Hi the first thread ended because when it reaches a 1000 comments it will close I thought I would set this up so everyone can talk again

OP posts:

I called to check what rate he was awarded so I could notify universal credit. He was awarded high rate care. So glad the wait is over now! Good luck to everyone still waiting x

Alk19 · 21/10/2021 15:43

@Ltb17 aww well done glad you've been awarded!
Universal credit take the mick so be warned I'm still waiting on back payment and my son was awarded in august x

Ltb17 · 21/10/2021 15:53

@Alk19 thank you and yeah I already don't feel too optimistic lol I called them and the guy I spoke to said I don't think we can backdate it, never heard of it happening before apparently haha
I put a note on my journal and someone else got back to me and confirmed it can be done they just need to wait for dla to update their system to show he's been awarded as the decision was literally only made today. So then I guess the wait begins

Jneill2021 · 21/10/2021 17:01

@Ltb17 hi I'm just wondering what evidence you sent as our children seem to have the same diagnoses asd gdd also my son has monitoring for adhd, if you don't mind me asking x

Ltb17 · 21/10/2021 17:17

@Jneill2021hi, no I don't mind at all. I originally sent a letter from his nursery teacher, his score sheets from his age review assessments done by health visitor and that's it because I still hadn't received report from paediatrician yet. I only sent that in last week because that's when I received it. So I'm unsure if that made any difference or not. I honestly thought he would have been refused because of lack of evidence I never imagined he would be awarded high rate. Also after speaking with his school today they never contacted the school for any information from them either.

Ltb17 · 21/10/2021 17:18

@Jneill2021 his diagnosis at the moment is still only a verbal one. He hasn't actually been seen by the panel yet to have a proper diagnosis.

Jneill2021 · 21/10/2021 17:39

@Ltb17 it's brilliant news for you and your little one the forms are extremely stressful to fill out, I only sent diagnosis report as my little one don't attend nursery due to extreme lashing out during meltdowns, with my daughter they never contacted anyone seems to be if the case worker can be bovered to talk to any one x

mummyof31985 · 21/10/2021 20:58

Hi all I'm still waiting taking 9 weeks for me I keep asking if they need anymore information and they've said they don't I hope that's a good thing sitting around second guessing myself .

Mummy2boys1520 · 22/10/2021 09:30

@Alk19 mines with the checking team now so just waiting for that. Have you called them this morning to get yours sorted

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 09:32

@Mummy2boys1520 no not yet will ring them shortly and let you know x

Ltb17 · 22/10/2021 09:51

Has anyone applied for carers allowance? If so when it was backdated was the backdate payment deducted from that months universal credit. I've been told today if I claim carers any backdate I receive universal credit will count as income for that assessment period and take it out of my allowance.

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 10:10

@Ltb17 I haven't received it yet but my friend did and they didn't take it all out in one go she set it up with debt management to take so much a month out that's why I was hesitant about applying for it x

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 10:12

@Mummy2boys1520 just spoke with someone they said someone was working on my account whilst I was on the phone because things kept popping up apparently so give it till this afternoon and ring back x

Mummy2boys1520 · 22/10/2021 10:21

@Alk19 hopefully that means soon for you I'm just hoping the checking team doesn't take so long

Ltb17 · 22/10/2021 10:25

@Alk19 ah OK thanks. Yeah I can't decide whether to apply or not. Not sure If it will actually make me better or worse off tbh

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 10:27

@Ltb17 it literally doesn't make a difference it gets took £-£ but with carers you can request it to be weekly carers allowance contributes to national insurance at the highest rate though where as UC doesn't that's the only benefit x

Lrc11 · 22/10/2021 12:18

My daughter was awarded mrc and lrm. So relieved!!! See when people informed UC did you just leave a message on the journal stating the award and when it was awarded from?? I did the change for caring back in August as a change so do I need to do it again?? Thanks

lollipopsandrainbows · 22/10/2021 12:24

I've had my letter today, again a no so I now have to appeal. Mine went in on 2 August and letter is dated 15 October.

Lrc11 · 22/10/2021 12:59

@lollipopsandrainbows that is so shit. Was that a mandatory reconsideration?? What were their reasons??? X

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 13:05

@Mummy2boys1520 still no news it's been sent to a decision maker today as apparently my dla elements wasn't picked up and it was the bedroom tax that was (as I was awarded an extra room) this is so draining x

Mummy2boys1520 · 22/10/2021 13:17

@Alk19 bloody hell I don't know what they are doing that is ridiculous I can't believe how much they have messed up with you

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 13:21

@Mummy2boys1520 there basically sayin in august when I did all my changes it was the bedroom tax that was sent to a decision maker as they told me that would be backdated (that's still with a decision maker)
Today they sent it to the decision maker regarding the disabled and carers element so now it looks like I've only just told them when I didn't I told them in august :( x

Ltb17 · 22/10/2021 13:23

@Lrc11thats brilliant news. Tbh I couldn't find the change on uc so I just phoned the up and done it, was only on the phone about 10 minutes and it was sorted.

Mummy2boys1520 · 22/10/2021 13:28

@Alk19 did you put it on your journal in august because that's your proof that you told them when you did and it's them who have messed up

Alk19 · 22/10/2021 13:31

@Mummy2boys1520
Yeah I did the change and wrote it all down in my journal which they replied it's with a decision maker clearly wasn't I hope it's sorted soon I've got a message saying by 6pm Monday then the woman on phone said they have u too 12 November now x
