Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread. Smile

Welcome, @GoingOutOutNEVER, and thanks for sharing your immunization and noshing news.

The days are getting shorter here too. I was out running a bit earlier than usual this morning and saw the stunning way the full moon (92% full, actually) lit up the clouds.

Math, NOAA has just released their early winter forecast if you want a peek at what to expect in your part of the midwest.

NOAA's Early Look at the Winter Forecast

I'm off to go to the warehouse club, and possibly Uncle Guiseppe's as well.

We had a lovely moon this morning, too - in a blue sky.
I am back at work on Monday and will try to walk half the way every morning to clear my head.

DD finally managed to get her schedule together - a soft semester: only two modules and a preparatory seminar for her thesis.
DS - oh well...

Silkieschickens · 23/10/2021 14:08

Thanks lovely, kind people of the thread for asking about me. I am about the same but did get a bit of sleep, still not really able to eat anything without it making me ill, can drink fine. Saw another page on hospital system and it says covid then long covid and viral gastroenterisis and for bloods says one flagged is the inflamation one.

In the middle of the night I heard a noise like a box falling from height and I thought Hmm who is that, rabbit no he is more feisty in his noises and tends to play fight and eat boxes, ds clumsy enough but cant here him going to kitchen ruled out, Silkiecat sleeping over the end of her box on the table and her and box falling off, yes. Then told DH as he was awake and he went down and confirmed Silkiecat and box fallen from dining table to floor with Silkiecat looking distressed by empty dining room food bowl and too lazy to walk to kitchen food bowl. Dh filled up food bowl put box back Silkiecat happy but decided box is too high risk so has relocated to another box.

Your two sound similar to mine Prok in male, female split.

Happy anniversary Helena Have a lovely trip out MissC Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

Dd has gone out for day with friends, she has gcse mocks after half term, her first official mocks at new school for 2 weeks. Ds did a 5 mile of so school walk yesterday so he is just resting with rabbit on the sofa eating sausage rolls. Dh has been busy being nurse and cat and carboard box rescuer. He was glad I was awake when dd was just leaving saying she was going out for the day and taking dhs bank card and could she spend an unlimited amount. Grin I did wake DH up for that though he was grateful, bank balance has already seen a new boiler and car service this month.

MissConductUS · 23/10/2021 16:39

Silkie, I'm glad you got some sleep. Can you get some liquid meals? Alternatively, see if you can take some instant breakfast powder mixed with milk. You need to take in some calories. Does your DD typically take your husband's debit card? I got my kids bank accounts when they turned 15.

I did wind up going to Uncle G's, as I really fancied a few things from their bakery. I got some more cider donuts and raisin scones. I've put most of them in the freezer.

The picture is from my deck. We are at or near peak color.

It's been raining on and off this morning, but is supposed to clear up soon so we should be able to cook on the grill tonight.

Beautiful picture MissC hope you have a nice meal.

DD used to take my card instead but I put a stop to that when she started taking more than agreed and it wasn't clear what money was going on. So she persuaded DH to have his and same pattern again. We will get her own bank account but she says that will be extra money. DS says he will save £20,000 once he starts work for when his sister is older and in debt. He is super careful. I still buy all her clothes and things, originally she just used to buy things at supermarket so food, drinks etc which was fine then hair dye got added then food for her friends who don't have money which is fine but then it got increased again and unclear to what. It was about £10 a day when it was from me and then clothes were extra maybe £200 a month but she got DH to give her more at the weekends.

I can't tolerate most liquids either though have always drank elderflower cordial as it has some calories in it with the sugar. The drip was amazing and that seemed to have salt in as well so I try to eat something with salt in now. Today I have eaten two pieces of toast with jam and some roast potatoes, gravy, and long broccoli and am experimenting with eating. I at least have many lockdown calories left to burn.

Hello lovely thread people, sorry I have been absent so long, life has been getting in the way!
My parents said have finally put their house on the market after talking about it for nearly 10 years, and things are moving very quickly! In the space of 8 days they’ll have had about 14 viewings, and offers above the asking price, so it’s going to best & final offers on Monday. Now they need to find somewhere to buy! It’ll be weird and sad, as we moved into that house when I was only 5, but it’s also exciting in a way…

Sunbird24 · 23/10/2021 22:56

Glad you’re starting to feel better silkie, sounds like you’ve had a rough time of it Flowers

MissConductUS · 23/10/2021 23:27

Welcome back, @Sunbird24, and thanks for sharing your news. It's lovely to see you again. Smile I think we'll be selling the house I grew up in sometime in the next few years.

It was a lovely day here and we've just had burgers, mac and cheese, and salad. DH is now doing the dishes while I'm on MN. Grin

We went out again to the Farmer's Market in the morning. Today was the second last market of the season. Bought doughnuts, apricot croissant, and pains au chocolat. We'll miss the goodies when the market season is over. DD3 suggested I bake something nice on Saturday mornings instead. We haven't had a clafoutis for a while so I might do that.

DS got his booster shot yesterday and had a rough night and early morning, but by noon he was feeling well again. He's off celebrating a friend's birthday.

The license plates for my new car (new to me anyway) arrived in the post. I need to take off the temporary plates and attach the new ones. I was sort of hoping DS would do that chore but that didn't pan out. If I leave it to tomorrow I'll be rained on unless I get it done early. Thank you for the NOAA link, MissC.

Happy anniversary Helena.

Nice to see you're getting some rest at least, Silkie.

Silkieschickens · 24/10/2021 02:32

Welcome back Sunbird and thank you. Lovely to have you back.

Thanks Math Clafoutis is lovely, my French MIL makes that and its so nice. DH makes it sometimes as well.

Silkieschickens · 24/10/2021 06:17

Silkiecat has woken up and is calling DH. She woke up rabbit who is now cardboard box bashing with his paws and mouth very loudly. Dh is trying to sleep.

Lemonsandlemonade · 24/10/2021 07:42

Sat watching Match of the Day with DS trying to convert him early to football as my dad would have wanted. Takes me back to sitting on my dads knee watching football.

@Silkieschickens how are you feeling?

@Sunbird24 welcome back.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2021 11:13

Good morning, lovely sunny but chilly day here. The wind has died down.

I have inspected my box of fabrics and found 3 tablecloths embroidered by my and DH's grannies. I have no use for them but cannot get rid.

silkie I did the placement test for Duolingo French and made it to checkpoint 3 (I am the tiniest bit excited about this - but nobody in my family cares.) Should I continue?

Silkieschickens · 24/10/2021 12:58

Well done Prok of course you should continue as you are amazing at languages and I think you enjoy it too.

Thanks Lemons Hope you enjoyed match of the day. Still not great but got some sleep at least.

DH is making a roast dinner, I will have roast potatoes, veg and gravy again as I was OK with that yesterday and it tastes nice. Dh is playing piano.

Silkiecat is back on the box I bought even if it fell off the table it is better than DHs boxes as it molds to the cats shape.

hazelnutpraline · 24/10/2021 13:00

I tried to make some Palmiers (crunchy pastry biscuit things) and they’re nice but I think I cut them slightly too thick

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2021 13:24

Silkie Thank you for the 'pat on the back' Blush. I will add French then. Great that you can eat again!!
DD tried to film the silkies at the zoo for your DS (a beautiful cockerel and 5 lovely hens), but they did not cooperate. BUT - she has managed to take a picture of the anteater. I love anteaters.

Nydj · 24/10/2021 15:23

Aw, that’s really sweet of your DD, Prok - how is she doing in general? She was struggling a bit a week or two ago, wasn’t she?
It’s a lovely day here and I have been for a longer than usual walk. I feel ready for a nap now.

StartingAgain6369 · 24/10/2021 15:39

Quick update

Ducks have had clean water in the paddling pool and fresh bedding in their house, they seem quite content watching and making sure daddy was doing it all correctly. They have now gone for a waddle down the drive

Been to see yummy mummy #1 in the next village and assemble her DS basketball base and frame

Off for a long walk with friends in a bit

MissConductUS · 24/10/2021 15:51

Welcome, @hazelnutpraline, and thanks for sharing your baking news. I had to google Palmiers. They look like a lot of work.

I'm back from church. I was a bit late and they had run out of bulletins, so I had to wing it. I'm now doing a bit of food prep for the week.

@StartingAgain6369, how many yummy mummies do you know and how did you get roped into setting up her basketball gear?

OP posts:
Silkieschickens · 24/10/2021 15:59

That's really kind of your DD Prok

Just had roast potatoes, brocolli and carrots with gravy like yesterday and now just testing some sweets. I am worried about DS though, he said no to the rest of the sweets. This never happens. DH is eating them.

I will likely get demoted on Duolingo but not been well enough to keep it up but will start again next week. I heard something in Russian on the TV and was very happy could understand a few of the words.

Now going for a big sleep.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2021 16:01

Nydj Kind of you to ask Smile She has an appointment with an ADD specialist for adults in a fourtnight . She is willing to try medication.

Naps (Nickerchen) are always a good idea.

We have no cake!

StartingAgain6369 · 24/10/2021 16:02

@MissConductUS only the one, the back story is extremely complex, but we've recently had a major fallout a month ago and haven't spoken since

Yesterday I turned up at her work with various chocolate and hot tomato salsa (don't ask) and said I was sorry

Anyway this morning I got a text asking if she could borrow a spanner but I ended up putting it all together for her

Nydj · 24/10/2021 17:39

Well that doesn’t sound dull and uninteresting at all @StartingAgain6369. Compared to my very dull and uninteresting life, it’s all positively intriguing!

Silkie, I’m pleased to see that you are able to eat and keep more food down. Your DH has done a Sterling job with all the nursing.

Prok that sound very positive for your DD - I hope she is able to get any support that she may need.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2021 19:43

I wanted to take the garbage down - DH said no he'd do it because he needed a walk. So I put the garbage together at the door for him to take down. Guess who did not go for a walk?

HelenaJustina · 24/10/2021 20:11

We went for a lovely long dog walk with friends, their/our dogs and DC after Mass. DH peeled off part way to go to the train station where picked up a friend who is over from Germany for work. We haven’t seen this friend since Sep ‘19 so it was great to catch up but this was all arranged v last minute. I stretched the veggie chilli I had planned for lunch by adding more veg and more sides.

He and DH went up to the ponies this afternoon so I also got the kitchen cleaned, ironing done and 4/6 beds changed. Productive and social today!
