@Nydj thanks for your kind comments, I don't think Mumsnet servers would cope if I went into detail

Met some friends and been out for a walk this evening, when I was walking I felt something brush against the side of my leg, we was in a section which wasn't lit
Stopped turned around and put the torch on my phone and there was a hedgehog in the middle of the path, he had rolled into a ball, tried to pick him up but was too spikey so I took my jacket off and used it to protect my hands and carried him into the bushes. Was worried he would get stood on or run over by a bike

sproutsandparsnips · 24/10/2021 22:36

Just catching up again, was lovely to see the news.
Silkie sorry to read you are unwell - hope things continue to get a little better.
Hope your DS is better Lemons.
Love the photos MissConductUS.
In maybe slightly too exciting news I have passed the exam I had to resit and got a new job on the back of it. Now to negotiate the start date before Christmas as my old boss is also my new boss.
Both DSs had (very wet) rugby games this morning. I battled with installing and trying to navigate Endnote this afternoon and then went to evening prayer. DH cooked meatballs and I ironed many clothes.

The spanner was an olive branch in disguise, it seems, Starting. It's all very intriguing.

It's raining cats and dogs here. My mind always turns to dumplings and apple crumble when the weather turns wet and chilly, so I'm going to make a chicken stew with dumplings, and an apple crumble. DD3 found a container of heavy cream at the back of the fridge yesterday while looking for the Sriracha sauce which has apparently disappeared from the face of the earth. We'll have whipped cream for the crumble.

StartingAgain6369 · 24/10/2021 22:58

@mathanxiety I really hope you are right

MissConductUS · 25/10/2021 15:10

Math, your Sunday diner sounds fabulous. When I find cream at the back of the fridge I usually have to chuck it as it's out of date.

I had my annual full body exam with the dermatologist this morning. It was actually with his PA as he's very hard to book appointments with. She was lovely and seemed very competent, so I think I'll stick with her from now on. I had a skin cancer removed in 2020 so I do need to stay on top of it. She found a small irregularity on my right cheek that she said could be precancerous, so she froze it with liquid nitrogen. I now have a bump the size of a penny on my face that's turning red and I have to go back in January for her to have another look.

What a lovely way to start the week. It's also cold and rainy here.

Hope the bump soon disappears Miss
I've had a rare afternoon to myself ( Dd1 on annual leave so no grandchild minding). So I went for a walk over the tops, certainly blew the cobwebs away.

Lovely pictures, Iwandered. You live in a beautiful area.

I think it will be a few days for the bump to do down, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear the skin check found an issue MissC but good they caught it.

Congrats on passing your exam and new job Sprouts

Hope your DDs appointment goes well Prok

Lovely autumny pics Iwandered

I am starting to catch up on sleep and now had first day of eating normal amount and so far so good though just added a BigMac and hope I havent pushed my luck. Dd is on her 3rd day socialising. DH asked DS if he wanted a McDonalds and he said DS didnt react much but rabbit got very excited, rabbit obviously is not allowed McDonalds but tries to mug anyone with one.

Gingerwarthog · 25/10/2021 21:09

Some lovely pictures posted.
Went for my booster Covid jab yesterday which was held in a hospitality tent. There were bottles of wine and spirits in the bar areas and I wondered if we'd all get a brandy afterwards. Sadly not.
Made a Victoria sponge with buttercream icing and apricot jam.
Visited my parents and they showed me the new church bells in their tiny 13th century village church. The villagers raised the money for the bells to be replaced and a lovely man who lost his wife to cancer last year had her name carved on to one of them.

HelenaJustina · 25/10/2021 21:11

So glad you are finally recovering Silkie

Good start to the half term here, nothing exciting to report, just time spent with family (and DC1s orthodontist!)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/10/2021 21:11

Miss Good to have caught things early!
Iwandered Lovely place and great fotos.
Silkie good - you are eating again!

DD's says she only wants to feel slightly normal / NT. She is on her way to all kinds of stress related problems and I'll not have her fopped off. She is already doing all the things ADD coaches recommend (food, sleep, relaxation, sport etc.) and it does not work.

Sunbird24 · 25/10/2021 21:22

Good to hear it sounds like you’re being looked after properly Miss, hope the bump heals nicely!

My parents have accepted an offer 1/12th above the asking price, so now they need to find their new house fairly swiftish!

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/10/2021 21:39

Sounds like you’re being well cared for @MissConductUS

Went to DM stayed a lot later than planned.

DS miles better.

DB has decided on a career change and is now looking into retaining in my field. He had to prepare something for interview and wants to run his idea past me but from what he had eluded to I am not sure I like the idea and I think it misses the mark a bit.

Looking at going back to work in January.

@Gingerwarthog that’s so lovely re church bells.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 25/10/2021 22:05

This isn't really dull but it did make me smile. There's a small mountain near me that has lovely fall foliage right now. Someone I know hiked up it yesterday to see the colours, and discovered another hiker with a sheep on a lead (and two corgis) at the summit.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 18: Calmly through the day
Sunbird24 · 25/10/2021 22:09

I love that @ZZTopGuitarSolo!

I have a hole in the bottom of my sock and if I wiggle my toes right I can stick my little toe through it Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/10/2021 22:40

sunbird Eeek - how heroic - when that happens to me I have to remove the sock because it gives me a creepy feeling Grin

Silkieschickens · 26/10/2021 02:38

Lovely photo ZZ I showed it to DH who loves sheep and he started singing baa baa black sheep but needed help with the words.

BigMac experiement failed badly which is a shame as I like them, suspect the cheese.

mathanxiety · 26/10/2021 03:08

Gingerwarthog - those bells will be a wonderful testament to community spirit and hopefully a comfort to the bereaved husband.

I had to slosh my way out to the garden gate this morning through about three inches of rainwater after last night's non-stop rain. It's all soaked in now. At least it wasn't snow.

HelenaJustina · 26/10/2021 11:15

Feeling productive today, DC2 has physio 30 mins away at 9am, we treated ourselves to a coffee/hit chocolate break on the way back (one to one time is precious!), I’ve cleared out the calendar in the kitchen and a cupboard which was irritating me. Second load of laundry is in the machine. Off to tackle bathrooms. We are meeting friends for a walk after lunch then they are coming here and I’ll do tea for all 6 DC. Need to keep the momentum going!

Silkieschickens · 26/10/2021 13:54

Hope you have a nice day Helena

I am not being productive at all, was ill again all last night and this morning though trying to keep eating normally but more carefully. DD is preparing for mocks, DS is doing Hobbycraft things I bought. I did e mail the planning department as I need to get planning and listed buildings consent plus building regs before can put new stairs in and put a bedroom back and they phoned back to give appointment time. DH had to take call as I was coughing and they asked if I was OK. The cough is the better part. Did manage to sleep at least.

MissConductUS · 26/10/2021 14:19

math, we're having the same storm today and it's raining buckets here. I texted DS to remind him not to park the car under trees in case they get blown over.

Helena, that sounds like a lovely outing with your DC. Neither of mine are coffee drinkers but DS does like iced tea with a splash of lemonade.

The spot on my face is still red but I cba to cover it up.

OP posts:
ZZTopGuitarSolo · 26/10/2021 16:53

It's pouring here too, and I don't think the storm proper has arrived yet. I'm well and truly hunkered down.

We just got an email from the car insurance company to say that DD has been deemed not at fault for an accident this summer, so we're getting $500 back and our premium should go back down.

Also DS's car needs a new clutch, so there goes the $500...

IWanderedLonely · 26/10/2021 17:23

Loving the sheep on the lead Smile
Need to put a load of washing on and one of the lightbulbs in our bedroom needs replacing and has done for the past 2 weeks

Silkieschickens · 26/10/2021 17:49

DH and DD are going shopping. I told DH that DD wants a new hairdrier, DH said she shouldnt need one as old one is 2 years old. I explained she says it makes a burning smell and we live in a thatched cottage, he was persuaded. Hopefully get my laptop mended as well. And she may get school skirts. Plus am sure she will have 2000 other items she needs.

Silkieschickens · 26/10/2021 17:52

Dh has bought some new soap for the bathroom giant size and its smells like cheap mens aftershave.
