I'm at 10 weeks and still no news. Think they have just started on August if am honest but the dates are.all screwed up. Some people have heard within 4-6 weeks and others are taking 12+

Boof23 · 16/10/2021 11:49

Thankyou guys, I won't hold out much hope for hearing this week then, he's just been started back on medication but I didn't put that on the form as he was on it then couldn't get it cause of licensing so his paediatrician has found a alternative so now back on it but I don't have a reference number or anything to add the evidence he has also had a hospital admission since I did the forms he was free of hospital admissions for 13 months so I didn't put them in the forms either I don't know whether to ring them and ask if I can attach more evidence but it's so close to the 8 weeks, I sent a paediatrician letter, a salt assessment, dietician letter and a hearing assessment as he has mild hearing loss and it asked about hearing but that's not why i put the forms in, should I wait or ring them?

Ltb17 · 16/10/2021 12:03

@Boof23 I rang Thursday because we had more evidence, definitely ring. The man i spoke to said he was putting a note on my system to say I was sending new evidence in. Send it signed for first class or next day delivery or if you have a fax machine they can give you the number to fax it. And ask them for reference number because whatever evidence you need you need to put reference number on each sheet

Alk19 · 16/10/2021 12:03

@Boof23 you sent more evidence than me and I was awarded but I would send in the more evidence also as long as it has his name date of birth and address on it will automatically get scanned in to his claim that's what I did with my sons paediatric report x

Do DLA notify you when they receive the form? I posted it off 28/09 and it was signed for next day but I haven't heard anything. Didn't know if they let you know if they had the form or not. Thanks

alwaysscared · 17/10/2021 17:13

@doublemix I received a letter about 2 weeks after sending the form to say it had been received

Lrc11 · 18/10/2021 10:06

On hold to see if there's any news yet, anyone heard anything yet?

Ltb17 · 18/10/2021 10:28

@Lrc11 not me, but I think you're ahead of me. Good luck!

Boof23 · 18/10/2021 10:48

Hi does anyone know how long mandatory reconsideration are taking please x

Finknottlesnewt · 18/10/2021 22:31

I am so happy to have found this thread. ! I have just helped my brother and sil with their 'child's' claim for PIP.. he is 20. They were really struggling. Have never been able to leave him even for an evening out. I had no idea how little they knew about his entitlements .

They had the attitude that they needed to support him forever . Eventually 4 years ago my nephews social worker applied for PIP for him. I then e planned that they should claim UC on his behalf as his appointee. DN has autism, OCD, Dyspraxia and Global development delay. This they did.
In March PIP called DN to complete a 'review' . Ignoring the fact that he had an appointee. This is when I got involved. They were beside themselves because his review had determined he wasn't entitled to anything because DN had told them he could do everything independently and was 'fine' ..
I sent his ECP to support RC. They determined from this that he was entitled to the standard rate of care .. the assessors appear not to be able to apply even basic common sense.
On the appeal I pointed out that someone who goes to special school aged 20 - by council provided taxi , to learn to prepare a simple meal.. and to take life lessons about basic budgeting.. qualifies for a little more than 'standard' . Can not be left overnight .. etc.. we heard last week. Enhanced care . Enhanced Mobility.
What a terrible way to treat people.. It has been 7 very stressful months...

But that doesn't begin to compare with the incompetence of the 'Work Caperbility Assessment' for Universal Credit ! That was due in April. Still waiting.. because it's beyond the wit of the DWP to work out that a young man who requires enhanced care and mobility and attends a college funded by the council may not be capable of full time work . Yet wish him to sign a 'commitment' to this end on pain of losing UC... couldn't make it up. !

almightyfroggie · 19/10/2021 10:37

Omg! I've just called them and my dd has been awarded! They made the decision in the 15th and send the backdated payment on the day too. I was so shaky that I dont actually remember what she was awarded 🙈 what a donut! I guess I have to wait for the letter and see.
On what day does the payment come in please? And how long did you wait for the first one?

Lrc11 · 19/10/2021 11:14

@almightyfroggie that's great news!! Did you receive A text or anything?? I'm the 6th and still no news yet. On hold just now, feel sick

almightyfroggie · 19/10/2021 11:18

@Lrc11 thank you. And good luck! I just called them. Didnt get a text nor a letter x

almightyfroggie · 19/10/2021 11:24

Is there anything else I should be applying for now that I got this? I'm clueless and always been managing on our own x

Lrc11 · 19/10/2021 13:48

Still with a decision maker. Bad feeling is rife!!! You should be claiming for carers allowance if you don't work. If you claim tax credits contact them and tell them about the dla and ask it to be backdated to the date the dla has been backdated from. Same if you're on UC xx

LKKT · 19/10/2021 14:51

Once DLA have accepted your claim and your on universal credit what things can you request to be back dated? I know carers allowance can be back dated but what about the carers element and the disabled child element? If you can can get them back dated has anyone been successful in doing that? I’m new to this and not sure how this works thanks.
