I'm surprised there are no threads on this, there were loads about ant mcpartlin.

I have no sympathy for drink/drug driving but it's so sad the way her life has turned out. I hope she can sort herself out.

@iklboo

Anybody else would get a custodial sentence for this.
Exactly this. And it makes me angry. It SEEMS as though her family and herself are saying it's her mental health (no one else would be let off). She needs a stint in prison to realise her ways. Like others that do the same
Toastytoads · 29/09/2021 20:47

I think Katie is a very very unwell woman and hopefully will get the help she needs. At this time I hope people can leave her alone and be kind. I'd hate for her to end up like Caroline Flack. If you are on mumsnet Katie, please get well soon

Longdistance · 29/09/2021 20:49

I flit between feeling sorry for her and ‘ffs, sort it out!’
Then, she gets let off lightly, she doesn’t learn from any of it.

LukeEvansWife · 29/09/2021 20:50

She has all the resources in the world. She commits several criminal offences and everyone rushes round to excuse it.

She has had numerous husbands, introduced most partners to her poor children , who then have to deal with her having another baby and then having another public split.

LukeEvansWife · 29/09/2021 20:50

As for whining about being lonely... she could have injured or killed someone

lachy · 29/09/2021 20:50

I don't know Katie Price, but from seeing life events all over the media for many years it's really not surprising that she is now in a bad place, she's always struck me as a lost soul type.

I hope therapy works for her this time and that she gets clean, gets her life back on track and steps back from the spotlight.

The longer the media spotlight is on her, there will inevitably be another incident, but with a significantly worse outcome.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 29/09/2021 20:53

I wonder how sympathetic everyone would be if she had killed someone during this bender.

Bluntness100 · 29/09/2021 20:54

I think she’s very unwell, her face and body are such a mess following so much surgery , her personal life is in a precarious situation, ans she’s a drug addict and alcoholic.

In all honesty I don’t believe a normal custodial sentence is what’s needed here. Maybe a mental health hospital or something similar. I think honestly she desperately needs help and needs to get it or this will end up in tragedy, she will end up dead.

itsgettingwierd · 29/09/2021 20:56

@TheVolturi

And for those being nasty about her, yes she has made lots of mistakes. But she's a human being and a mother like most of us. Just think if she's on a downward spiral how she is likely to be feeling, if she read these comments, I don't think it would help. Oh but because she's famous she should accept it right? Like Caroline Flack?
Nope.

But as humans both woman have to accept responsibility for their actions despite choosing a celebrity lifestyle.

Any celeb should. It shouldn't be a get out of jail free card.

She has willingly lived her life in the media, regardless of the effect on her kids. She's an epic fuck up. There are people who need therapy but they can't get it, whereas she can get whatever she needs but spaffs any help up the wall
itsgettingwierd · 29/09/2021 20:58

Droopy I don't disagree with that. What I was talking about is why her legal team think a few weeks rehab (again) is the answer.

She's in too deep with addiction over many areas of her life for a few weeks at the priory to be the solution.

Revealall · 29/09/2021 20:58

I had a thread deleted on her months ago. Asking why with all the mental health awareness no one is stepping in.

LukeEvansWife · 29/09/2021 20:58

If she is reading this, I'm sure she will be happy at all the bleeding hearts saying she's a poor soul who needs help and understanding

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/09/2021 21:00

Is there no such thing as a permanent driving ban?

Yes, there is; it's rare, but look up Dennis Putz among others

However it's one thing to issue a ban, quite another to actually stop someone getting behind a wheel again

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/09/2021 21:01

Heard about this on this evening’s news. Not really of interest to me, know who she is, would have to live on Mars not to, but no investment in her life.

Did wonder though, what kind of “friend”, she had apparently lunched with one, would allow a drunk, coked up, banned driver with no insurance to get into a vehicle and drive away?

If you’re already a wreck, as this woman clearly is, enabling “friends” like that you really don’t need.

LukeEvansWife · 29/09/2021 21:01

And she's seen as a role model

I think getting into the celeb world as she did is actually a product of her Mh and addictive personality.

Its a vicious negative cycle. One she needs proper help from. But a few weeks rehab isn't enough.

She needs treating as Joe public would for her offences and some kind of order to seek long term effective support.

CyclingIsNotOuting · 29/09/2021 21:02

@Shehasadiamondinthesky

Absolutely this. Jail time.
LukeEvansWife · 29/09/2021 21:03

Best punishment is a complete media blackout on her forever.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/09/2021 21:05

i absolutely had no idea about her convictions

HHSchultz · 29/09/2021 21:06

I really don't want her to go to prison,
It would be terrible for Harvey if she did, he would miss her and that would be cruel.
She stupidly drove a short distance on impulse, she hadn't been driving during her ban it would appear.
She desperately needs support and I hope she gets it.

Fallagain · 29/09/2021 21:07

@Elieza

The bbc says she’s going to go for treatment at the priory.

Meanwhile she’s going through bankruptcy.

Wonder how she will pay the tens of thousands of pounds for the priory. And what tradesmen who have, say, worked on her house and paid for the parts to repair her plumbing or whatever, won’t get paid as she will be bankrupt.

Yet she can find the money to get treatment in order to avoid jail. Funny that.

Priory is not just a private facility.
FreeBritnee · 29/09/2021 21:07

I think she’s not coping with her mums ill health abd the ageing process. I suspect she won’t make old bones sadly.

lachy · 29/09/2021 21:11

I don't disagree with anything you've said.

She is, I believe, very mentally unwell and I hope her treatment is successful.

I just wish it were as easy for Jo Bloggs to access the treatment as it has been for Katie Price.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/09/2021 21:16

What I was talking about is why her legal team think a few weeks rehab (again) is the answer

They're not there to help with the mess which is her life, just to deal with her legal case ... and they probably think the "rehab" an opportunity to claim "Look! She's finally realised the error of her ways and she's doing something about it, so please don't jail her"

Pity of it is, it'll probably work
