls so quite steep really Hmm

LizzieMacQueen · 13/10/2021 17:56

Tonight 2 of us are having quiche, sweet potato fries & coleslaw. All bought at Tesco, clubcard offer where available.

Cost £4.70 so £2.35 each. No chance of left overs.

DataColour · 13/10/2021 17:58

Tofu red Thai curry

Tofu - £3
Green beans £1
Carrots 50p
A potato 20p
Curry paste approx 20p
Coconut milk £1.50
Pepper 50p
Noodles 50p

About £7.50 for 4 people

Westfacing · 13/10/2021 17:59

Great question!

M&S Best Ever Burger £2.25
Leftover roasted celeriac & few tomatoes, say 50p

So £2.75

Plus 2 can of ready-mix G&T, £2 (on offer)

Queenfreak · 13/10/2021 18:02

Paella rice ~1/2 packet .70p
Mushrooms 60p
Chorizo £2.50
Stock cubes 28p
Asparagus £1
Peas 15p
Onions 25p
Spices ~ 5p
= £5.53

So £1.38 per portion
