I'm 22 and have been to 1 wedding but I was a kid. I dont know much about the dos and don'ts for wedding guest outfits.
Is this an alright outfit to wear or is it too colourful? Too short?

I depends a bit on what the other guests are like. The lilac one could be a bit shiny and short I think.

SheWoreYellow · 25/09/2021 08:41

I should say I don’t think you can go wrong with the pink one. It’s really pretty but not eyebrow raising in any way.

What size should I order, I'm size 14 but I'm currently exercising and loosing weight for my health and happiness. Is it possible to drop a size in 3m? What should I do? If I leave it they will probabaly be gone

Don’t ever bank on weight loss, just find something that fits nearer the time.

sparkysdream · 25/09/2021 08:50

Pink one definitely

TheWitchCirce · 25/09/2021 09:14

The pink in size 14.

Rebelmcstreettuff · 25/09/2021 10:12

First pic you posted is hideous....OK if you are attending the wedding with your pimp Grin

Gyredjk · 25/09/2021 10:50

They are like those hideous dresses that linger on sale rails forever.

me4real · 25/09/2021 13:30

The pink one (last you posted) is nice and fine. Get the 14 and if you want to you can always have it taken in nearer the time.

NoWayRose · 25/09/2021 17:34

Have you considered renting something on Hurr or By Rotation apps?

Hurr has a selection of wedding dress ideas ... www.hurrcollective.com/edits/wedding-guest-outfits

By Rotation also does too if you go in the app - think its suggestions might be slightly younger/more reasonable and work better for you...

Look at Chi Chi London.
You want classy.
A simple clutch with a statement dress

2nd pink one is really pretty! I think you might find the first too shiny so I would avoid it. If you're going to try and lose weight I'd still get a size 14 and if you lose weight you can get it taken in. Less pressure that way.
Lily78123 · 25/09/2021 17:52

Not ok, looks like a carnival outfit. Sorry.

Hesma · 25/09/2021 17:57

Both too chavvy… you need something more sophisticated. It’s all about the bride, not you

Wowyouareboring · 25/09/2021 18:03

No

LoveableLou · 25/09/2021 18:04

OP, why don't you try somewhere like Zara, Dorothy Perkins or Asos. All three have occasion dresses which you'll probably be able to wear again. When is the wedding? If it's in the next couple of months think about the fact it'll be turning chilly so you'll need a half decent coat to keep you warm. Also, if you're wearing heels then break them in a bit first by wearing them around the house. Avoid massive skyscrapers though as you'll be in pain and be miserable.

rosydreams · 25/09/2021 18:05

the purple floral and pink are nice but do you trust the site be careful there are some dodgy clothes sites. Were they look all nice in the photo then look horrid in person. For a wedding i find it best to try it in person make sure you feel good in it.Taking a look in the mirror to see the fit will help with your confidence

Generally at a wedding woman wear a dress that is not to showy as to not outshine the bride.Anything to frilly resembles a wedding dress thus is generally frowned upon .Anything to similar to a wedding dress is what people avoid

Whycantibeapuppy · 25/09/2021 18:05

First one does look like something a child would wear and definitely not appropriate for a wedding.
The green on is gorgeous and much more suitable!

Lollee · 25/09/2021 18:08

Looks more like a disco, party outfit. Weddings are meant to be serious occasions and I would suggest that decorum is the order of the day, regardless of age.

CurryLover55 · 25/09/2021 18:11

Clymene that is one of the best things I have read on Mumsnet!! Vulva in a cage!! Comedy gold!

Jaem23 · 25/09/2021 18:16

I find Chichi to be a little bit on the smaller size! As a 14 I’d always go for 16. :) It may be safer to go for a dress that fits now as it’s easier to get a dress taken in (and cheaper) than have to replace it!

Pr1mr0se · 25/09/2021 18:18

@Sophie1029734

Been seeing chi chi a lot, never heard of them so decided to have a look. Are these okay for a wedding? I will upload another 3
