Is there any way to smuggle alcohol into a cinema

The cinemas in my local city doesn't serve alcoholic drinks. I'm not an alcoholic by the way.

I was waiting for the James bond movie for a long time but covid came and it didn't come out. Its been a long year filled with so much shit. I'm not an alcoholic by the way. I do practice drink safety. I don't drink to get drunk. I would like to have some drinks when I go to the cinema. I want to pack my handbag with a bottle with me in my handbag. I want to enjoy some drinks while watching the movie to relax and unwind. I won't be falling out the door drunk.

Last time I was in the cinema my bag was checked or my handbag was taken off me.

I've never had my bag checked or taken from me in the cinema.Confused

Janaih · 20/09/2021 18:15

Go to a different cinema, never had my bag checked in Vue, odeon or reel.

ZealAndArdour · 20/09/2021 18:17

You sure told us a lot of times there that you’re not an alcoholic and don’t have a drink problem Grin

Maybe just go to a cinema that serves alcohol. But also, never had my bag searched, not once in any cinema I’ve ever been to anywhere in the UK.

People who say 'I'm not an alcoholic by the way' twice whilst planning now to smuggle a bottle of wine into the cinema might want to examine their relationship with alcohol just a little bit more closely

Corrag · 20/09/2021 18:17

Are you not allowed to take any drinks in with you? Or is just alcohol you're not allowed?

ftw163532 · 20/09/2021 18:17

I dunno, if you are that desperate to have alcohol at the cinema it sounds pretty problematic. No matter how many times you declare you don't have a drink problem.

SheABitSpicyToday · 20/09/2021 18:17

I have never been searched going until the cinema. And I often take my own drink with me.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/09/2021 18:18

I have never had my bag checked going in to any cinema and in the local ones I frequent they sell alcohol to take in with you. Get some small cans of G&T or similar and crack on.

MajesticallyAwkward · 20/09/2021 18:18

Is it a chain or an independent cinema? I've never had a bag checked or been to a cinema that didn't allow snacks and drinks to be brought in, confiscating unchecked bags is ridiculous.

I'd suggest another cinema, I think it's odeon do a premium seat with a bar.

FatJan · 20/09/2021 18:18

Are you in the UK? I just take it in with me. Never known it to be a problem.

LivingOnABuildingSite · 20/09/2021 18:19

Might not be the answer but I went to a cinema in London that served drinks, think it was an Odeon Luxe?
Glass of Prosecco and super comfy seats, fab.

Was fabulous and well worth the price. (Maybe not the train ticket to London as well but was going for something else)

I like a glass of something when watching a film at home too.

TheQueef · 20/09/2021 18:21

Drink outside before the film.
Then have a game with yourself how many minutes you stayed awake.

girlmom21 · 20/09/2021 18:21

Is it a popular chain? Check their FAQ's on the website but generally there are no bag checks anymore.

Janaih · 20/09/2021 18:21

Maybe is just OP that gets their bag checked. Is there a photo of you on the wall there?

Hoppinggreen · 20/09/2021 18:22

Our odeon serves alcohol
However, I don’t feel the need to repeatedly say I’m not an alcaholic if I have a glass of wine when we go

Underpaidsnackbitch · 20/09/2021 18:23

I've never been searched going into the cinema (Vue, cineworld, odeon etc) and I always take my own drinks and snacks, because cinema prices are ridiculous! I've never taken alcohol in but I might go for a gin tin next time to test the waterGrin

Whitedressparis · 20/09/2021 18:23

Oh give over @ftw163532 you condescending article Gin

OP - that’s weird, I’ve never ever ever had my bag checked. Which cinema chain ??

maddy68 · 20/09/2021 18:25

I always take a g&t in a can in with me in my handbag

Well quite.
LukeEvansWife · 20/09/2021 18:27

I used to work in a cinema. Please don’t do this. If you get caught, some poor kid on minimum wage has to chuck you out.

I’m glad your bag was checked as it sounds like management are taking responsibility.

Honestly, if you can’t sit through a film without alcohol, you might want to reevaluate!

Wolfiefan · 20/09/2021 18:27

Go to another cinema or manage a whole film without alcohol. Confused

TeaMeBasil · 20/09/2021 18:27

We always take a couple of gin tins into a movie, never had anyone check bags or stop us

Babysharkdoodoodood · 20/09/2021 18:27

Everyman cinemas serve food and alcohol to your seat. Little tables between the sofas. Very nice

LukeEvansWife · 20/09/2021 18:29

They wouldn’t have confiscated your bag for a couple of tins of G&T though - how much did you have in there? Confused

Frazzledd · 20/09/2021 18:29
