My PIP was extended due to the pandemic until October 2022. I know that there is normally an annual review about a year before the expiry. Can anyone tell me please if that is the way things are still being done or if there are huge backlogs slowing down renewals. Also is it still a phone call or are face to face interviews happening? Thank you.

Ive been refused. School has told them they have no concerns and have no special plans in place for him. Even though it was a senco teacher who rang me about his autistic behaviour and referred us to small steps. Hes on the sen register and has special lessons at school replacing other subjects. They are failing him big time. I have no proof of all of this. They are useless

lollipoprainbow · 25/09/2021 09:42

I posted mine off yesterday special delivery ! It cost me £8 but I wasn't taking any chances. Just have to sit and wait now but I don't think I will get it tbh.

Oh no that's awful 😞 sorry to hear, you should appeal, I'm not holding up much hope myself tbh
Hannm123 · 25/09/2021 11:02

@Mumoflewbielew ..defo put in for a mandatory reconsideration..did you just get a Tx or a letter ? That is a joke I’m so sorry for you ..take a deep breath and put in for a mandatory reconsideration..read the reasons why they didn’t give it and reply giving your reasons why you think he should get it ..I know it’s draining but do not give up ..my son was refused then did a M.R and it went straight to high care xx

lollipoprainbow · 25/09/2021 11:05

@Mumoflewbielew I fear this will happen to me also. The senco team aren't great and I don't think they think there's an issue with my daughter because she masks so much at school. At home it's a different matter but of course they only have my word for that !

Nmhx · 25/09/2021 14:26

@Mumoflewbielew I’m so sorry! I know how upsetting that was to receive.
However once you’ve gotten over the shock read through some info and write your letter of disagreement and hopefully you’ll let a better outcome.
This guide was useful for me.

Nmhx · 25/09/2021 14:27

@Hannm123 as if you refused and then given HRC after MR. That’s ridiculous?! What was their reason?

Hannm123 · 25/09/2021 15:02

@Nmhx ..i can’t 100 percent remember now because it was last year but it was for my other little boy , they just said it was age appropriate for him to do these things and I just wrote a paragraph stating how ridiculous the decision was his needs was far greater than another child his age, I think I compared how different he actually was to another child and quoted them that that’s what dla was for because he was needed more care than another average child his age ..they wrote back and awarded him high care x

Nmhx · 25/09/2021 15:28

@Hannm123 they’ve said the exact same about my son and I have more or less told them they’re ridiculous and compared my son to his peers at nursery in the letter I wrote back. I’m hoping for MRC. Your story gives me hope 🤞🏼
