What's good from Morrisons?

I've recently moved house and am now in the delivery area for Morrisons (as well as the other major supermarkets). Am thinking of giving Morrisons a go for food shopping as I've not shopped there before and fancy a change. What's particularly good/bad to get?

It will be delivery only as the actual store is quite a long way away so I doubt I'll visit in person.

Doughnuts
Cream cakes
Salt and pepper bread

Their fruit scones from the bakery are delicious. They come in a pack of four, they are square and topped with sugar. I love them!

Smoked salmon
Back bacon
Mince pies (Bakery)
Doughnuts
Walnut bread (I haven't seen it for ages though)
English sparkling wine (much nicer than the stuff from France)

Kezzie200 · 08/10/2021 18:48

Fresh white batch rolls.

Talipesmum · 08/10/2021 18:49

Aside from what others have said, I really like their own brand posh version English breakfast teabags.

thetesdybears · 08/10/2021 18:51

The Best Morrison's cookies at the bakery dept. £1.50 I think for 4 but it's often 2 bags for £2. They taste amazing really soft and delicious!

BeastOfBODMAS · 08/10/2021 18:55

The big sacks of dessert apples and 1kg+ pears are really good value and last forever in the fridge
The wonky avocado nets are also great value.
The best corn fed free range chicken breasts are really good, but the regular free range ones have seemed hacked apart recently, think it is an issue with lack of skilled poultry workers

The trick with Morrisons delivery is they charge the price on the day you add something to your basket and update the order, so if you shop 3 weeks ahead and check/update basket weekly it’s possible to use 3 weeks worth of offers. I rarely pay full price for anything except milk!

Love their fresh cream sponge cake. It's really cheap too.

Tiger bread is good.

Actually most of their fresh baked stuff is good (well what we've tried of it)

I have an account with them but it's not my supermarket of choice.

Blackmagicqueen · 08/10/2021 19:01

'Doughnuts'

I don't agree with this suggestion as they have icing sugar on instead of granulated sugar and the dough tastes 'bready.' I would avoid those at all costs.

Airfixkitwidow · 08/10/2021 19:02

The best balsamic vinegar. I buy in bulk.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2021 19:08

Their own brand baked beans, stone baked pitta breads, breakfast muffins, especially the cheese ones. Own brand decaf filter coffee. All exceptional value.

Meat, bread, cake, plants, all really good.

Vicliz24 · 08/10/2021 19:11

Their sourdough is gorgeous. In fact all their bakery is gorgeous. Great meat and fish too . Their best range is always lovely. Great choice of everything in my local one . It's my supermarket of choice .

Raaaaaaarr · 08/10/2021 19:12

The own brand jellybeans!

ImInStealthMode · 08/10/2021 19:14

Their own brand granola is (IME) both cheaper and better than other supermarkets. They do a lovely box of mixed fruit teabags that I can't find a good alternative to anywhere else, and their own brand Mars bar alternative are lovely.

I'm easily pleased Smile

the best thing about Morrison's is that they have a proper butcher.
I've often been and asked for a cut that's not out on display, and they are always happy to sort one out if you can wait a few minutes for them to butcher it.

Morgantowers · 08/10/2021 19:19

Fresh veg, fresh butchers meat and their mini Indian snacks. Toucan biscuits and fresh cream roll.

Libertaire · 08/10/2021 19:21

The fishmonger & butchery counters. My local Tesco & Sainsburys have closed theirs, they seem to want to have no ponts of difference to Aldi & Lidl except price. Morrisons are keeping theirs, which is great for those of us who find the fact that ‘proper’ butchers are stuck in the 1950s by opening 9-5 on weekdays & 2 hours on a Saturday morning inconvenient.

8dpwoah · 08/10/2021 20:29

Our one's bakery suffers a bit from either overproduction or underpurchasing... quite often the ring donuts are stale to the point of being barely edible. And the soft fruit doesn't last long sometimes. But other than that I can't thing of (m)any other issues we've had with them.

Porfre · 08/10/2021 20:33

I love their potato salad.
All others just taste bland compared to theirs

NannyR · 08/10/2021 20:36

The fresh fish and the cream cakes they make in store are great, also the Belgian chocolate scones from the bakery.

pastabest · 08/10/2021 20:38

Wensleydale cheddar with pickled onions

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 08/10/2021 20:38

I don't like Morrison's bakery.

I do like their fish and meat counters. Morrison's is the only supermarket where I can find cuts like ox cheek and beef shin. The fruit and veg aisle in my Morrison's is really good too.

littlbrowndog · 08/10/2021 20:40

Their whole meal rolls are great no sugar

Their best butter is great

They often have different steaks like flat iron. Great liver.

There frozen fish fingers have a great ratio of fish and nicer than birds eye Awesome on a roll

Wonky veg are great

Titsywoo · 08/10/2021 20:41

I really like their bread and meat. Best place to cut a big variety of cuts so I always go there if I am making a stew as I can get ox cheek/oxtail etc.

littlbrowndog · 08/10/2021 20:41

Also their cafe is good. Especially when you have a few kids
