I'm 22 and have been to 1 wedding but I was a kid. I dont know much about the dos and don'ts for wedding guest outfits.
Is this an alright outfit to wear or is it too colourful? Too short?

Are you the bride?

Hi OP, the secret with outfits (for younger ladies) for formal occasions is to have something slightly revealing at the top OR the bottom but never at both ends. If its revealing at the top AND bottom you're going into party/clubbing outfit territory which is inappropriate

Hugoslavia · 24/09/2021 21:05

Pretty Little Thing also do those ball and chain type bags that you like, but without the vulvas.

I think the qararli dress is lovely

RahRahRa · 24/09/2021 21:18

Hmmm it’s a bit too Disney for me.

WombatChocolate · 24/09/2021 21:21

The idea with weddings is they are a formal occasion. That doesn’t mean the outfit has to be frumpy or you have to wear something someone 30 years older would choose. But it’s a formal occasion and not going to a Club.

Absolutely go contemporary, stylish, young and striking if you want to.

There will be weddings where many women are boobs out, extremely short skirts, lots of fake tan, extremely high heels etc etc. Weddings and what people wear to them often reflect the Bride and Groom and their friends. And in lots of ways, that’s absolutely right. But just remember it’s inter-generational too and that you should consider others too and think what your own Granny might like or find appropriate, rather than what lots of 22 year olds might like. Consider if it’s in a Church or a nice hotel or other venue and what would be appropriate for there.

It’s easy to look at wedding pics on the internet for ideas and to see what people are wearing. You’ll be sat probably for a longish meal, in all liklihood with people you don’t know, so bear that in mind too.

It's like one of those babydoll things for in the bedroom, or a mini tarty version of something off the gypsy wedding programme.

I'm assuming this is a wind up.

The weird cage with a fanny in is weird.

Allycott · 24/09/2021 21:29

Fake post - or Kate price

Bluntness100 · 24/09/2021 21:30

Can’t get my head round folks trying to find similar dresses, when the first two were so inappropriate 😂

secular39 · 24/09/2021 21:40

Chi Chi do not always deliver on time and their dresses look different (quality wise) from the pictures.

pilates · 24/09/2021 21:41

Well said WombatChocolate

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 24/09/2021 21:45

The first one is tacky IMHO

Second one is better

me4real · 24/09/2021 21:48

How about something like this one? www.amazon.co.uk/GRACE-KARIN-Shoulder-Festival-Birthday/dp/B092MHB3FH?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Sorry I can't get a pic to work on my PC.

ikeepseeingit · 24/09/2021 21:52

@Sophie1029734

Other 2
Love the first one in that list! I'm 23 and would wear that one too. I also got married a couple of weeks ago and would have thought a guest looked lovely in it. I think the first two are great dresses, love the colour, but not suitable for a wedding.
Rach888 · 24/09/2021 21:57

Still trying to decide if this is a wind up! The person who said ‘tacky can-can gypsy’ or words to that effect is spot on. Listen to them.

If serious - try ASOS or H&M they have some beautiful dresses.

Sacredspace · 24/09/2021 22:00

It depends on the type of wedding, eg might be suitable for a gypsy wedding, but would be frowned upon by other cultures..

Lilymossflower · 24/09/2021 22:01

I think the 3rd and 4th chi chi dresses are the best options

MNBookNerd · 24/09/2021 22:03

Wow

ElephantCup · 24/09/2021 22:14

@Sophie1029734

Been seeing chi chi a lot, never heard of them so decided to have a look. Are these okay for a wedding? I will upload another 3
All of these are lovely
Winter2019 · 24/09/2021 22:32

I actually like the very first one OP. For a summer wedding and if it really comes how it's in the photo.

Hen2018 · 24/09/2021 22:50

Ahahahahahaha! No.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/09/2021 22:54

God, so many of these dresses look horrifically flammable

One stray drunken fag and you're toast !

Mummy7777 · 24/09/2021 23:16

Love the pink chi chi one. So pretty.
