Is there any way to smuggle alcohol into a cinema

The cinemas in my local city doesn't serve alcoholic drinks. I'm not an alcoholic by the way.

I was waiting for the James bond movie for a long time but covid came and it didn't come out. Its been a long year filled with so much shit. I'm not an alcoholic by the way. I do practice drink safety. I don't drink to get drunk. I would like to have some drinks when I go to the cinema. I want to pack my handbag with a bottle with me in my handbag. I want to enjoy some drinks while watching the movie to relax and unwind. I won't be falling out the door drunk.

Last time I was in the cinema my bag was checked or my handbag was taken off me.

take some wine in a soft drink bottle/water bottle.

Fill up an empty Lucozade bottle with Skol Super?

Wishingwell75 · 20/09/2021 18:30

Erm....wtaf are you either not in the UK or are you actually 16 and looking for booze smuggling tips???😁
I think you can drink in the posh seats in the Odeon or whatever the other one is called, been so long since I went to the pictures, I bet they're not silent movies anymore....are they?
Off the top of my head - it's a straightforward swap of a still non alcoholic beverage for an alcoholic one, vodka for water if you're hardcore OP or fruit juice blended with a spirit. Basically if you can take snacks in, then I am sure you can take a drink in.
But......why would you want to? I don't like drinking alone or on the extremely rare occasion I would have a glass of red on my own then I'd prefer to be home.
Please don't put your self in danger by getting wrecked or something and risking some dickhead predator noticing. I hate that I felt compelled to include that, because why shouldn't you be able to get a bit merry without that concern.
Finally, the reason I ask if you are in the UK is that I have never had by bag searched anywhere but clubs and raves in the 90's and I certainly wouldn't tolerate it now!😁

You sound slightly insane. Maybe there is a reason they checked your handbag as I have never ever heard of that before at a cinema. How about tape a colostomy bag full of wine to your stomache with a straw taped between your breasts?

LukeEvansWife · 20/09/2021 18:31

And if you do get asked to leave, don’t be a dick about it.

Theworldisquiethere · 20/09/2021 18:32

I’ve never had my bag checked or taken off me at the cinema… do you look particularly suspicious?

10ColaBottles · 20/09/2021 18:32

Get 500ml bottle of coke.

Drink a third. Top up with vodka/ whiskey etc.

SirChenjins · 20/09/2021 18:33

Take it in a water bottle? I’ve never had my bags checked going into the cinema - does your local cinema know you and your non-alkie ways quite well? Grin

NapoleonOzmolysis · 20/09/2021 18:35

Our cinema always used to check bags - it's an independent one. In a shopping centre though so I've brought in happy meals in shoe boxes before Grin

Jellypot · 20/09/2021 18:35

I actually had no alcohol before. It was a shopping bag they took off me before. I was glad they took my shopping because I was able to go into the screen and watch a movie in peace without a load of shopping bags at my feet.

Someone made a very good point about going to sleep. I might forget about the alcohol in case I drift off to sleep. I was waiting for this movie for so long, I don't want to go to sleep.

The best cinema I went to was in York. I had a couple of glasses of wine and they had comfy sofas. If you’re going in the evening it makes sense to have a drink as you would at home watching a movie/tv.

Tooembarrassingtomention · 20/09/2021 18:37

A bottle of wine fits in a large chilly bottle
Sorted

Polkadots2021 · 20/09/2021 18:37

Put a couple of little bottles of vodka or whatever, those tiny ones, in your inside jacket pocket, buy a big coke at the cinema, sit down in the dark, pour subtly, enjoy Grin

Polkadots2021 · 20/09/2021 18:39

Did nobody else do this in their youth? Seriously, posters acting as if the OP is nuts, what are you on about Grin

SteveArnottsWaistcoat · 20/09/2021 18:40

Go to a cinema with a bar?

girlmom21 · 20/09/2021 18:41

@LukeEvansWife

I used to work in a cinema. Please don’t do this. If you get caught, some poor kid on minimum wage has to chuck you out.

I’m glad your bag was checked as it sounds like management are taking responsibility.

Honestly, if you can’t sit through a film without alcohol, you might want to reevaluate!

Our local cinema has a bar and their website specifically says you can bring food from outside as long as it's not hot so it depends on the cinema as to whether the OP would actually be causing any problems.
Mumdiva99 · 20/09/2021 18:43

30 years ago they did used to search your bags for cans, crisps and snacks because you were only allowed to purchase there exorbitant priced snacks. But it hasn't been that way for years and years. We used to have to hide it under other stuff in our bags....but we were smuggling pick and mix from woolies and a carton of umbongo not a G&T.

SteveArnottsWaistcoat · 20/09/2021 18:43

Failing that, get yourself some capri suns, drink the contents then refill with spirit if your choice. Then smuggle in in your bra or down yer keks. No one will be frisking you up around there during this whole me too climate. Buy yourself a small soft drink for £36 and pour in the spirits as you go. Enjoy!

Driftingblue · 20/09/2021 18:43

If you must do this, just get a wine bra.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 20/09/2021 18:46

I’ve never been checked at the cinema.

But I do put wine in a water bottle on evening game drives in Africa.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 20/09/2021 18:47

I'd smuggle mini bottles of wine in my bomber jacket back in the dayGrin
OP, I'm definitely thinking you must have looked suspicious as all the cinemas I've visited in the last 20years have never checked my bags or taken any off me. I didn't think staff would be allowed to do that today.

RedToothBrush · 20/09/2021 18:50

Get better at smuggling things in?

Suzi888 · 20/09/2021 18:51

We always buy a mini bottle and take it inConfused I’ve never had my bag touched.

PumpkinKlNG · 20/09/2021 18:51

What Cinemas do you go to? I always go to odeon and have never had my bags checked ever

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/09/2021 18:52

Ooh, I haven't had my bag searched going to the cinema since the Forum in Glasthule in 1991. Happy days.
