I'm surprised there are no threads on this, there were loads about ant mcpartlin.

I have no sympathy for drink/drug driving but it's so sad the way her life has turned out. I hope she can sort herself out.

Yep, anyone else would have been in prison by now.

I hope she gets a lifelong driving ban.

I read in the press today that the prosecutor confirmed a swab had tested positive for cocaine and she said herself at the scene that she had taken it.

Seems pretty compelling to me.

I'll be pretty bloody annoyed if she doesn't get a custodial sentence for this. Sure her defence have rushed her into rehab quickly to minimise the damage but i'd fully expect joe public who had been banned from driving SIX TIMES, who then went out in a massive drink & drugs bender WHILE BANNED and rolled a car to serve time for it. Perhaps a spell away from the limelight might do her good.

People bash on about what a good mother she is. Is she though? Are these the actions (persistent and reoccurring) the actions of a 'good mother'? Really?

Jail could be the shock she needs. She will make a lot of money when she gets out of she plays it right, and I agree with other posters that I don't want to see her hung out to dry when Ant got off Scot free (although admittedly one offence).

TinySong is nailing it with every post.

You really don't want to think badly of her because we have seen all her good and she's a public figure.

But what seems uncomfortable and what's best and should happen are often 2 conflicting things.

I don't want her jailed because she's clearly fragile and damaged and because we know she has a ds who will be massively affected by that.

But remove the celebrity and public image and you have someone with repeated convictions and bans who had continued to break the law.

Maybe loving isn’t the right word, but I agree in a sense. Not that I think she did this for the attention. In a very sad and twisted way she is hooked on media attention - just another kind of drug for some people. She is only in the media because she courts it so much - if the media chose to ignore her there would be very few people actually interested or wondering what she was up too. It’s all just another kind of drug in a way.
Her state of mind is in so many ways irrelevant here. She doesn’t deserve any pity at this point. She could have killed someone - easily. And I think at that point mental health issues doesn’t come in to it anymore. It selfishness and disregard for others above all else. She is an extremely egotistical and self-centred person. I wouldn’t want to know her and I’d be ashamed to be her. She deserves a jail sentence.

Lovemusic33 - We don’t know what drugs they were? It could have been drugs that she had been prescribed rather than recreational drugs? She’s probably still on strong pain killers for her injuries on her feet?

Her life went badly wrong when she split with Pete I think. He could have saved her from all this but too late now. I have always liked her for how brilliant she is with Harvey. I hope she's OK.

What I don't understand is why was she out buying coke? Most dealers are happy to deliver.....

She's well known to have been doing coke on and off for years, a few of her exs are dealers.

But even if she wasn't on coke she was she still shouldn't have been driving because she's banned!

There's no excuse for this. She wants to go and see Harvey? Then she gets someone to give her a lift. She's got various siblings and other family. Her on / off fiancé. Any friends who she hasn't pissed off. Or she can use some of the money she's hiding from her bankruptcy case and hired a driver or even got the train. There is no justification for her driving. None.

I have zero sympathy for anyone who gets behind a wheel after drinking/drug taking. She needs to go to prison

And for those being nasty about her, yes she has made lots of mistakes. But she's a human being and a mother like most of us. Just think if she's on a downward spiral how she is likely to be feeling, if she read these comments, I don't think it would help. Oh but because she's famous she should accept it right? Like Caroline Flack?

She is an absolute disgrace. She deserves locking up.

No one else would have got away with what she has. At some proceedings she didn't even both to turn up to court.

God knows how many pets have been killed while in her care and she just goes out and gets another one.

Her kids are wheeled out when it suits her image, most of the time they live with their fathers as she isn't capable of looking after them in a decent way. She has used Harvey for her own publicity, I hope now he is where he is he gets some stability.

I checked to see if there was a thread earlier but assumed people were too scared to mention it as threads about Kate often get heated. There’s also a chance Kate comes on MN.

As a single parent to 2 autistic teens I do feel for her, I know she was upset not being able to see Harvey in Cheltenham due to not being able to drive, I can imagine how hard that must be because they are so close. Having a child with additional needs is a constant battle, I know he’s in residential but the worry doesn’t stop, the contact doesn’t stop and fighting his corner doesn’t stop. My life is a constant battle trying to get my kids the right provision whilst trying to keep them safe, there are times where I could have easily lost the plot and gone off the rails.

I’m pleased I haven’t seen people slagging her off on social media (though I’m sure somewhere they are). I hope she gets the help she needs.

It's sad that she couldn't drive to see her child yet she clearly felt able to drive somewhere else.

Well rehab is a good start.

She has troubles that run very deeply. That's clear for anyone to see.

She has a very addictive personality.

I also agree that more needs to be done. So far her bans etc have not served her well in changing her behaviour.

The problem is where the answer lies with her? A few weeks rehab isn't enough. She in too deep for that now.

But if it was one of us , we'd be serving time .

It does make you wonder what she would actually have to do to face any level of consequences. I'm furious that she's been packed off to rehab which has never worked before for her.

She could have killed someone. It was luck more than judgement that she didn't.

I find it interesting that people still trot out the “she’s a good mother” line. No doubt she loves her kids but that does not make her a good mother. She is a self-obsessed drug abuser who has made countless bad/ reckless choices and exposed her kids to a revolving door of unsuitable and abusive men. I hope the kids are kept well away from her for their own sake and can get some stability with their dads. Whilst she spends 10s of thousands that she technically shouldn’t have as she claims to be bankrupt at yet another stay in rehab to avoid going to jail.

But if any of us had driven on coke whilst already banned 6 times, we'd be facing a custodial sentence.

Why should the consequence be different simply because she's (in)famous?

she is a terrible mother and i really dont get it when people say how fantastic she is,the bar is set very low

i feel for all her children of course they love her but she continues to damage them and even though the fathers have the huge majority of the care they really need to insist on supervised access now
