What are the papers trying to hint about Meghan?

My curiosity is getting the better of me here. I know when papers can't print something, they hint and hint terribly:
-the falling out between the d.o.c & her Norfolk friend

  • comparing the guy who plays lord grantham to Ryan giggs etc.

But I just can't figure out what they're trying to say by banging on and on about the duchess of Sussex's 'unseasonably warm coat'. There's easily been 5 articles in the dm about it. I know I shouldn't care, but I'm bored and sleep deprived so if anyone would like to humour me, I'm all ears!

I should probably add I quite like Meghan and I'm trying to drop my mindless scrolling of the daily Mail so if you're going to slate either party, I'd much prefer that it was the mail!

Okay well you're ignoring the part where I make the distinction between obviously expensive clothing and appropriate for the situation clothing, which can be just as expensive if you try hard enough.

Because you keep ignoring parts of my responses and cutting back to previous points, I feel that this conversation is going nowhere, so I shall leave you with this thought.

High fashion is appropriate for evening, fashion and formal events, not so much for walking the dog, meeting school children or popping into the local for a pint

It's not that shocking if an opinion for me to have if you think about it.

But you were saying that it's bad to wear expensive clothes for certain events but then it's ok to wear expensive ones as long as they don't look flashy or expensive. Surely that's subjective & if the whole point is it's offensive to wear £££ clothes in the first place why does it become ok if they are £££ but understated.
Plus i'm not sure why trousers & a shacket is so inappropriate.

But we aren't getting anywhere as you keep ignoring my points that it doesn't make sense & is disingenuous. see ya!

Teapiggies · 26/09/2021 13:15

@wellards

Gosh you’ve got it in for me today haven’t you Wellards

Am I not allowed to disagree with your opinion? But if it's a problem than you can ignore me & not respond.

I don't think Kate is an "incredible clothes horse" at all. Obviously she is under strict constraints but I often find it so surprising for someone young & so slim that she often doesn't pull off her outfits & looks dated, it's confusing!

Meghan looks great in photos, she's very photogenic & I think they both have that girl next door thing going on. I really don't see this Kate is amazing & Meghan is average thing. Perhaps it's an age thing, Im in my 30s & from London so a classic, safe dress sense wouldn't be my thing but I understand Kate has to dress in a certain way.

Of course you are but I feel like I touched a nerve with the apple shaped comment and you’ve been @-ing me ever since, lol.

Kates outfits weren’t up to much about 10 years ago, but they’ve massively improved over the last couple of years - her ‘casual’ outfits are a bit less mumsy, and her engagement outfits are very well cut. She seems to understand now what is appropriate for what event. I remember her wearing a purple lace dress for a morning engagement some years ago and thinking Hmm but I thought she looked incredible in the outfit she wore to H&M’s wedding, as well as the tailored flared trousers she is wearing a lot of at the moment.

Meghan’s style was very cute & casual, the beanie hats/oversized shirts/ripped jeans, but she seems to be going for ‘high fashion’ now which she just can’t carry off - her waist is too thick for tailored outfits unless very flattering, and her limbs are very thin but not shapely or toned. She’s too short and it makes her look like the clothes are wearing her rather than vice versa.

If I were Meghan I would stick to patterns and fuller skirts like the black Oscar de la Renta dress she wore a while back, which was her best outfit in my opinion.

Speaking of which, long shot but does anyone know where Kate got her white knit Bardot style top she wore with jeans to get her vaccine?

Roguehair · 26/09/2021 13:31

@StarkintheSouth

I noticed that Meghan’s outfit was headline news whilst updates on Prince Andrew’s court case was buried halfway down the feed. The reason you’re seeing so much fuss over what this woman is wearing is to bury the actual, scandalous news. Which is what the RF want.

What an appalling way to judge another woman’s body. The thing is I would put good money on it that thr posters saying this sort of awful thing don’t look anywhere near as good as she does, and likely are not three months post partum.

PinkTonic · 26/09/2021 14:20

In what capacity are they visiting a school? They aren’t working royalty so what’s the purpose? Surely if it’s charity based or raising awareness, it’s about the work and wearing ostentatiously flashy clothing and jewellery detracts from the core mission and makes it all about her? Oh but….

amusedtodeath1 · 26/09/2021 14:29

They donated two boxes of veg, a cooker and some copies of the bench to the school.

Part of her work is in fashion. She makes large amount of money from a fickle industry. So I feel entitled to judge her outfits, and it is very hard to do that without saying why they do or don’t look good. So calm down.
Bluntness100 · 26/09/2021 14:43

But that’s not judging her outfits, that’s judging her body, and no you’re not entitled to do that.

amusedtodeath1 · 26/09/2021 14:48

It's not judging someone's body to say they're short waisted or pear shaped or apple shapes. People should know how to dress for their body shape.

SomewhereInBrooklyn · 26/09/2021 14:52

I agree. That particular post was really awful. I can’t imagine critiquing another persons body like that, who even thinks those things never mind says or writes about them. Nobody is entitled to do that. And to say a woman has a thick waist when she’s not long had a baby...and on a parenting site. Meghan has been called tone deaf and told to read the room. Maybe some posters here should do that.

THisbackwithavengeance · 26/09/2021 14:52

I've met the DOC. She's tall and rail thin with tiny shoulders and very attractive and stylish. But I wouldn't call her classically beautiful

But I consider MM to be a true beauty. She is a stunning woman and looks amazing.

My personal opinion. Am always amazed though when she is bad mouthed for her looks and figure on threads.

amusedtodeath1 · 26/09/2021 14:55

I think Meghan has better skin, she is very attractive no doubt about it.

DoraMaude · 26/09/2021 14:55

I'm a similar shape to Meghan (but don't have her face or fabulous legs). My arms and legs are slim but my torso is short and I don't have a waist. There are some dresses that can be really difficult to wear and a shift dress like she was wearing today isn't very flattering for her shape. I think she looks fabulous in the fitted pencil skirts she wears (she wore a gorgeous green leather one once) and sharp blouses. She looks great in classic clothes, nothing too fancy. Jeans, shirts, sunglasses. None of this is meant as a criticism, just an observation.

amusedtodeath1 · 26/09/2021 14:56

They are both beautiful women and there's space enough for them both to be whoever they are without it detracting from the other.
