Hi received a phone call off the decision maker today didn't ask for more evidence or anything just to say she was looking at my claim today as anyone else had this it's for a mandatory reconsideration seemed a bit strange x

Alk19 · 19/10/2021 22:02

@LKKT they normally backdate it on Uc both my friends got there's backdated however I told them back in august and they still haven't got back to me pain in the arse they are was sent to a decision maker on the 25th august Angry

LKKT · 19/10/2021 23:18

@Alk19 was that just careers allowance? Or the elements too? I have heard mixed reviews on it. Some say they do backdate the elements and others say they don’t. Sounds a lot like the DLA process with the waiting around part. You would think once they see you are awarded DLA they would automatically just back date it.

almightyfroggie · 19/10/2021 23:44

Do you know what else can I apply for? I'm so new to this, bern coping on our own so far never realising that we can get support. 🙈 I started on UC last month and that's about all I know lol x

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 08:05

@almightyfroggie the carers element and disability element on UC
Carers allowance but that gets took £-£ from UC so you don't win or loose with it but carers allowance contributes towards your national insurance and family fund grant x

almightyfroggie · 20/10/2021 09:04

@Alk19 thank you. I work part time within the school hours but often have to take time off for her. My husband works all hours and night shifts so it's all on me pretty much. Are these benefits based on the income? I take it the carers allowance would be better?

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 09:46

@almightyfroggie you probably wouldn't get carers allowance due to your income you have to earn something like under £140 pw to claim that but you should be able get the elements on UC x

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 09:47

@LKKT I've not heard of carers allowance yet but the elements I'm still waiting for from UC also it's a joke my friends took a week and I know someone on here said hers took a couple of days I'm coming up to 10 week and no one responds to my journal x

LKKT · 20/10/2021 10:39

@almightyfroggie @Alk19 is right to qualify for the carers allowance you have to meet the criteria and for the carers element your child must qualify for either the middle or highest rate of care of DLA. That’s what I understand from looking it up so could be wrong. You can use a benefit calculator on the GOV website and that might give you an idea of what you are entitled too. @Alk19 yes that does seem ridiculous. I have you tried phoning them see what’s going on with it. They might of made a mistake on their part along the way. X

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 10:44

@LKKT yes I've rung a few times they told me it would be a ruined straight away and it hasn't they said before my next payment ( that's already been) then the case managers have been told but still no response from them either!:( x

almightyfroggie · 20/10/2021 11:05

@Alk19 thanks a bunch. I'm declaring the change in UC as we speak, but what to put as a start date? The date of the start of DLA or the actual date since I've been caring for her? (Birth)

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 11:24

@almightyfroggie the award date on the dla claim then once you've done the changes (caring and disabled part) then write in your journal saying you want it backdated to the start date of your DLA claim x

Jneill2021 · 20/10/2021 12:52

Hello everyone, just wondering on the time scales on new claims l applied beginning of the year and my son was refused after 2 weeks of sending the claim but now has a diagnosis of asd and gdd and monitoring for adhd he's only 3 x

almightyfroggie · 20/10/2021 12:53

Awesome @Alk19! Thank you. That's all done. Fingers crossed they deal with it soon x

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 12:56

@Jneill2021 looking at 12 weeks x

Jneill2021 · 20/10/2021 13:00

@Alk19 thank you x

Lrc11 · 20/10/2021 13:03

Called again today, still no decision and apparently they are working in a strict time order and they are currently at the end of July apparently. Was gonna argue with Jim that people with claims scanned after me in August had their decision but just didn't have the bloody energy. No more phoning for me!!!!

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 13:04

@Jneill2021 my son was 2 in April he hasn't been officially diagnosed yet but on the autism spectrum delayed developing non verbal pica and I was awarded back in august X

Mummy2boys1520 · 20/10/2021 13:11

@Alk19 after speaking to someone on the phone who was really loved she is now finally escalating it with the dm and said I should here by the end of next week so fingers crossed and she also added it to my journal as well so I'll keep you posted but again she also mentioned about if you have any debt or advances they take that first which I don't but that twice now it's been said

Jneill2021 · 20/10/2021 13:15

@Alk19 They was really good with my son diagnosed 1st appointment luckily due to having 1 of there top pediatricians spare to pop in observe, my daughter also diagnosed 1st appointment but that was around 3 years ago she was 4 at the time, if you don't mind me asking what rate was your son awarded, as my sons significantly worse then my daughter and she recieves Mrc and lrm, I just hate the fact if they refuse you I'm my experience they seem to get back within a couple of weeks x

LKKT · 20/10/2021 13:15

@Alk19 I’m still waiting to hear from DLA mine was revived on the 1st of September. My son is 3 and has not been diagnosed but he has all the above too. I sent a report from his senco at nursery and and the SALTS report but that’s it. Did you send anymore evidence than that? if you don’t mind me asking x

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 13:26

@Mummy2boys1520 I'm on my 3rd escalation now they said they have to do 4 before headquarters start acting on it :( I'm so done with them it's a joke... they've got till 6pm tomorrow to contact me that's the 2nd message someone's put on my journal now they've not responded to me since September x

Jneill2021 · 20/10/2021 13:27

@LKKT I only sent my sons diagnosis report that was 7 pages as I have no other evidence at the moment as waiting on portage and genetics test result, I only sent my daughters diagnosis report and a statment from portage and she was awarded till 2027 but like I said this was around 2/3 years ago now x

Alk19 · 20/10/2021 13:27

@Jneill2021 aww bless he was awarded mrc no mobility until he's 3 which will be in April X

Mummy2boys1520 · 20/10/2021 13:28

@Alk19 I know it's ridiculous I can't believe they still have done it yet
