Positive DC still symptom free. But 1/3 positive people will be and the younger they are the more likely, plus she is vaccinated. So really hoping she stays that way.

I have had disrupted sleep Silkie didn’t realise that was a Covid thing. Will hang in there for taste and smell - woke up on Friday morning and it was like both had been switched off overnight. I’ve had heavy colds in years past where taste and smell have been affected, so thought I knew what it would be like. I absolutely did not!

Nothing too serious yesterday, and thanks for asking miss and silkie. I didn’t mean to sound like those annoying attention seeking posts on Facebook where people have to respond with “aaw you ok hun?”! Car wasn’t working so we couldn’t go out to see family that we had been looking forward to see for a while and had to make dinner instead of having dinner with aforementioned people. I was just being grumpy.

Its 5.30am here and Silkiecat just woke DH as she needed her tuna mashing. She has trouble eating big bits.

Nydj Hope things go more to plan today for you.

The Chinese adoption film on Netflix is about 4 Chinese girls mainly, 3 who are cousins and in American families and 1 in Israel. The 3 American ones go back to China to try and find their birth parents. Its sad as you see their families were forced to give them up as they were too poor to pay the 8,500 fee to keep them but wanted to keep them so they got dumped then into orphanages then adopted by wealthy foreigners who appeared to love them and give them a very good life but a very different one. I watched a similar programme a few years ago. It was almost always the girls who were abandoned.

I managed to sleep through to now only waking a few times so sleep is much better. Can eat a normal number of calories again with plain drinks and plain food. Never took the antibiotics but not convinced there is anything bacterial.

Thanks for starting new thread MissC

Thanks, Helena, I really like the colors too. To give credit where it is due, it was DH who washed the rugs, put them out, and texted me the photo while I was out shopping. I probably would not have included the cat, but with the mirrors, it is an interesting effect.

I'm so glad that you and Silkie are feeling better. Thank goodness you both had the vaccine and were able to recover at home. This is not a good time to be in hospital.

People talk about John Lewis all of the time on MN. I wish we had them here, they sound fabulous. I've just checked the Lands End UK website and was disappointed that they don't carry towels, bedding, linens, etc. as they do here. The towels are really lovely soft cotton.

@Nydj, what's gone wrong today? Nothing serious I hope.

We have a new thread, but please let's close out this one. I'm sure I can count on the Sunday morning crew to do so. Smile

@Silkieschickens, was the adoption show the one about the twin chinese girls adopted in Norway and USA? I found it really moving when I saw it a few years ago.
Things have not gone to plan today - hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better.

Our clocks don't go back until next Sunday, the 7th. I recall that last fall we had the same four hour difference between NY and London instead of five hours.

The rain has abated, so we can have burgers on the grill with pasta salad.

I think my no taste and smell was about a week to come back and it comes back in stages. I found blowing my nose a lot helped bring hints of smell / taste back and I could taste mango / mango yoghurt first. The vaccines seemed to have helped with that, the really long times seem all pre vaccine.

Some kids at our school have had no real symptoms or just loss of smell so hopefully your DC won't get anything - my DD was about 8 days in bed with it, very unlike her, and like a flu and lots of her friends were the same but seems to vary a lot, the younger the child seems to help. I think the pcr can pick up 1 day before symptoms start.

Had forgotten clocks go back. DH has made the desk and about to have dinner, steak got changed to fish fingers for speed. DH said rabbit was very keen to help with deskbuilding and he had to distract him by throwing him some cardboard.

Rest of the household still testing negative on lateral flows including the DC who had a positive PCR. They are still isolating, I’m slightly concerned the PCR caught it super early and that symptoms will develop, don’t really want to spread it by being careless at this point.

I’m feeling lots better, just like I’ve got a cold now. Snotty and a bit sinus-y. Zero taste or smell though. Anyone know when that comes back?

Love the towels and mats Miss gorgeous colour. We need new towels in our en-suite, I’ll have a browse online at John Lewis tomorrow.

Didn’t realise your clocks went back tonight as well Prok I’m usually in charge of this in our house so we shall see what happens this season…

Sounds like you were very efficient today Prok

How are you all Helena?

Silkiecat has told DH off for being with rabbit. Very selfish.

DS has a pumpkin to carve later. Had smoked salmon ploughmans for lunch with garden salad and pickled onions and will have steak, peas and new potatoes for dinner.

Nice bath mats MissC I looked at the photo and thought you have 2 ginger cats then no 4 ginger cats Shock but I think maybe you have a lot of mirrors and 1 ginger cat. Grin

Silkiecat is scared of things like bath mats and anything fluffy, she is not the bravest of creatures and acts like they could be sleeping animals which could attack her if woken by treading on them.

DH cut his head this morning, think he hit a beam on the ceiling and he has a lot of blood on his head now. Its a good Halloween look at least but he needed to rest a lot after it.

He is now making a desk for DS which I bought from IKEA, rabbit is very excited by this and I keep hearing DH laughing and saying rabbit so I think he has a little fluffy helper. DS has been drawing on his whiteboard I got but needs a desk, the idea is to study at but not sure that will happen. It has a swivel chair which hopeful will tempt him, its got rabbit interested at least.

I see - we do not have a freezer just a small 3* drawer for emergency teenage pizza.

And your bathroom looks lovely.

Prok, a lot of the frozen foods were things like the chips that DD likes, and she hasn't been here since January, so they are likely freezer burned by now. Bread only lasts for a few months in the freezer. None of it will be expensive to replace.

I am keeping an eye on the thread and will probably start a new one before I go to bed tonight.

Oh and Miss we need a new thread probably tonight.

Tonight the clocks will go back 1 hour, I must remember to turn the heating timer back.

The new bathroom rugs have been washed and set out. They are a good match for the towels and paint but look a bit darker where the fibers are fluffed up from not having been walked on. Overall, I'm pleased, especially since I had a 40% coupon for Lands End. And they are cat approved. Smile

The golds and reds are really starting to come out in the foliage.

It's a bit rainy here. I think DH is going to clean out the big freezer in the garage. There's a lot of food in there (like frozen chips, for example, and old bread) that should just be binned.

DS has made a list on how to operate the new washing machine - not only the amount of washing powder and water-softener but also how far exactly to open the water supply.

I have finished cleaning the kitchen, bathroom is next and then end of the month accounts and Duo has already started to sent threatening e-mails.

I had duck with pancakes from Chinese last night, was lovely to have something different.

Having baguette and strawberry jam for breakfast and been watching Netflix Found about the Chinese girls adopted at birth.

DD is at her sleepover. DH has got my cough and is sleeping still. DS is just pottering around.

Already have DHs Christmas present, DD normally chooses herself now she is older or gets cash, have an idea for DS but need to check it.

Did some more Duolingo.

I wouldn't get much accomplished on a morning meeting with views like that, MissC.

It poured rain all day here. I assembled a pasta bake, basically putting ziti and Italian sausage sauce which DS made yesterday into a pyrex dish, adding some red wine, and some grated cheese on top, and bunging it all into the oven for half an hour. DD4 made another Victoria sponge two days ago and I ate the last slice after dinner.

Hallowe'en weather is supposed to be cool but dry. DD3 and I went out on a candy hunt after I picked her up from the train and found it was all already on sale.

Christmas ads have already appeared on TV. I need to get cracking on figuring out what to get everyone.

Miss What beautiful views!

DS opted out of eating at school. He decided it was a waste of money as he eats very slowly and could never finish his food.

That is beautiful MissC

DD has got a 2 night sleepover and Halloween parties so she is coming back here to get clothes then DH will drive her there, they are having pizza tonight so she will be very happy. Not sure when mock preparation is happening but sounds fun.

DS eats school dinners though hates menu changes without warning, he used to stage sit down protests if the menu ever changed without warning. He loves broccoli and peas as well as industrial quantities of fruit. We once went to a buffet where they had raw brocolli and he took a whole plate full of it, had no idea he would eat it raw but munched his way through it.
