Is anyone else gutted about Shaun Keaveny leaving 6Radio?

I didn't realise he was told to go!? I don't listen all that regularly but I liked him and his show.

Yeah, he let slip in his final speech.

Yes! Hearing him sign off and drop the bombshell it wasn't his decision was really sad. His goodbye to Mary Anne Hobbs was touching too, they always had good chemistry.

I actually shed a tear when he moved from the breakfast show so I've been here before, ha. He was perfect in that slot and thought it was the last time I'd hear him sing Hill Street Blues

Craig Charles is replacing him. I don’t understand why 6 Music would get ride of such a popular presenter. Jeez, Ken Bruce had been on Radio 2 forever and they’re not kicking him off

I'm gutted, he was great to listen to while I work on an afternoon, it doesn't help that I can't stand Craig Charles.

I thought he was just joking when he said he was told he was no longer doing the show, very sad if that's not the case.

That’s my schedule! Ken in the morning, grit my teeth through an hour of Jeremy Vine before the soothing tones of Shaun appear. I’m proper gutted. My days won’t be the same.

I love Craig Charles and found the last week of Shaun very trying “guess what the last thing I’m going to play will be”. Er, no?

I did love him on his breakfast show but wasn't so keen on his afternoon one. I really did love Radcliffe and Macconies afternoon show. But I listened to his leaving show and it did choke me up a bit, especially during his farewell speech at the end when his voice broke a bit(not sure if real, but sounded it). I missed where he said he was told to go :( I really hoped his final song would be the full version of Simply Red, or even the tiny bit he always played. That would have been funny.

I wonder what the rationale was in letting him go? It seems the powers that but don’t understand the 6 Music audience at all

I can only think they’re running it down as they’re thinking of axing it again. Only possible reason for
swapping Shaun with Craig Charles.

Agree with pp though, liked his breakfast show but his afternoon slot wasn't as good. Craig Charles is great but wouldn't say suited to that slot either!
