What are the papers trying to hint about Meghan?

My curiosity is getting the better of me here. I know when papers can't print something, they hint and hint terribly:
-the falling out between the d.o.c & her Norfolk friend

  • comparing the guy who plays lord grantham to Ryan giggs etc.

But I just can't figure out what they're trying to say by banging on and on about the duchess of Sussex's 'unseasonably warm coat'. There's easily been 5 articles in the dm about it. I know I shouldn't care, but I'm bored and sleep deprived so if anyone would like to humour me, I'm all ears!

I should probably add I quite like Meghan and I'm trying to drop my mindless scrolling of the daily Mail so if you're going to slate either party, I'd much prefer that it was the mail!

I've noticed there's been lots of fluffy DM articles about Lady Louise recently as well and I've been wondering what's been going on there too.
She's about to turn 18 and so will be able to make her own decision about whether to start to use the HRH to which she is entitled by birth.

Parents decided against, but their decision runs out when she turns 18.

And the story is being used as something of a proxy for the 'slimmed down' monarchy

I think they are just trying to suggest that she’s getting it all wrong.

Still got some baby weight - how dreadful

Wearing a coat - must want to hide something

Takes coat off and has a hint of baby weight - shameful

Expensive clothes when visiting deprived areas - bad taste and not like Kate who wears Zara

She cannot do anything right. Poor woman.

Maybe she felt a bit cold after California sunshine. When I moved back to the UK after living in a warm climate, I wore jumpers, jackets and put the heating on. It was July and I’m sure people thought I was a bit odd.

Wasn't it because the coat was hugely expensive and she was visiting a school where 98% (or similar) of the children were in food poverty??

I have no feelings either way on Meghan but I am slightly obsessed with her coats. I think it's because I'm someone who often misjudges the temperature too (except I just end up looking like a sweaty mess)

I think they’re making a point about the wires - Harry’s was visible, and apparently she’s wearing coats to hide hers. That they’re wired up because this is going to all feature in their documentary for Netflix. Ie this isn’t altruism or philanthropy , but them creating content for their shows.

I’m not a fan of either side ! The press or H&M. But I do wish the press would just let them get in with whatever it is they now see themselves as being. (USA royalty?)

@MsHedgehog lack of photographic evidence of baby and how old she is. Rumours she used a surrogate as she's so terribly old 🙄 and now that she fell pregnant unplanned before the baby was born hence being 5 months or so pregnant already.

She won't be pregnant again, they made a big deal out of only have 2 for the sake of the planet.

They are being cunts because she's not as thin as she used to be.

I saw a story this morning about the fact she'd (finally!) taken off her coat 🙄 And the photo showed a bit of weight gain around her tummy.
It's pretty vile tbh; she's just had 2 babies in quick succession. I've only had the one, nearly 15 months ago, and still dealing with an additional 15lb of flab on my midsection.

I’ve still not lost the baby weight and my youngest is 12 years old Grin thankfully I can avoid all photos and the daily Mail isn’t interested in my weight Grin

I honestly couldn’t give a care what she wears or doing. She’s recently given birth and has a toddler refreshing to maybe see the priority given to embracing being a Mum and not give into the media hype of loosing baby weight and instantly skinny….just for the media !

As a result of this thread I just googled "meghan coat nyc", got lovely pics, no dramatic story lines thank goodness. I don't really follow up celebrities, royal or otherwise, but the pics were nice and I liked that they hold hands so much.

I live in NY and have been wondering all week what the heck she was thinking when planning her wardrobe. On the day she wore a polo neck and tan winter coat, it was 82° and SO humid, I’m surprised she didn’t faint. My guess is she is trying to steer the narrative away from her post baby body and the media can’t just fat shame anymore so they’re insinuating instead.

I think it’s bullying tactics. She took Daily Mail and other papers to court and won. So they are doing what bullies do and pick on every little thing. What shocks me more is people who buy into it and base their opinions on Meghan based off what these bullies write. Crazy that the other royals can do the same things as Meghan and Harry and the papers praise them for it…screams micro aggressions to me

Didn't she have a baby 3 months ago? Seriously, making nasty comments about a woman who gave birth a matter of weeks ago is pretty low. My youngest is 8 years old, and it would take a lot more than a coat to hide my weight.

I’m not a fan but she is an apple shape and will always find it difficult to keep her tummy in shape. I feel quite sorry for her, the baby is not 3 months old she obviously feels self conscious.

Doesn't anyone else think she's trying to generate attention and speculation about herself by wearing thick coats in very hot weather?
Whatever your opinion of her, nobody can deny her and Harry are making a career out of being in the public eye.

Covering up weight gain and merching are two that I've heard.
She was on TV last night, both my partner and I said she gained some weight (though this could be due to her recent pregnancy, maybe she don't bother with rushing to lose the weight this time round
