What's good from Morrisons?

I've recently moved house and am now in the delivery area for Morrisons (as well as the other major supermarkets). Am thinking of giving Morrisons a go for food shopping as I've not shopped there before and fancy a change. What's particularly good/bad to get?

It will be delivery only as the actual store is quite a long way away so I doubt I'll visit in person.

Doughnuts Grin

MintyGreenDream · 08/10/2021 17:23

Their butchers and bakery items are the best out of all the supermarkets imo

Their Black Forest Gateau

Their version of chocolate hobnobs are devine. Aioli, Red Leicester and garlic cheese and Gloucester cheese with onions. Their pies and pastries are also really good.

BirdyBee · 08/10/2021 17:36

Their garlic dough balls and the cream filled iced fingers!

SecretKeeper1 · 08/10/2021 17:42

Salt and pepper bread buns, the tiger buns are also good. Cheese pasties. Agree their bakery beats the other supermarkets hands down.

The frozen stuffed crust pizzas are excellent value too! Also look out for the Indian range of fresh samosas and bhajis.

I don’t get to go to Mozzas very often but when I go that’s what I buy!!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/10/2021 17:48

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee I agree, their doughnuts are amazing! No idea if they sell them online but I love their raspberry and strawberry jam filled doughnuts, the sugar (which apparently is not sugar) topping is lovely!

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 08/10/2021 17:51

Their butchers are great.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 08/10/2021 17:51

@smallandimperfectlyformed have you had the strawberry lemonade? Although my fave is either custard or their toffee apple.
I need to stop eating so many doughnuts!!
I blame Dh he pops in after work in a Friday normally for milk and comes home with them

Caramellatteplease · 08/10/2021 17:53

Fresh meat!! Especially their chopped Turkey for stir fries, pesto and curry

Their super cheap loaf of white bread

Gladioli23 · 08/10/2021 17:54

I enjoy the fresh cream chocolate sponge they do, makes me want to visit at the weekend!

FionnulaTheCooler · 08/10/2021 17:55

Hazelnut chocolate bars. Tastes like a Ferrero Rocher.

bruisedbutnotbeaten · 08/10/2021 17:56

The Best homous.

visitingagain · 08/10/2021 17:57

Everything at Morrison's is slightly disappointing IMO

emmathedilemma · 08/10/2021 17:57

They have some good offers on wine in my local one but other than that I’ve never found anything to rave about compared to other shops! Although mine is relatively small.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/10/2021 17:58

@Needcoffeecoffeecoffee no I haven't tried that one but that sounds good! I hate custard so that's not something I would ever try. Toffee apple on the other hand, sounds delightful 😋

Hairyfriend · 08/10/2021 17:58

I've never had home delivery, but assume its the same. They have a points card (like tesco, nectar etc) but you get an extra 10% discount if you are NHS. They used to offer this to teachers too, but was stopped. Check on their website, as they might offer discounts for other professions too.

shouldistop · 08/10/2021 18:02

Their bakery is brilliant. Their fruit is pretty good too.
It's much better than Asda or Tesco IMO.

mogtheexcellent · 08/10/2021 18:05

Their bixes of flapjacks are lovely. Also yhey do a cherry and cinnamon fizz thats great for non drinkers like me at christmas. Also rice cakes with yoghurt. And their bakery mini bakewell tarts are the best ive tasted. Thick icing and jam and sponge is fluffy.

8dpwoah · 08/10/2021 18:10

I think it's the best supermarket for fresh stuff overall really, cupboard and frozen stuff is much of a muchness but for choice of meat, dairy, deli fruit and veg in balance it would be my first choice of all the supermarkets. Customer service can be a bit hit and miss but not to the extent it puts me off using them.

Graphista · 08/10/2021 18:19

There are some things I like from Morrison's but generally I give them a swerve as their fresh fruit and veg doesn't last 5 minutes!

That's not just one branch on one occasion I've lived all over Uk and tried various branches at different times of year and found this always to be the case

MMAMPWGHAP · 08/10/2021 18:20

Not much special but I seem to remember they sell chicken crowns on a regular basis, which suits us better than a whole chicken.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 08/10/2021 18:27

Their yellow sticker flowers last a minimum of 5 days for a fraction of the cost.

Morrisons the Best Florentines and their sea salt chocolate (or any of their choc)

riotlady · 08/10/2021 18:33

A lot of their Marley street deli stuff is really nice
