Sweet potatoes £1.12
Corn on the cob 95p
Something else - bit of salad or a sauce, and spices, oil for roasting the sweet potatoes- allow an extra £1
£6.07 between 3, so about £2 each.

00100001 · 13/10/2021 18:26

Beans on toast, with an egg on top.

Loaf of bread is 79p, we used 5 slices, so call it 25p.
A tin of beans 32p
6 eggs, £1.80

So let's say £2.37 or 79p pp.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 13/10/2021 18:27

What was the relevance of going to the Ivy last night? I’m sure the question is what are you having for dinner tonight?
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 13/10/2021 18:29

Not much!

Bag of pasta £1
Passata 60p
Mushrooms 60p
Frozen peppers £1
Chorizo £2.50

katseyes7 · 13/10/2021 18:30

About 40p. One slice of toast and tinned spaghetti hoops.
Trying to eat things that don't involve using the oven.

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 13/10/2021 18:31

Hmmmm have had to get my calculator out.

1 bottle of red wine from Sainsbury’s for £5. It was on offer but is actually ok. I quite like a merlot.

Divided by 1 so £5. May or may not be left overs.

butterflyze · 13/10/2021 18:31

@Pyewackect

No idea. I'm not cooking it.
Same Grin but I suspect not a huge sum, as it is chilli with rice.
gettingolderbutcooler · 13/10/2021 18:32

Fish pie;
Salmon 2.50
Pots about 1.00
Smoked haddock about 1.50
Prawns about 3.50
Crème fraiche and chives- about 1.50

To feed 4.
Yum!

AnImposter · 13/10/2021 18:32

@Orangejuicemarathoner

cheese and beans on toast and a cup of tea. Approx 50p. Might have a fried egg on top, which would double to price
Same Grin
gettingolderbutcooler · 13/10/2021 18:32

And it's all gone in our greedy tummies already

gogohm · 13/10/2021 18:33

£1.75 each because on introductory offer from gusto

purplesequins · 13/10/2021 18:34

pasta 2.50
tin of toms .80
onion, courgette, carrots, herbs/spices 1.50
grana cheese 5.00
custard for pudding 2.50

= 12.3/5 = 2.46 pp
I'm sure the teens will have some toasties later

Thatsplentyjack · 13/10/2021 18:34

Your filled pasta is only costing 2.50 for a family of 4 with possibly a portion left over? 🤣 my ds 13 eats a whole pack to himself!

Biscoffee · 13/10/2021 18:34

You need to try and keep up.

It’s obvious the poster was showing how meals can go from one extreme to the other price wise.

TyrannosaurusRights · 13/10/2021 18:34

Midweek roast here with leftovers from Sunday. Probably about £3.50 ish Per portion - quite expensive as we had locally reared lamb.

It balances out - yesterday we had vegetable and pearl barley casserole. That works out around 60p per portion.

whatwasIgoingtosay · 13/10/2021 18:34

We are having a hot ready roasted chicken from Tesco which cost £5.10 for two of us. HOWEVER .... in best MN fashion, tomorrow we will have chicken salad and chicken sandwiches for lunch, then I will make a big pot of chicken broth for the freezer!

Chickydoo · 13/10/2021 18:35

Just me tonight
French onion soup (tin) £1.00
Bread (homemade) pence
Gruyere cheese chunk £75p (Ish)
Large glass wine £1.50

Maybe a fruit desert later £1.50

£3.25-£4.75 (approx)

TabithaTiger · 13/10/2021 18:35

We're having vegetarian cottage pie, made with lentils, mushrooms, carrot and frozen peas. At a guess, about 50p a portion, maybe even less.

Cruiser11 · 13/10/2021 18:35

I made a roast
Turkey joint £5
Pigs in bankers £3
Carrots and parsnips £1
Massive bag of frozen roast potatoes £3
Gravy 5p ?
So £12.05
£3.01 per head for a family of 4 adults.
It was yummy!

MouseholeCat · 13/10/2021 18:35

It's DH's request tonight and it's a rainy day so we're having Tater Tot casserole, which is not a usual food at all in our house- we usually cook from scratch! We're in the US Midwest and this is popular comfort food. Amounts converted from dollars.

Ground turkey- £1.60
Cream of mushroom soup- £0.40
Tater tots- £1.21
Cheese- £0.50
Milk- £0.25
Brocolli- £2.19
=£6.06 for 4 servings, £1.52 per serving
