@Alk19 ok thank you, doing that right now. Thank you so much, really appreciate it. I remember calling them at one point and the advisor on the phone telling me that the Decision Makers aren’t given a timeframe or deadlines to which they have to meet and you could easily be waiting even up to 6 months or more depending on your circumstances. x

3Hearts1Beat · 28/10/2021 12:01

@Alk19 if you don’t mind me asking, have you ever claimed for DLA and if so what was your experience or how long did it take in all for you to get a decision? x

Alk19 · 28/10/2021 12:35

@3Hearts1Beat I currently get mrc from dla my some is 2 mine took just under 8 weeks I was awarded back in august they backdated it to may which is what I'm trying to get from UC but there's no rush with Uc x

3Hearts1Beat · 28/10/2021 13:03

@Alk19 you’re lucky, just under 8 weeks is really good as they’re currently taking between 9-10 weeks. The waiting is just the worst. Thank you. x

Hey everyone, I just thought i'd leave some positive news for everyone waiting for their outcome. My son is 5 years old, has a undiagnosed condition where his blood sugar drop daily, he takes medication and needs his sugars monitored every 2 hours day through to night. My application was registered on the DLA system on the 12th August, yesterday he was awarded high care rate and low mobility. I am in complete shock as i didn't expect to be awarded any mobility nor the high rate. They didn't contact any references i put down (phone numbers for the school, hospital, GP), the only evidence supplied was discharge summaries from the times he's been admitted to hospital as we was waiting on his referral to a specialist. I hope this gives other people hope on their application!

Boof23 · 28/10/2021 14:47

Hi guys is a case manager a decision maker? Ours is with a case manager.

LovingLanz5 · 28/10/2021 14:52

@RJCMX
Thats brilliant news. Good to know you didn't have much evidence as i only submitted the discharge papers and diagnosis letter , with all the tests. Results, scans and surgeries she has had. So glad you got the news you deserve.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 29/10/2021 17:46

I rang today, apparently new claims can take anywhere up to 15 weeks at the moment. My claim, scanned on 3/9/21 is still with the new claim team, and has yet to be passed to a decision maker.

Nic247 · 31/10/2021 13:53

@Alk19 have you had any luck yet? I finally got a letter on my journal today saying decision maker has accepted my reason for late reporting, but no mention of back pay yet

Alk19 · 31/10/2021 15:51

@Nic247 nope still nothing I don't know how they can get away with this making me wait so long it's dreadful :(

3Hearts1Beat · 31/10/2021 17:47

@Boof23 Hi, a Case Manager isn’t a Decision Maker but is above a Decision Maker and can most definitely override any kind of decisions made by a Decision Maker.

LKKT · 31/10/2021 20:09

What do they class at telling them late? I haven’t applied for careers allowance yet as it says to be in receipt of dla before you do and haven’t put anything on my journal. I’m waiting to hear back from dla before I tell them anything. Is that right or should I be saying something now? X

Alk19 · 31/10/2021 20:26

@LKKT within a month of getting your decision you have to tell them x

Nic247 · 31/10/2021 20:47

@LKKT it's silly because they expect you to update them within a month of claiming, but then you can't because it takes so long for the claim to go through they will only let you change once its gone through. But of course you need to put the date the dla starts from, so then a decision maker has to look at your claim

Princess23 · 31/10/2021 22:52

Hi is anyone waiting on a mandatory reconsideration please and know the time scale x

Pseudonymforme · 01/11/2021 08:36

Can anyone advise on a change in circumstances form?

My child currently gets middle.rate care

Now they are 5 we want to apply for mobility as well and also I feel their care needs in the night an day have changed as in gotten worse and we should possibly be getting higher rate care now.

But I'm scared that for some reason we will get bumped down to lower rate care even though logically I can't see how they would do that as it's obvious we should be on at least middle rate

I know DLA count night time as when the household is in bed so say 11-7. During this time my child will get out of bed and wander around the landing and try to sleep curled up on the top of the stairs literally on the top step so we have to carry them back to bed and sit with them until they are asleep

They also need lots of sensory feedback in rhe night so will wake up and need to push against us to get resistance and we can't sleep while this is happening

They also have sleep apnoea so we have to wake regularly to change their position while they are sleeping so they can breathe easier. The lung team are also debating a CPAP machine.

One of us will generally sleep in their room to allow for this care

Any advice? Thanks

Boof23 · 01/11/2021 09:13

@3hearts1beat do you know what reasons it goes to a case manager. I sent quite abit if evidence from various health professionals.

Kyra08 · 01/11/2021 11:14

Anyone waiting on a renewal . 14 weeks now my sons claim ends next week 🥺 apparently with a case manager . What’s the difference between that and a decision maker ?

3Hearts1Beat · 01/11/2021 17:35

@Boof23 it could be referred to a Case Manager for various reasons really so it’s hard to say however, I have been told that the majority of the time when cases do get referred to Case Managers it’s usually because the Decision Maker may be in doubt about something and would therefore probably request for a second opinion or it could also possibly be that the information that has been provided within the claim may need to be reviewed again by someone of higher authority, hence the Case Manager’s intervention at that point, but again it’s really difficult to say.

Jneill2021 · 02/11/2021 12:42

Anyone had any positive news lately? X

Ltb17 · 02/11/2021 13:30

My son was awarded 2 weeks ago high rate care. Today we received a letter asking us to apply for mobility. I'm so confused because I thought it was all done together or is this normal?

Jneill2021 · 02/11/2021 13:34

@Ltb17 that is weird it is all together if you filled out the mobility part in your claim, the only reason they usually say about mobility is If your child is just about to turn 5 x

Ltb17 · 02/11/2021 13:37

@Jneill2021 he is due to turn 5 in February so maybe that's why

Tfutcher · 02/11/2021 14:08

@Princess23

Hi is anyone waiting on a mandatory reconsideration please and know the time scale x
Hi, I just had my mandatory reconsideration back. It was signed for 22nd sept. Just been awarded high rate care low mobility, which is amazing. How do you let universal credit know as can’t find it anywhere, not claiming for caring as already have other son on dla
Alk19 · 02/11/2021 14:08

@Jneill2021 @Ltb17
When I received my claim they told me when my child turns 3 to apply for mobility I'm so confused now he was awarded mrc back in august he's only 2 x
