Hope you dont get too ill Helena you are young and active so that should help, it seems to vary a lot but does seem to worsen with age and think I have been unlucky as well.

DH just bought some sweets and was complaining there were no love hearts in the packet. I pointed out he had bought a packet of Swizzels sweets called lots of lollies and love hearts are not lollies. He said he should have bought the other pack.

@HelenaJustina hope you are not feeling to rough, I got home early afternoon and felt really rough and light headed, got some tea together for myself and DD2 and felt a bit better afterwards.

Currently curled up the sofa watching TV, DD2 is upstairs in her room

Sorry you are feeling ill Starting Hope you feel better soon.

I seem to have a new cough, probably picked up in hospital, so said to dh he may prefer to sleep in little bed to avoid catching and listening to it. He went to little bed but then 30 mins later I screamed as a spider landed on me so he came back to check. Spider has disappeared now and will both try and sleep.

HelenaJustina fingers crossed you'll escape a bad run-in and that the rest of your family remains negative.

@Silkieschickens you ladies and spiders do make me smile, yummy mummy #1 has a big spider phobia to the extent that she struggles to go in her garage just in case and won't move any boxes around. Tried to reassure her that there no cute mummy eating spiders in the UK

Hope you managed to get some sleep

Report
Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 08:40

Thanks Starting Had about 5 hours sleep which isnt too bad as can nap later and woke to a beautiful sunrise over the thatched roof. We get a fair amount of spiders here, I am OK with them unless they land on me when I scream, DD screams at the sight of any of them so DH offers a lot of spider rescue services for DD. Hopefully YummyMummy1 will need your spider rescue services soon.

Hope the rest of your family are negative Helena though it is a balance between trying to avoid it and getting the pain over more quickly.

DD said she is out socialising all Saturday and Sunday, not sure when gcse mock preparation is happening but I am told it is. May get pumpkins for the kids to carve. Not sure what is happening at DDs Halloween party, she has said there will be no drinking and no trick or treating but then was Hmm not sure what we can do. Probably will be sitting next to each other on phones.

DH is negative but he is triple jabbed so expected that. 2DC have come back negative, 1DC as positive and 1DC result missing. DH has suggested that positive is false positive, I’ve asked that they do a lateral flow. If positive is correct, they will miss a swim gala this weekend, school and a weekend residential next weekend. I also can’t see how the others can do on the residential, it feels really irresponsible.

Don’t know what to do with positive child (no symptoms) make them stay in their room or bring them in to isolate with me.

Report
Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 09:17

Its tricky, I would assume pcr is correct for the positive one and either bring them in with you if you are well enough or mix as normal if kids have been mixing before but do whatever works for your family. By the time DD tested positive I was already ill and DH had been ill but tested negative for a few weeks so was too late for us so we mixed normally and didnt go out. Well DH went out for food and DS was symptomless so he went to school and he stayed free of it.

I think the pcr positives are normally correct, so would work on basis that is right, think a third of people are symptomless, it could be symptoms will appear later but children normally arent too bad with it, DD was 8 days and just needed cold and flu meds and sympathy.

Helena, positive DC can isolate with you.

Good morning, all the best for all you infected people. I hope things won't get too bad for you!!!

Friday, my day off, what fun things will I do?
start a campaign to get rid of fungus gnats (Trauermücken) in houseplants
empty the last annuals into the bio bin and make sure the perennials will get over the winter
buy printer catridges

(My only experience with c19 is that DH turned out to have had it about April last year, as a pre-OP antibody test showed antibodies - he did not realize he'd had it.)

Hope you get to do something nice today Prok Did you get to see the art gallery in the end?

DH is off to the shop, its all of 3 doors down, getting hot dogs for lunch and more elderflower cordial and I may try some Activia yoghurts to see if they help or make things worse.

Report
HelenaJustina · 29/10/2021 11:11

All DC have done lateral flows, 3 negative PCR have negative lateral flows so that’s good. DH is trying to work from home but I think neglecting basic infection control (wiping door handles/frequently touched surfaces/bathrooms a couple of times a day) he is super stressed as his boss is an idiot.
Not yet tempted to bring infected DC in with me in case my increased viral load tips them over the edge into poorly. Will see what their lateral flow says. Lots of tears about missing things, ASD DC1 could not be angrier with me.

Silkie - No they only had afternoon slots left (school holidays) but I have marked a Friday morning next month.

Do the things you can't eat / can eat have anything in common?

DD is cleaning the shower cubicle and tray.

Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 12:05

Last week I could not tolerate any food or drink, now I can tolerate elderflower cordial to drink (basically water and sugar), not a drink with milk or acidic or hot. Food I can tolerate boiled veg, grilled veg, boiled or roast potatoes, plain non fatty meat, tomato ketchup and haribos and plain fish like salmon and plain baguette, onion if not fried or pickled. Probably healthy but very dull. Normally I have lots of dairy and sauces and its strange to not have either. We thought wine sauce might be ok but nope which is a shame as it was lovely.

Report
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/10/2021 12:30

Well, you can do some nice things with that food list but there is no pattern. Nothing to hold on to. Shame about the wine sauce!

We are lucky that DS school is still on green (f2f and still no covid cases), another semester of disrupted schooling would be very inconvenient for him (AS, too). They have recommended preparatory measures for him after schooling and I am looking into that.

Report
Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 12:41

I think its no dairy, nothing acidic, and nothing fatty, no sauces unless ketchup but its not always predictable so I tend to repeat the safe foods.

Dh is napping, Silkiecat has given her first warning.

Report
Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 12:44

My ASD DS is convinced only females get covid, which has probably been reinforced by him avoiding it and dh being negative.

Report
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/10/2021 12:47

He'd better wake up then to be prepared and swift to obey orders Smile. Did you really dismantle Silkiecats shelf?

DD and I will get something simple from our local Asia Bistro as DH is out with a friend / work mate.

I am happy to say the shower is as clean as a 20 year old shower can be.

Hope you had a nice lunch Prok I so want Chinese again.

Silkiecats shelf is part of the stairs so still here at the moment but DH and the carpenter plan to get rid of it with their new stair design though we need planning, building control and listed buildings approval so maybe a year or so yet.

Currently Silkiecat has abandoned shelves in favour of cardboard boxes. She is calling dh and he is ignoring her though she is eating a lot so she may fall asleep.

Silkie
It was simple but quite nice and - drum roll - we have accidentally found another type of food DS can and will eat. Yay!

Report
Silkieschickens · 29/10/2021 15:15

Wow, that is amazing Prok It's only about once a year we get DS to add a food and its normally quite similar to another food he eats already. Last year on a day out he ate Thai Red curry and we were Shock as he normally doesn't do mixed or sauces though Chinese / Thai / Indian is easier than British food as it is sweeter. When we were in Australia he tried beef stew but the lady had two tree kangaroos in her house so he was distracted.

Yes, and with him (and DD ..........well, and me) it is usually because of the texture. I remember my DM ruining my food by putting sauce on mashed potatoes. Just no! At least he likes raw carrots and cucumbers for the vitamines.

Well done on the new food for DS, Prok. My daughter was always an incredibly picky eater, but attending university seems to have cured that.

I had a breakfast meeting out of the office this morning and the place was right on the Hudson River, so I took a few photos.
